Pluribus TV show discussion thread (2 Viewers)

I'm interested enough to keep watching. Not a stellar endorsement and I'm not recommending it to friends yet but so far its worth watching in a crowded world of great television to choose from during my limited couch time these days.

Is it odd that the collective wisdom of billions of people failed to realize the garbage bag was too heavy for the drone? Or is there a clue there? Maybe the hive mind is incapable of comprehending that she wouldn't follow their instructions on weight? It seemed like an odd event to me and I'm suspicious.
They told her the max weight...she overloaded it

Sure, but when the drone struggled to lift it, why wouldn’t they abort? I agree it was odd…maybe just an attempt to inject some humor and not something to read into too deeply.

I am just hoping it is in fact a giant bag of dicks
I can attest that it will take a few seconds for the observer to recognize what he or she is seeing if so...
Not you though. You are the singular who can recognize a giant bag of dicks immediately. Should put that on your resume. It’s impressive.
Well it helped when the person showing it to me said, “Hey, want to see an actual bag of dicks? Haha”
That's one of the ways we differ....I would have said "No, I'm good".
I mean, it was asked of me while the speaker was opening the freezer. Not much time to decline. Plus it's a story!

This is how I took it along with her trying to send a message to the hivemind that she is not always going to do what they say. I see the result as an exhibition of their naivete as it seems like they are trusting to a fault because they would never lie or disobey their hive directive or whatever. This seems to jive with what I took to be their genuine hurt from Carol betraying them by injecting Xosia with the truth serum stuff.

Definitely bodies under the sheet, unless all of the symbolism and foreshadowing they were throwing at us the entire episode is a red herring. The wolf subplot how they were trying to get to her partner's body. The "Reuse" signs all over the grocery store. Etc.

When Gilligan has used cliffhangers like this, it was mainly to recontextualize previous happenings and events, not some crazy plot twist.

It didn’t appear to weigh 17 #s when she held it out in front of her. Not sure that relevant or important in any way, but she’s either really strong, or the prop dept blew it.

I agree with this. Except I don't think she was disobeying the weight restriction. I think she just wanted all of the garbage gone and had no idea how much the bag weighed.

That's fair, too. The point remains though that the hive seems to assume Carol will be honest and respectful and they are naive to the fact that Carol doesn't respect them and therefore either doesn't care about or intentionally disobeys their requests.

ETA: My assumption is that this (the hive assuming Carol is well-intentioned towards them when she is not) will be a recurring motif throughout the show.

I dont think the hive is dumb enough or naive to not know Carol's intentions. I think they simply think their efforts to fix the immunity problem will eventually correct it and up to this point haven't been worried about her. They have been much more worried about her flipping out and causing so many deaths.

Now, with the events of the recent couple episodes, and with the hive mind leaving Albuquerque, they may be rethinking her as a threat.

I absolutely LOVE how passive aggressive the hive mind was this last episode with the voicemails and the drone pickups.

I think the hive started out naive and assumed the non-converted (like Carol) would be like them. And for the most part they are. They're compliant like the Mother of the young son. The harem guy is making the most of the situation, but isn't harming anyone.
The guy resorting to eating dog food seems to be the only one (we've seen) like Carol that isn't just going along with it.
The hive has the collective knowledge of everyone on earth, but doesn't have the worldly experience to go along with it. Book smart, but not street smart.
