Possible Trade Jets - Chiefs (1 Viewer)

As some of you know. I help run a Jets Website and we have a couple inside sources. We knew Andre Wadsworth was attempting a comeback a month before they announced it.

http://www.jetnation.com/

We have learned the the NY Jets have been in trade discussion this week with the KC Chiefs. The possible deal would be Laveranes Coles & Chad Pennington for the Chiefs 1st and 4th rd pick.

Now this was just talks as of now but I wanted to share it here because of the possible info it gives out.

1.Coles isn't happy in NY and doesn't want to go through another tough Mangini camp.

2. The chiefs don't have any faith that Brodie Croyel is the guy or will be anytime soon.

I doub't the deal happens....but it was interesting news none the less. I figured I share.

Will never happen, though I would love to be dead wrong. I would never stop laughing at the Chiefs.

Wow I got to find the post I made a couple weeks ago on how Chad Pennington would bring the excitement back to KC football.

And I don't have sources. Other than Herman's stupidity.

Our source is the same guy inside the Jets who told us about Wadsworth. I have to take his word until it proves to be no good but he has been right so far this yr. More than once.

Coles isn't worth a 1st and Pennington isn't worth a 4th. The Jets would have to sweeten their end of the deal or accept less in trade.

I agree with his. On both parts.Pennington won't net a 4th because he's got a lot to prove he's more than a backup with a sissy arm. And at 31 years old I believe next year, it isn't going to improve. How will Chad net anything whatsoever in a deal? He's either going to be overpaid on the Jets or cut. No one will pay crap for him.Coles isn't worth a mid/high 1st. As good of a possession guy that he is. 2nd rounder at the very best.

If I paid you a $1,000 for every Jets fan you could find that honestly believed win could win tomorrow, you would be broke and tired from searching.

When I first saw this thread, I thought the Chiefs would be offering the Jets another 4th to take Herm Edwards back.

As if we would take Herm back, lol. Thanks for the 4th round pick. I'll take Leon Washington over Herm 7 days a week and 3 times on SUnday.

I think that was SSOG's point. That Herm is so bad they'd be glad to give a pick to move him. I don't think he was claiming the Jets would have any real interest.

Maybe tired of dealing with dumb Jets fans, but broke...........I don't think so

I don't get the Pennington hate. Put him in a warm city with a strong running game, and there are a lot of worse options out there. I don't think he and Coles are worth a 1st and 4th, but Pennington is an upgrade over the garbage in KC right now.

 A 2nd and a 4th or a late 1st and a 5th.

In the past two seasons Herm Edwards has one more regular season losses than shanny. Of course Herm also lost in the playoffs last season. Depends if losing a playoff game is worse than not even making the playoffs the past two years.

so according to trades

Coles > Randy Moss

Pennington=Moss

As a NY Homer.. I love Coles.. he guy is tough as nails and always leaves it all out there... but he's not a true #1... he makes the best of his abilities but he is a very strong #2.. he's a wes welker type that i can see thrive getting the weaker coverage. But most importantly not worth a #1 draft pick.

As far as Pennington goes... i guess he's an upgrade over the two bums that KC has right now... but he's no franchise QB anymore and in my eyes never was... he's extremely accurate and can manage a game... but he's no playmaker. He would make a great backup... somebody that won't necessarily lose the game for you but what you see is what you get. He can make all the passes except for ones that go over 20 yards... he has the arm of a prepubescent girl.

so according to tradesColes > Randy MossPennington=Moss
And by that same rationale.... Chambers for SD > Moss. It's tough to rationale the probability of a trade in comparing the picks / players from one deal to the next. Each situation appears to be different.

But think about the type of boring possession game that Herm likes to call. He does not call for a "high flying offense". Pennington knows his system and can make the throws that Herm needs him to make.

right. Herman at his best = Shanahan at his worst.

My question is why would these teams be talking about this now? Sure, neither team is exactly gearing up for a playoff run, but wouldn't these kind of rumors surface closer to the draft in April than just before Week 15 in the middle of December?

This is a good point, and one that KC has seen before. **** Vermiel brought in Trent Green from his old system in St Louis. I don't remember what KC gave for Green, but I remember thinking they overpaid. In the End, Green was the perfect QB for the system.

I don't see it happenning either but I don't disagree with the rounds.Moss was a whiney has been and Mike Williams was a waste of talent and IIRC they were 4ths last spring. Pennington can cover just fine as a backup QB. With Croyle and him, they'd be set for years.I love Coles. If the Pats still had an extra first I'd want them to trade for him. He's just a colossal pain in the neck to cover. Maybe like Welker, because he doesn't have the physical attributes of the typical star WRs you've gotta see it to appreciate it but he's terrific. He's so quick and so excellent at getting to a spot it's very frustrating to watch as a Pats fan. The Jets have no depth at WR with Coles so trading him seems silly.

This rumor must obviously come out of NY, as it's the most preposterous thing I've ever heard.

Pennington is gonna get cut - so why trade for him? ...so Coles is worth a 1st and 4th rounder? Hell, he wasn't even worth that much when he was good.

As a Chiefs fan, if this were to happen, I think I'd quit following the team...

The Chiefs are going to have a top 10 pick, possibly top 5. Why would they trade that for a 30yo WR and a never-been QB? Those two players together aren't worth a top 5 pick, let alone a 4th along with it.

Carl Peterson is a terrible GM, but I think even this is beyond him...

Coles has without a doubt set th record for "World's Fastest Possesion Receiver".

As a Raiders fan, I endorse this deal.

:stalker: @ the notion that the source is credible cuz it's the same source that brought us the incredible news on Andre Wadsworth.....

Sounds completely ridiculous to me.. BUT, if this one turns out credible I'm with ya on the next one....

not going to happen...Chiefs NEED to draft O-linemen , NOT a 30-something always hurt WR and a bum like Pennington with a noodle who can't throw the ball more that 10 yards downfield.but I realize we ARE talking about the Hapless Jets and Herm's Chiefs, so anything's possible. :gang2:

Wow, what a laughable trade rumor and extremely wishful thinking on the Jets parts. Pennington's current worth is a 5th-7th rounder, if that. Most teams will know he is likely going to be cut next season.

And as for Coles, I can see it, though not likely, a team might give up a late third rounder for him. More than likely he is worth a 4th to 5th.

Well then, I thank God that Pat Bowlen doesn't base his judgement of coaches on a 30-game sample size like some people.
Pennington is gonna get cut - so why trade for him?
FWIW, if there's going to be several parties interested in Pennington's services, a team might trade a pittance for him just so they don't have to bid against the others for his services. It guarantees them Pennington, and at a lower cap cost to boot.

With Pennington guiding the team to a comeback vs. New England, perhaps he just increased New York's asking price?
