Hey Guys,

Preseason is one time of the year when TV access to games is very limited. But most games are shown in their local markets.

If you can watch a preseason game, you can be a hero for the board and let us know what you see.

Please Note: Assume with these preseason game threads that the other people in the thread aren't watching the game. Normally, these threads are full of "nice catch" posts and that's cool because everyone is watching and everyone knows what you mean. But for these, please tell us more specifically what you're seeing as if we can't see the game.

Please focus on the things that won't show up in the box score.

- who got time with the starters

- how they looked

- body language on the sidelines

That kind of stuff. Basically, post the kind of stuff you'd like to know about a game that you are not able to watch.

Thanks.

J

I've been to several Saints practice sessions and every one I have witnessed has had very limited contact. In the Clarion Ledger today, Coach Payton stated that the primary goal for today's game is to evaluate the team. Specifically, he wants to see "how physical these guys are ready to be and how physical some may not be." Seemed curious to me, but I expect if he shared that with the team then most of the Saints will be going all out, as if their career depended on their performance. With the Saints, there are many players that this is definitely true.

Deuce McAllister and Ernie Conwell will not play tonight.

I will be looking at the Saints for the following:

1) Offensive play calls for Drew Brees and whether he attempts lengthy passes?

2) How the O-Line looks? The Saints have a couple injured and others shifting positions, don't expect much.

3) How Devery Henderson looks and if he is still starting at WR with Joe Horn?

4) How the Saints employ Bush in a pre-season game; will he mainly just have the standard RB role?

5) Will Bush be used as a return man?

6) How often the Saints use a two TE set? Is it for passing plays or to help run the ball?

7) How long into the game will it be till Stallworth plays? He's been in the Coach's doghouse.

8) How do Hass, Colton, Johnson, Jones, and other down the depth chart WRs look? I think there might be some WRs get cut by the Saints and catch on elsewhere.

AP is reporting LenDale White will not play as a result of his actions in the brawl earlier in the week.

Where are you seeing this? The article on the Titans homepage has a picture of VY and Lendale and says that White will be making his debut tonight. It also has quotes from Fisher about the competitions tonight and White on playing tonight.
I’m excited because being in the NFL is something I’ve been dreaming about my whole life,” said White, who rushed for 3,159 yards and 52 touchdowns at USC. “This is a National Football League game. Also, playing against Reggie is going to make it extra special and fun. It’s not a competition thing about who is going to do better, it’s just fun to know that somebody I’ve worked hard with for three years will be in the same spot I am (tonight).

The report now says White is unlikely to play...http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpag...NFL&id=3637

I have a gut feeling that White won't do much of anything the first 8 weeks or so of the regular season. I think it's more likely that Travis Henry starts if/when Chris Brown gets hurt/dealt

NFL Network reporting on No Huddle that Lendale White won't be playing.

white is not playing

Just saw White standing on the sidelines in street clothes. All smiles, doesn't seem to upset about not playing. I hope he bought a ticket for that medallion he's wearin.

I expect nothing less from him. He looks like flava flav with that thing around his neck.Glad to see he is so bummed about missing his first NFL game experience. Class act.

Bush looked good on the short pass. Not so good on pass protection on the next play. Had Brees needed another second, he wouldn't have had it. PUNT.

Nice return by Pacman but it is being brought back. Illegal block in the back. Nice return though great cuts.

Bush couldve taken on Pac man on that reception, he chose to step out of bounds instead of trying to get the first down . . .

Lots of running plays to Chris Brown early one. He's running well. Not the toughest run D that he's running against.

That one he broke quickly for about twenty yards.

Henry for the last two, nowhere to run, not much yardage gained.. Pass to Henry WAAAAAAY overthrown. Henry kind of cut off the pattern. Field Goal is good

Volek patient with his check downs to Wade in the flat. Next play Volek avoids the rush and connects with Wade again. He's looking very composed.

Wade with 2 consecutive receptions. I watched him his whole college career and I am surprised he has made some what of a career in the NFL. He is a great talent but I have always felt he was to small for the NFL. These guys commentating are talking him up a lot though. I would be happy to see Wade take the next step.

Arizona representing. :football:

Jones returned the first punt for the Saints. Bethel Johnson just returned the kickoff following the Tenn FG.

Campbell and Laurie in double TE set. Bush looking nice on run up the middle. Next pass to Henderson in the #s and DROPPED

Bush nowhere to run left, cut back all the way to the right side, pure speed and huge 44 yard gain

Brees throwing deep for Colston and overthrown. Arm looked good, about 45 yds in the air.

Next one dumped off to Stecker for short gain, not pretty. Carnery for 40 yd FG attempt. It is good

Reggie Bush.... 3 carries 52 yards.......... 1 rec for 1 yard.... 44 yard run (started left and turned around and got the corner on the right side... great run..

oh boy, Bush broke a long one
OK, damn I'm liking this guy already. He just turned and outran the entire defense for about 40 yards.Barry Sanders with speed.
 Preseason game vs the Titans of all teams. He's gonna be good, I think the Barry Sanders comparisons are a bit early (Barry also was very fast if you saw him at OSU and his first years in the NFL).

NFL speed my ashtray. Bush absolutely embarassed the Titans D. WOW. Nobody crosses to the opposite side of the field and outruns the lateral pursuit. Nobody.

Bush just did it. WOW

Brees just threw a ball 40 yards downfield No obvious shoulder issues.
