How does VY look?
Pretty good. He has run a couple broken plays nicely (not surprising). He just had a 45 yard pass that hit the receiver in stride - perfect placement. The receiver muffed it, but it was nice.Overall, right now for a raw prospect he is looking pretty promising.

Mike Hass just hoovered in another one in traffic. Got popped hard from two guys and held on.

Stud in the making.

Seriously, what are you 12? Wtf is your problem? Why don't you grow up and come up with an argument for something better than "har har, you suck" and then get back to me. I won't bother responding to any more posts that you let a 6 year old type up for you.And just FYI, I wouldn't draft Holt in the early 2nd either. Smith and TO are the only receivers I would think about that early.
:lmao: Sorry I brought you to tears. Holt is not playing for Mike Martz anymore and the Rams are going to be a bad team who try to run. Last year the media ate them up for not handing the ball more to Stephen Jackson. Rams will run as a first option much more than they did in the past even when they get behind. As a Holt owner I would worry about this team being in close games because Holt isn't going to get the looks he has in the past under Martz. With CJ he plays on a good team so his numbers will suffer when they are winning games. Cincy will have a much tougher schedule this year and teams will prepare for them in a much different manner. Cincinnnati will be forced to throw this year and not have the option of keeping teams off balance. If Rudi and Chris Perry can be used to induce a posture that calls for a run stop, CJ will be much more effective this year than he ever has been before.
Meanwhile, I like Holt over CJ because he's been consistently putting up the same numbers as CJ but has done it longer and with more turnover (we've seen Holt's numbers remain constant even with QB3 in there, how would CJ fare if something happened to Carson?).
What would he do? Well look at the numbers below? Looks like the last two years they've been pretty even and Holt is older and was playing in a Martz system. You ask about whether CJ can survive with a #3 QB, can Holt survive no longer being the focus of the offense? I say no and he is bumped down because of it. Football isn't just about past performance and how many TDs Holt scored in his prime year (he's on the down-slope), but schemes, coaching, and game situation. Martz and his offense leaving will hurt Holt. No doubt about it. Saints - Titans thread guys, go have your tier 1 wr thread somewhere else.

REGGIE looks good, he seems so quick, meaning fo rmany players, they say the speed of the nfl game is alot to handle at first. He seems to be at the fast end of that speed already. Just one of those things, watching him he seems real quick.

In this game, in about a half of football, VY has taken 5 or 6 good shots. He does not seem to have that last move to make the hit not square. It alarms me how he is getting hit square. I would worry about him lasting a season as a starter - and I am a Saints fan, but also like and root for VY.

vy escapes pocket, rolls left, rolls back right, stumbles, keeps his feet, and finds a receiver in the borken route for 15 yards. called back by holding, but the first real dynamic creation from VY tonight.

For you larger leagues or larger rosters where backups/handcuffs are important. Stecker got hurt and Jamall Branch has looked impressive in his place. Has to have 50+ all purpose yards and runs hard.

VY at 5 yard line, this should be good with teh Saints D.

Nice touch pass by VY. His passing is looking pretty good.

ahhhhhhhhh ahahahhahahahahaha

Rich Eisen just reported QB McPhereson of Saints was injured when a golf cart being driven by the mascot of the Titans HIT him at the end of halftime! Holy crap! This is the greatest pre season game ever!

VY rolls out at 10yard line, getting hit makes a horrible decision, and flips the ball up as he is going down. Interception was dropped, and he rolled around - maybe an ankle. no cart or anything, being taken care of sitting on bench.

That has to hurt, he was already odd man out on team with Martin and Bouman on roster. Imagine bagging groceries at age 28 saying to yourself "danged mascot ruined my career".

Let's just put this in perspective. Bouman SUCKS. I'd take a tire tread ridden McPhereson over Bouman anyday.Oh, and thank goodness we have Martin. He looked pretty good.

Not trying to start a stampeed, but Branch is looking good pass blocking and running hard. Looks to be a capable backup and with Deuce's knee plus Stecker hrt tonght he could be #2...

Edit: just showed his line, he is 7-36 rushing with no long run - is getting 4-6 each carry. Saints dir. player personnel in booth just commenting on branch doing good in camp so far with running and pass blocking.

Adrian McPherson was clipped in the leg by a golf cart while exiting the locker room at halftime of Saturday's preseason game in Nashville against the Titans. The Tennessee mascot was driving the cart and throwing items into the stands when the collision occured

Any doubters still?
Yep...how many touches will he get when McAllister is back. I couldn't take a RB in redraft this year in the 3rd round that is only going to get 15 touches a game (including kicks). Talent, yes...enough opportunities, no.
1. What makes you think Bush will be the backup?2. Why can't they both play at the same time? (with Bush in the slot)3. Where does the 15 touches number come from?

He doesn't believe in diversity. He thinks there has to be a #1 and lesser #2. He can't see 2 guys putting up numbers. SD does it with LT andGates. NO can do it with Deuce and Reggie in the backfield, slot, as a WR, running reverses, fake reverses.Talk about a creative offense.

Does anyone really think that there's going to be some sort of democracy(ie. 50 - 50 split) in the backfield. Seriously?

Bush will be on the field a lot regardless of how healthy Deuce is. Who do you think New Orleans would rather line up in the slot, Devery Henderson or Reggie Bush? It seems like an easy decision to me. Bush will demand extra attention from defenses and give the Saints more flexibility and playmaking ability. They'd be fools to keep him on the sidelines.

Absolutely my point. It's August 13 and DMac still isn't ready for full speed/full contact. He's coming off the dreaded ACL rehab. Far more talented RB's have been rendered ineffective by this sort of deal (see Edge). Bush is the guy filling up the dome. Bush is the face of the team. Bush is the guy with more guaranteed money the line. Let's face it, Dmac was having a poor season in '05 pre-ACL. There's no way in hell that a torn ligament in his knee is going to improve his game. So, I'm with you. Bush owners should look forward to a 60/40 - 65/35 split. Minumum.

McPherson's poor situational awareness and game sense are why he's not starting.

So it sounds like you guys expect 20 carries per game and about 8-10 receptions. Good luck with that.

I've read that Bouman is all but gone. Maybe McPherson didn't look good but it seems Bouman regularly doesn't look good in practice. Maybe both should be gone?

I'm not a college fan. Pete Carroll had Lendale White(?) pound the D a bunch and Bush fed off that right? In what I've read and seen in highlights this seems like a wise philosophy. I don't know what split is best(50/50 60/40,30/70) but it seems like Bush could feast on a D that was worn down a little from another back.

Brees just threw a ball 40 yards downfield No obvious shoulder issues.
This is what I was looking for. Not to rain on anyone's parade but it is hard to take too much from preseason games besides depth chart and injury recovery issues. Glad Brees is looking alright, health wise.

Payton said several times during the week were it a regular season game Deuce would play. They've sound pretty happy with what he's been able to do in camp so far and where he's at physically.
any word on the injury to Stecker? How bad?
All they've said is high ankle sprain, x-rays showed no break. Post-game speculation is 6 weeks, but that's just the Saints radio announcing team guessing.

Saw the game live and not much to add that hadn't already been stated. Reggie Bush looked very impressive, especially on the broken play where he had to improvise - good instincts. Vince Young was just the opposite, looked decent except on the broken plays where he had to improvise - very poor decision making. Still way early, but if he keeps this up throughout preseason, opposing Ds are going to smell blood in the water and start coming after him hard.

Nah. More like 15 carries/5 receiving targets per game. Expect 3 comps/5 targets (very conservative) and you're looking at 48 catches. That's 18 "touches"/game. Let's give him 8 yards per catch and 4.5 yds/carry and you're looking at something like this: 240/1080/8 - 10 TD's and 48/384/2 - 4 TD's 1464/10 - 14 TD's with 18 touches/game. I expect Stecker/DMac to split the remaining work.

The unknown quantity here is Bush's maturation as a football player. None of these guys stand still. He's 21 years old and he's going to improve. His ceiling is as high as any player in the NFL and he's going to get every opprotunity in the world to take advantage of it. I think he will.

Many have the first tier of WRs very similar this year. While WR2 won't fall to the end of the second, many don't have CJ as WR2. CJ is a roleplayer in FF (go back and look at his numbers, he doesn't have the big games the other elite WRs have....only two multi-TD games in the last two years and only two over 20 pts in standard scoring leagues as opposed to guys like TO who had more than that in 7 games last year alone), I've got Smith, TO, Holt, and possibly Fitz and Moss ahead of him so I could see him falling to the end of the second in ~20-25% of drafts depending on how the owners have that first tier of WRs ordered.
LOFL.Not sure where you're getting your numbers from dude. Chad scored over 20 6 times alone last year in my league. Had at least one TD in 8 out of 15 games and put up consistent yardage and scoring all year long. Sorry man, but "CJ is a roleplayer in FF" is not a statement to be taken serious, under almost any circumstances.

Brees just threw a ball 40 yards downfield No obvious shoulder issues.
:confused:Brees' throw was not comforting if you're a Saints fan. He wound up and let it loose and there was a TON of air under that thing. Not only was it completely off course, it had no velocity, it was practically a punt. If anything that throw was cause for concern, not reassurance.
That's reasuring to to Bush owners. That means that he will rely heavily on dumping the ball of to #5 ... um #25 I mean for screen passes that go for 80 yards. :banned:

These are pretty bold projections. 240 carries? I don't personally think that will happen. Maybe 10-12 carries per game. That being said I am REALLY tempted to draft him at 3.01 this year because of his potential and hope he has a Westbrook type role. I'm really fighting it though. I really hope he gets picked in the second round in my league so I won't pick him.
