Preseason Game Observations (1 Viewer)

missed the beginning of the ATL game, how'd SJax look?
Looked very solid, strong and fast. The Falcons offense if going to be top 3 this year if everyone stays healthy. SJax should average 2 TDs per game from rushes and catches.

I'd recommend grabbing Jaquizz Rodgers as his backup also - he's excellent and will got a lot of playing time this year.

He may have looked good, but probably not going to average 2 TDs a game unless you think he "should" set an NFL record this year. At 2 TDs per game, he is the #1 overall pick.

You think he will have 32 total TDs? I will take the under.

David Gettis is flashing again... Not sure he will be fantasy relevant or even make the team but he is going to make it a tough decision to cut him... Steve smith isn't getting any younger and joe Adams looks like a bust so why not keep him around and see what they can get out of the once promising young WR

Sjax looked good, no he will not score 2 Td's every game,He ran strong, hit the hole, and created yards after contact. Rodgers look good also. The Falcons OF was clicking...for a preseason game.

So you have Jackson down for 32 TD's this year?

And then there's this gem from a day or two ago:

(Rotoworld)OC Dirk Koetter suggested that he doesn't see Jacquizz Rodgers getting many carries this season.

Analysis: Even when Michael Turner was running with a refrigerator strapped to his back last year, the Falcons didn't give Rodgers much of a chance. He averaged just 5.8 rushes per game, a number that could even drop now that Steven Jackson is in town. Quizz's chances figure to come as a receiver. "We still have to get Quizz his touches whether if it's on kickoff returns, throwing it to him out of the backfield or the screen game," Koetter said. There's little more than weak handcuff appeal here.

Vick looked incredibly good last night. I seen people talking about Foles so should bring up Vick.

9/9 105yds. That INT he has listed was the end of half hail mary, it is nothing. 2 for 20 on the ground.

Cooper might be a good 3/4 WR if you are in deep leagues.

Don't look at whose starting each game. Its how Chip is doing his camp. He is alternating players each week. Brown would have started the 1st quarter if he wasn't hurt.

Eagles offense, for as thin a they are at WR, looks exciting. McCoy Brown Polk will be a triple threat.

How about that DeAngello 'they actually gave him a fifty million dollar contract' Williams.

12 for 39 (3.2 ypc, 2.8 if you remove his longest carry of 8 yards) and a reception for 3 yards.

I feel so bad for Panthers fans, go after some weapons, give Newton a chance...

8/15 Draft Stock risers

Vick

McCoy

Weeden

Cameron

Forte

Marshall

Fallers

all Chargers
I'm this close to droping Rivers for Weeden...
I just put money down without odds that Rivers will finish the year with more fantasy points than Weedon.

The guy was so confident he wouldn't I'm a little sad I didn't get odds, but theres no way Weedon finishes ahead of Rivers with how much they will have to throw this year and how much the Browns plan on running.

From what I saw of Steven Jackson vs his past: still fights hard for yards, but a bit slower. He's going to break tackles and move chains, but I don't think he'll have many long runs/catches unless the opposing defense is sleeping. There are some distracting WRs on his team though, so that might just happen on occassion.

And as for Jacquizz, I wouldn't touch him with a ten foot poll. Just like every year, he goes down if a defender looks at him funny, and he can only gain yardage if the hole is gapping wide. Do not draft.

SJAX: Better than last week, not as good as we are accustomed to from him. He is still a BIG man but you can kind of tell that overwhelming power isn't on display at all right now. On one play, he pulled a Turner (ran into the pile and crumbled). You never see that from SJAX. On another play, Elam pulled a WWE move on him and body slammed him. Usually with SJAX, you see that falling forward extra yard thing. Not so much so far.

Chargers: Matthews actually looked like a player, given what he has to work with. Gates looked better than I thought he would but I think its obvious that any injury that slows him at all and he is in trouble. He boxes out but he's not creating space and blowing by people in any form anymore. Speaking of what Matthews had to work with, if I played team defense, I would put a copy of the Chargers schedule in my wallet. That is going to be a matchup play all year.

Richardson: I'm not the biggest fan but will say he's looking good. Sucks about Lewis. He was doing some things too. Weeden is going to find that come Week 1, those defenses aren't going to allow him to look the ball into the receivers so I am tempering my enthusiasm with him a bit.

Shady: OMG, I bet the Carolina defense injury report contains 6 broken ankles this morning. He was snapping them off left and right last night. He might be the best value player you draft this year when he falls to 6.

Browns have Richardson and nothing else at RB now that Dion Lewis is gone. I doubt they run TR to the ground. They will be passing. I like the Weeden side of this wager.

He looked like Barry out there. Such a fun guy to watch.

It looks to me like Jason Avant has taken over the Maclin role in the offense. I think Avant is a bigtime ppr sleeper.

Philly 1st 3 weeks

@ Wash on Monday night

vs SD

vs KS on Thurs night

Chip Kelly could generate a lot of buzz early on

fantasy wise I don't know what to make of it outside of just being more confident in McCoy - and Vick as QB12 if he wins the job I guess

It's only pre-season but it's hard to not want to "bump" McCoy past that group behind AP (Foster/Martin/Charles/Lynch) based on last nights show. Perhaps going a little overboard but man he looked good.

Guessing you didn't watch this game? There was at least 3 plays where as soon as the ball touched Dwills hands he was being tackled, run blocking was mostly atrocious in this game. I am not saying he is a world beater, but those stats were not all on him. Unless one or the other gets hurt, this looks like a situation to avoid in most cases.

Not sure what Vick's ADP is, but I like the idea of taking like Eli Manning+Mike Vick late.
both those guys absolutely destroyed teams who waited on QB last year. Id still rather take one of the big 12
But they have both done the opposite, at other points in their career. I think Vick + Romo is a better bet, considering how late Romo is going. But I don't think it's unreasonable to expect much more from Vick/Eli than they did in 2012.

This. Yes, DeAngelo's big extension looks dumb. But not because he's not an elite NFL talent -- throughout his career Williams' per touch efficiency has been ridiculously strong. It's just stupid in today's NFL to sign two RBs for big money so they can split the load, as opposed to paying one and adding help at receiver or o-line with the rest of the $$$.

The problem is coaching. The Carolina coaches are some of the dumbest in the game. If DeAngelo is in the game, he's running the ball. Everyone knows it. That's why he gets blown up repeatedly.

Chudzinski designed the offense around Newton. The new OC says they except him to make more plays from the pocket. All I needed to hear to stay far away from Carolina this year.

If an owner is waiting on a QB, I can't think it gets much better than Romo. That is a heck of a "scraping the bottom of the barrel" move.

Those "take away [blank]" calls are downright stupid. They happened, why take them away?

Don't they have a whole new Offensive set of coaches? There are two sets of dummies? And the old dummy is now the HC of the team with TRICH, who everyone is slobbering over?

At some point, I think we have to point a finger at something else. I don't think its talent of any player or any unit, I just think its a very hard group to mesh. With Cam, you want him in space but that is counter to the strengths of JSTEW and DWIL in other aspects. You might (just pulling a name out of a hat) be able to put a guy like Darren Sproles in this backfield and create a god. YOu might be able to put JSTEW on the Jets and DWIL with the Colts and create two more.

None of them are short of great players but they just do not mesh well as it stands.

Because people who have a strong suit in math are aware of a thing called outliers to create the normal range. Not saying it is appropriate in FF but that is what draws people to these statements.

That might be, but I would argue that a running back who has averaged nearly 5 YPC for his career is probably gonna have a lot more 8-yard gains than 5-yard losses, so taking away the 8-yard gain, like that is the outlier, is painting a disingenuous picture.
