Preseason Game Observations (2 Viewers)

Does it seem like the Jets coaching/management staff put Sanchez in to try and get him hurt? That way they have an excuse to start Geno Smith when the season starts.

I don't like Sanchez, but I'm starting to feel sorry for the guy now that he's just getting hammered. There was no reason to put in Sanchez this late in the game.
Have you seen him play? He needed the practice.
By working him with the 3rd and 4th team guys late in a meaningless preseason game?

Watched much of the Seahawks/Packers game just now on DVR.

- Russell Wilson was disappointing.
I don't think Wilson was particularly disappointing.

1st drive: Wilson was 5/5 for 67 yards with 1 run for 13 yards. The drive stalled when he was sacked, but IIRC that was when Turbin completely whiffed on the pass block and Wilson didn't have much of a chance to escape.

2nd drive: Wilson was sacked on the first play but the offense recovered to get a couple first downs, mostly running, but Wilson was 2/2 for 27 yards. His pass to Luke Wilson on 3rd and 5 came up a yard short, ending the drive.

3rd drive: Wilson was 1/3 for 3 yards and the Seahawks did not gain a first down. However, on 3rd and 17, he threw a beautiful pass to Tate that should have been caught for a first down.4th drive: Wilson was 1/2 for 4 yards with an interception, but it was a tipped pass.

5th drive: Wilson was 1/3 for 9 yards with an interception. This one was a bad decision and also a poor pass.

6th drive: Wilson was 1/2 for 16 yards and got sacked a couple more times before Michael ran for the TD.

Overall, he was accurate (11/17, with another throw to Tate that should have been caught IMO) and made a few very nice throws. He moved around the pocket well and made one nice run for a first down. He really only made one bad decision that I recall, on the second interception.

The thing that stood out more to me was that Seattle's pass protection needs improvement. Wilson was officially sacked 3 times, but he was also sacked another time when offensive holding was called. And I think there was at least one other offensive holding call.
Tipped passes are one of the hits on him being a short QB. Also that second interception came on the heels of a missed pick the play before that he got away with. These are not insignificant glitches.
False bro.

wilson had otherworldly 16-2 ratio in last eight regular season games...

didn't read link/article, but maybe not common knowledge that wilson has textbook over the top release (smart on his part, given height restriction), which effectively gives him release point of much taller QB...

and even that might be missing point... wilson reminds me of brees for knack of finding lanes to throw BETWEEN DL (whereas 6'8" dan mcgwire maybe never did?)...

Thank God the Jets are the grease fire that draws attention away from the Raiders. Looks like the competition will be fierce for Clowney.

no, that was totally mis-treatment. Geno played like poop and should of been yanked in the 1st Q

Ball running with some authority on 1 yard TD run.

Broncos playing most of their starters (sans Peyton) in 3rd quarter. Knowshow looking decent and I've got to believe that if you are trying to corner the market on the Bronco running game (and thankfully I am not) that Ball and Moreno are the first two players to target.
Denver played most of it's starters. St Louis put in their 2nd team defense. Just FYI.

Pead was 4 for 25 besides the carry he got stuffed on (-3).

Richardson was 4 for 10 besides the carry he got stuffed on (-3).

Anybody watching the Philly/Jax game able to weigh in on the RB2 situation in Philly? Don't want to post suscriber content, but it seems in the latest Fall Camp Week 3 that Polk has seemingly gained the edge over Bryce Brown.

I know so far Brown has 3 carries to Polk's 1, but I'm curious if anybody can weigh in. I think there's late value to be had there.
I asked the Philly homers this in the Eagles thread and they seem confident that Brown is the clear #2.
Don't know if you can read anything into it, but Brown was the next RB in the game after McCoy tonight. He's had a couple of decent runs but the team in general doesn't seem to be running much so far tonight. Polk got some time in the first half as well.

ETA: 1st half rushing stats - Brown 3-14, McCoy 5-9 (long of 15), Polk 1-4, Vick 7-53
Bryce Brown, 11-92, TD but a critical fumble at the goal line or he would have 2 TDs.

Chris Polk, 6-23, TD and a 2 pt conversion.

Yanked, why? it's friggin preseason.

NFL network should stay with the San Diego Arizona game. Not sure why they rather show games with players that won't be in NFL next week.

Who gives a #### about the Jets press conference? There's a game on that still has starters playing and they are obsessed with Rex presser.

So let's see: Sanchez is dead. Geno is a disaster. Simms isn't ready.

Maybe trade to get Leon Washington or Brad Smith back on the team and go to a full-time Wildcat?

I'll bet the Jets wish they'd kept Tebow. The Pats can't release him now. Bill isn't stupid... he would instantly be the Jets' best QB.

2/10

Which part am I wrong about?
The part where you said instantly. It would take at least five minutes to figure out Tebow is QB#1.
Maybe.
Tim Tebow wouldn't start on my flag football team.

Look at what he did with the Broncos. As long you shift the offense the way Denver did, run the bl a ton with Tebow, Ivory, and Bilal. Limit turnovers and every once in awhile play action deep to Stephen Hill.
