Prince Dead at 57 R.I.P. (1 Viewer)

It seems that a few people in the media think Dr. Fink is an actual doctor because I have seen him in two interviews get asked to diagnose the cause of Prince's death.

Never knew he wrote Manic Monday.  Listening to it now seems like i should have known. For sure sounds like him.
Guy on FOX News yesterday afternoon said the Bangles were on the same flight as him - in coach - and snuck up to 1st class to meet him. He wrote Manic Monday on a scrap of paper and just gave it to them...which became their breakout hit. They credited him as one of his writing nom de plumes - Christopher Robin.

Cute story but totally made up.  Prince wrote the song for another band but pulled it from their album and then offered it to the Bengals a few years later.

I was on the way to the ballpark yesterday to see the Giants/Dbacks game and I heard at least five different Prince songs blaring from cars we had passed.   At the game they played all Prince between innings.  City Hall was lit up in Purple.

Saw him live two years ago in Oakland...one of the best shows I've ever seen.  Hit after hit, intertwining styles, genres and eras throughout the concert. 57 is way too young.

RIP

What was his story with being on streaming services and youtube?  I know all artists hate that their #### was on youtube but searching for Prince on Youtube (because most of his stuff is not on Spotify) always seemed like he was more vigilant than any other artist in having it remove.  There would even be cover versions that would be gone in 2 days.  There was a jazz (no lyrics) 3 piece version of Diamonds and Pearls that I loved and was gone in 3 days.

Just interested in reading anything on this particular subject if it's available.  He seems to be, by far, the hardest one to track down the music of.
This flew by the internet this AM:

I'm kind of in the boat that I can acknowledge that he was extremely talented and a great artist....but I'm just not a fan of his music. If that makes sense.
Oh I really like some of his songs, definite great, just not that song :)

I listened to Around the World In A Day last evening.  It had never been my favorite Prince album, but the whole Beatles-esque thing really worked for me last night.  Of course, I've always recognized Rasberry Beret as awesome.

There's a good live version online with Prince and Mary Blige which shows how it was probably meant to be or closer to it.

I have a CD with a similar version to this one with Rosie Gains singing with Prince

I forget which CD it is though

Dude had so many great songs

A few that I like that aren’t that popular are:

Joy in repetition

17 days

God

Another Lonely Christmas

Lady Cab Driver

Money don’t matter 2 night

Ballad of Dorothy Parker

When 2 R in love

Something about the clouds and you mixed?

I miss Wikkidpissah. Huge Prince fan.
miss y'all. all good things, timmy and best to all.

sad week. wednesday was my 20th anniv as a widower and then we lose the only artist whose every note i heard with head, heart and nards simultaneously.

year of our lord 198sumnorother. coke hangover, strange girl's pad. she was up doin the do, i was just hopin it weren't eggs cuz i hate eggs. some way to focus, on with the tube. canadian hair band video goes off and suddenly the screen fills with light and purple and whooshes and this crazy li'l dood starts tappin my holy trinity with the sweetest, hippest most lined-up funk fetish i ever heard. and i knew, sure as i knew the world had changed on beatles/sullivan night, the Fusion has come, it all adds up to this. yadayadayada, buy 1999, listen to this hellacious gossip from planet lovetron ramble widely on, realize i need the tightness of the single for my mix tape and go by my 1st 45 since the 60s. mix tape covered, i check the b-side. just Prince, a piano, a stompin boot, a broken heart and a steamin nut. this is 'how come u don't call me anymore'. satchmo weeps, man - this is what it's all about. still my favorite and i weeped and screamed like a bobbysoxer when he made it the central part of his slow set the 1st time i saw him live. he's owned all my zones ever since. RIP, purple rock - take me with you....

This is how I am with him too.  Started listening to songs yesterday in commemoration and got about 3 in before I decided no.

That time when Kim Kardashian got on stage with him during a concert but then he figured out that she had no actual talent to do anything up there with him so he yelled "Pffft!  Get off the stage!"

:lmao:

The whole thing beginning to sound like a Michael Jackson deal without the Propofol. Guy is surrounded by people who only say yes.  Popping percs and when he OD's the first time ignores medical advice and bails form the hospital. Keeps going like everything's fine. Dead in less than a week. Guy weighs 120 pounds, wonder how much he was taking.  Such a waste. There's a doctor somewhere in Minn. sweating right now. Prince outwardly against illicit drugs and alcohol but taking something far more dangerous and in a reckless fashion it seems. Being such a larger than life figure contributed to his death.  Maybe he didn't want to admit he had an issue because it would have tarnished his image.

Prince, good news bad news.

OK, what's the good news?

19 of the top 20 selling albums currently on Amazon are Prince albums.

Wow, that's unbelievable. What's the bad news?

You're not breathing.
