Guy on FOX News yesterday afternoon said the Bangles were on the same flight as him - in coach - and snuck up to 1st class to meet him. He wrote Manic Monday on a scrap of paper and just gave it to them...which became their breakout hit. They credited him as one of his writing nom de plumes - Christopher Robin.Never knew he wrote Manic Monday. Listening to it now seems like i should have known. For sure sounds like him.
Cute story but totally made up. Prince wrote the song for another band but pulled it from their album and then offered it to the Bengals a few years later.Guy on FOX News yesterday afternoon said the Bangles were on the same flight as him - in coach - and snuck up to 1st class to meet him. I understand, just going by what I saw/heard. Salt will be needed for many stories, I would assume.Cute story but totally made up. Prince wrote the song for another band but pulled it from their album and then offered it to the Bengals a few years later.
And they were all "No thanks, we're a football team." and the rest was music history.Prince wrote the song for another band but pulled it from their album and then offered it to the Bengals a few years later.

The Eiffel Tower, Louisiana Superdome, Empire State Building, and Niagara Falls were all purple last night
This flew by the internet this AM:What was his story with being on streaming services and youtube? I know all artists hate that their #### was on youtube but searching for Prince on Youtube (because most of his stuff is not on Spotify) always seemed like he was more vigilant than any other artist in having it remove. There would even be cover versions that would be gone in 2 days. There was a jazz (no lyrics) 3 piece version of Diamonds and Pearls that I loved and was gone in 3 days.
Just interested in reading anything on this particular subject if it's available. He seems to be, by far, the hardest one to track down the music of.

There's a good live version online with Prince and Mary Blige which shows how it was probably meant to be or closer to it.He also wrote "Nothing Compares To You", but as an up-tempo song, and was infuriated that Sinead O'Connor slowed it way down.
Any love for Raspberry Beret? I always liked that song.
There's a live version on the compilation album The Hits/The B-Sides. Some other otherwise unreleased stuff on there too, including Pope, maybe my personal favorite. There's a good live version online with Prince and Mary Blige which shows how it was probably meant to be or closer to it.

I listened to Around the World In A Day last evening. It had never been my favorite Prince album, but the whole Beatles-esque thing really worked for me last night. Of course, I've always recognized Rasberry Beret as awesome.
That's on the The Hits/B Sides Box Set. Bought separately, I think the disc was The Hits Vol. 2.I have a CD with a similar version to this one with Rosie Gains singing with Prince
