Prince Fielder or Albert? Who will draw more interest? (1 Viewer)

Prince is 27, Albert will be 32 next season.

When was the last time two power hitters of this stature were both UFAs? And what will be the market for them?

Yankees have Tex locked up at 1B, Red Sox have Gonzo. Tigers have Cabrera. Those three teams have been big spenders as of late. White Sox blew a ton on Dunn, Dodgers are a mess, Mets are cutting payroll, Brewers no, Minny no, KC no, Florida no, Seattle no,

Baltimore, California, Arizona, SanFran...possibles. Any other possible suitors?

If you believe Jayson Stark, the Marlins are poised to make a run at one of these guys. Supposedly looking to make a splash in the FA market with that new stadium rolling out in 2012.

Why no for the Brewers? They'll make a run at Fielder if for no other reason than to save face with their fan base. The Cubs need somebody to replace Pena. If history is any guide, there will be one team that makes a surprisingly strong play.

Makes sense. Which one though? Fielder is entering his prime years and Albert is from Florida.

Albert is from the Dominican Republic, but spent his high school/college years in Kansas City. Prince is actually the one from Florida.

Why did I think Albert was from the Tampa area? Thought I heard that somewhere.

I hope Prince goes to Baltimore, can we have someone hit the damn warehouse already???

Isn't the Marlins park looking like it would hurt RHH? Does that make them more likely for Prince?

No way Albert leaves the Lou, but I think this season cost him two seasons on an extension.

But then again, the Werth and Crawford deals show there is no limit to the madness.

It is interesting though, the Yanks and Sox, as mentioned are 95 percent out, and the Mets and Dodgers have potential use but not the finances. That's really a big market crimp. And do the Halos get involved with Trumbo and Morales potentially in the mix?

He ends up with a Werth deal and he ends up on a bad team. The Marlins and Cubs might just blow their wad like that. (The Nats won't do it again, but they'll pay for Prince.)You're right, if Pujols wants to play for a winner and cement his legacy he'll have to stay in St Lou and settle for less.

The Cubs will almost definitely be involved here at the very least driving up the price. I agree that the Marlins and Nationals could be dark horses.

I still think there is a pretty decent chance Pujols stays in STL. They have been spending money like crazy lately. If they were worried about their chances in a Pujols bidding war, I think they would have handled everything differently this year. I'm pretty sure they've already decided to spend whatever it takes.

I don't see any chance MILW keeps Fielder.

I don't think you can rule out the Yanks for Pujols. Him and Tex could share 1b/dh. Maybe Tex could play some leftfield. It doesn't need to make baseball sense. TV ratings are what matter. If Tex don't like he could keep quiet or agree to a trade.

Pujols' camp has said St. Louis has gotten a discount for 10 years now. Could see the Yanks offering 2 million more per year and a deal that is a year longer then anything the Cards would do. The difference could be upwards of 50mill. Considering Pujols hasn't signed yet I think he's going for top-dollar. You got to think St. Louis has offered 6-7 year deal at 30 mill per already. Apparently that's not enough for Albert.
