Wanted to give some major props to MoP for his great article on best-ball leagues. Yeah, it’s a couple years old, but still worth the read.

Our main money league is now in the 2nd year of this format and I have to say it’s been a huge success. So much so that I can’t envision playing in a “pick-your-starters” league again. (Similar to the feeling I had after switching our league to an auction format years ago or playing double-headers each week…) I’m not dogging “normal” leagues or anyone who likes and prefers them – everyone is free to like what they like. It’s just my opinion that if more people tried a league like this – they would be amazed that’s it’s just as fun, just as involved, with far fewer headaches and heartaches than a “normal” league. To me, it just makes logical sense to play FF this way.
This format was met with a fair amount of skepticism from some of the “purists” and those that just like things the way they are. By the end of the year last year, even those guys said they actually liked the new format. Our league still has waivers, trades, etc…and the waiver wire was never more active.
Anyway, just wanted to say thanks to MoP for the impetus to try this. It takes a little effort to get everyone on board and to break the traditional mold, but I’ve found it was well worth the effort.
