PUNK Music Draft - Now Ongoing post awesome punk songs thread (1 Viewer)

Got my Thursday night ? and ? listening. Here are my favorite new songs/songs I never really paid enough attention to before

Against Me- Unprotected Sex with Multiple Partners-  chanting right a long with this one, great ####, right up my alley

Everything Misfits. I know I've heard these songs before but I don't know why they never struck me like they are now.

I am a Revenant by The Distillers  that is the awesome female vocal I was looking for
Done and done.

Does that mean you drafted it or are checking it out now?
I drafted it. It's one of my favorite punk songs of all time. It's from 2002. I don't want to give up the ghost too much, but I nearly weep when I hear it, but I do that often for a lot of songs. Just a great song, IMHO. They sold out in literally a minute for San Diego's Casbah. You couldn't get tickets even with refresh. They were two hundred bucks a pop. Just a great band.

in 10 years my "kicker" will be in the RnR HoF and your "stud RB" will be best remembered for having a track on "Now that Was Punk Vol 6"
lol, the joys of punk. I am glad we could get a controversial 1st pick. Definitely not a bad song

Great song. 02 was my punk wheelhouse but the Distillers never seemed to catch on around SE Michigan. At least not in my crowd.

F it, if no one goes soon i will pick something. no idea who is up, but getting itchy trigger finger. Got a song that could fit the current disposition of this thread too

I've got a NW Michigan band queued up for later. I think it's No. Michigan, anyway. It's actually a song about Michigan.

Has Ball and Chain or Story of My Life been taken? Probably not "punk" enough I don't imagine.
ehh, Mike Ness definitely fits the bill for being punk enough. I think some Social D was picked, and if not i am positive it will soon too.

but that is the key with this draft, you figure we got like 50 years of punk music in here, in various forms.

I think Story of My Life was. I dont know if I would consider Social D punk (rockabilly?) But who the F cares? That record was balls out rock and roll beginning to end.

Totally punk enough. Great band. Just hasn't been picked. Like I ask Binky, why not participate? People's tastes vary, flap. So there is no canon, just making sure great songs get picked.

Great music. Just saw Social D in Nashville last month. Never gets old.

Also fitting that the punk draft is disjointed and scattershot. We have no idea what were doing. But I'm having a blast. Listened to Titus Andronicus' Dimed Out like 5 times today.

I'm just messing around in here. Not a lot of punkers where I'm from and I'm getting older. I love to reminisce. Gets me in the mood to listen to some. Been a while.

I drafted Story of My Life at the end of the 1st.  Not my favorite song of theirs, but in drafts like these I like to cross off some of the classics before drafting what I'm super into.  If someone had already drafted Sex Pistols before it got to me, I would have eliminated them from my board altogether

Bang the play button on our playlist.  That'll scratch the #### out of your itch.

Page 1 there is a link to out growing playlist. I've been listening to this and my old punk music the last few days while working out. It's great for it.

Earlier than I wanted to make this pick, but after learning about the Interrupters (been listening to the #### out of them) it has my mind on Tim Armstrong.  I love the guy and everything he does.  This album is one of those that has worn out my speakers in the 90's, 00's and 10's.

Rancid - Olympia WA

:whoosh:

I legit have no clue who these are
Locals.

SF hasn't had much of a punk scene for decades but these two bands are the best the City has produced, especially live

Punk is much better on a stage than on a turntable.  The lack of variety can tire me out over the course of an album but if I'm at a show, loud fast rules, except for Flipper.

He is annoying to try to watch play guitar bc he is a lefty. He has some sweet acoustic guitars on his hellcat line that I have my eyes on

So hard to narrow down 1 song from them

After this, we need a trivia game: Punk Band Drafted or Small College Football Mascot?

Minutemen?

Nads?

Savages?

Bantams?
Bantams is Trinity in CT. Minutemen is also UMASS -- formerly -- and a punk band. Yeah, it's both.

So that's what I've got for you on that front.

sunnava.... was literally this  just on a flipper deep dive since lunch, figuring out which tune I'd take.

Either this or “Ha Ha Ha”.

Favorite things ever said about Flipper, by members of Flipper:

”Flipper suffered for their art.  Now it’s your turn.”  And

”We don’t  want audiences with good taste.  We want audiences that taste good.”

Nailed those 2.

Nads is the mascot of the Rhode Island Design School...looking at that more closely, they probably don't actually have a football team.

Bruce is one of the less than 200000 musicians I technically know.  My roommate Monica dated Bruce's roommate Craig circa 1983.  I hung out at their place a number of times as we did back then.

Somebody else associated with the band must have lived near me on Oak and Divisadero because I used to see their van parked in the neighborhood almost every day.

Coup d'etat, Haha and sex bomb jumped to mind. Was going to go with Ever after the dive.

I had an unfair advantage. I'm from Hartford, CT, where Trinity is and the Minutemen are around.
