We've seen Kepi Ghoulie as an opener for a bunch of Bay Area shows. He's a lot of fun and always gets the crowd going.23.x - Groovie Ghoulies - Till Death Do Us Party
wow, have not thought of these guys in forever23.x - Groovie Ghoulies - Till Death Do Us Party
That's awesome. I own the vinyl version of Paul's Boutique and pull its gatefold butt every so often so I can relate to what you're saying which is pure nostalgia but the Beasties ruled.Ill leave this here instead of creating a new thread
My parents got me the new Beastie Boys book for Hanukkah. It is insanely good so far. Im about 200 pages in and they just started rapping. Everything up til now was about the punk and hardcore days. I listened to Adrocks first band on Alexa last night. It is really good for a early 1980s recording. I was expecting egg raid on mojo and got something like Snapcase/Strife
Cant wait to keep reading. It is a really big book and has some awesome pics including one in A7 with Harley Flannagan, Jimmy G and Yauch at some hardcore show. They are all like 15 years old
I feel a sense of accomplishment picking something that you weren't very familiar with.Going through the playlist now and loving it. The Adverts. What genius picked that? Love the Adolescents, too. Had always heard of them, but never listened.
That's cool. Is that the singer form Leftover Crack?nice thing about these drafts is it is helping to expand my spotify history and mix up my daily mixes and other recommendations. so maybe i will share a few in here that are coming up that i think are very cool.
Choking Victim - 500 Channels
the band broke up on the same day as recording their only album. love it.
Yea they broke up and most of the members formed Leftover CrackThat's cool. Is that the singer form Leftover Crack?
This was on my list of songs I wanted to draft. I also really like Infested, even though it makes me want to shower afterwards.nice thing about these drafts is it is helping to expand my spotify history and mix up my daily mixes and other recommendations. so maybe i will share a few in here that are coming up that i think are very cool.

IN for post-punk draft.saw the thread title change and hoped it was post punk now...... not post-draft punk.
pretty much what i think of as wellCan someone explain to me WTF post-punk means?
I always thought of it as like, what bands that start out as punk turn into when they grow up and learn how to play their instruments and write more complex music. But im sure that's not it.
Currently in line for a Protomartyr/Preoccupations showIN for post-punk draft.
I think of it as punk with some gothic or electronic influence but that's likely because most of the post-punk bands I really like have either that Joy Division influence or a dance/punk sound. Can someone explain to me WTF post-punk means?

2019 tour dates for Jawbox announced yesterday. Bad day for me for the Chicago show, but I'll jump through the hoops needed to make it happen.Jawbox has another cover that I thought about taking for my covers category.
I'm a complete honk for J Robbins in nearly all the bands he's been in / production work he's done.

Love this group.B @rockaction
2.x -- Big Black -- Kerosene
Big Black wasn't traditional punk rock in look or musical style - but I dare you to find more than a handful of people more tied to an ethos and a "FU, I'm doin this my way" than Steve Albini.
@Bonzai
Just saw on my FB feed that they are coming to SF in September. Tempted to goSaw them at Warped Tour once. Honestly they didn’t leave much of an impression one way or another.I have one on my list that I saw live while on a trip that fits this criteria. Not very well known here, but big over there and they put on a hell of a show. At the start of the draft I would have guessed nobody has heard of them, but people here know their ####, so I'm guessing they are familiar to some.
When you picked Millencolin it got me thinking. I've never seen them live, and I'm not sure I have been aware of any of their concerts in my vicinity. Always have wanted to see them
Saw this then other day and chuckled. How very punk.
I always thought of it as punk that brought in outside influences- usually more rhythmic/dancey- reggae, dancehall, new wave, whatever.I think of it as punk with some gothic or electronic influence but that's likely because most of the post-punk bands I really like have either that Joy Division influence or a dance/punk sound. Can someone explain to me WTF post-punk means?

Just watched a bit of this. Gives Rollins a bunch of crap too. Hank takes it in stride. Marky, not so muchI always thought of it as punk that brought in outside influences- usually more rhythmic/dancey- reggae, dancehall, new wave, whatever.
I was coming in to post this punk panel that my google news feed felt like it was important for me to watch (marky ramone and johnny rotten talking #### to each other).
yeah. rollins seems like the one who's still making a go of things on all fronts and probably has the most to lose by responding like an ####### like rotten. but I like that he said his band would've kicked their asses for calling them rich suburban kids.Just watched a bit of this. Black Flag vs. Sex Pistols Battle Royal would have been u-gly.yeah. rollins seems like the one who's still making a go of things on all fronts and probably has the most to lose by responding like an ####### like rotten. but I like that he said his band would've kicked their asses for calling them rich suburban kids.
black flag would've destroyed that bunch of poseurs.Black Flag vs. Sex Pistols Battle Royal would have been u-gly.
I'll take Black Flag even at -900 on the money line
Rollins could have handled the four of them by himself. Greg and Bill could have just sat on the sidelines, but I'd throw Kira in there just to add insult to injury.black flag would've destroyed that bunch of poseurs.

Richard Hell’s autobiography is a good read, “i dreamed I was a very clean tramp.”"But I did the Blank Generation album with Richard Hell, and you took his image. All you guys took Richard Hell’s image. That’s all you did."
Ignoring the bolded, that's actually true.

You can buy Richard Hell's Blank Generation on vinyl for a mere thirty-three dollars these days. I think he went in the seventh round or something of this draft to Mike Damone.
Looks great. Thanks for the rec.Richard Hell’s autobiography is a good read, “i dreamed I was a very clean tramp.”
