So bummed about his injuries. He was looking like a lethal playmaker and legit FF QB1.
Unfortunately it is just a bad comparison. AR has already made throws Lance can only dream about. Lance wasn't actually fast if you watch him play. AR is the most athletic QB ever so far. AR was averaging the most points per touch in the NFL this year in fantasy. It will all come down to health though. If he can't stay healthy he obviously won't be a fantasy asset. Next year will be interesting to watch though.Be careful, I did the comparison to Trey Lance immediately and got heckled all summer and even got roasted for letting CJ Stroud go as my QB2 before the season opener even though i got him back on waivers pretty quick. And I have a long bread crumb trail in the Houston Texans thread, I've been talking about CJStroud as the prize in the '23 Draft for quite some time.Richardson could go 2 ways - being able to play a bit and also take mostly a redshirt year this season to learn could be huge for his development.
However, if he gets another season ending injury next year his value will plummet and could be looking at the next Trey Lance
-I never hung around the off season much after the Super Bowl and then after the Draft I like to take a long NFL break before camps open and whatnot.
You can tell, I don't play Dynasty, used to and prefer Redraft. But last year I was kind of intrigued by a lot of off season things and stayed around much of the off season and we have quite a different vibe around here in March thru July I would say
My big beef were folks pimping ARich as a top 10 QB in Redraft as a Rookie...that some serious cheeba that folks were smoking.
I agree with @Todem about his body giving out after 4-5 years, especially if he gets banged up again which he will because he's not a Quarterback, he prefers to make plays with his legs.
I've had Jalen Hurts all season, he's been injured but he looks so slow when he's running around right now. And he took Philly all the way to the SB last year.
People that don't think I like mobility are fooling themselves, I can see what a mobile QB offers but I don't see the accurate arm yet and that is what wins games.
There is a disconnect here somewhere that revolves around ARich being a Top 5 FF QB and an actual NFL Top 5 Quarterback
For years I had to listen to how great Russ Wilson was because he was decent in FF but you knew once they paid him that he could not carry the Seahawks to a Super Bowl
I know ARich will have some weeks and on those weeks his supporters are going to blare trumpets but he also might lose his job next year if he doesn't produce wins.
Is ARich really a Top 5-10 Quarterback in the NFL? i like your Trey Lance comparison Kid but I caution you comparing him to Trey Lance, nobody with a long term investment around here wants to hear that.
I disagree with the notion that he's just a running qb. He was showing accelerated progress passing the ball for a rookie. Is he injury prone? Who knows. Everyone is getting hurt now including Stroud. I appreciate your opinion but to say he'll be out of the league in 4 to 5 years is a bit of a stretch.Unfortunately it is just a bad comparison. I'm still high on him, despite the lost development time (in terms of playing - I'm sure he learned from the sidelines to a degree). I think he is an injury risk but the article posted today by Faust gives hope he can change that some by altering his style of play -- which is needed.Curious, where are you drafting him next year in a SF dynasty startup? How early you think he goes? Does anyone consider him an injury risk or think this was a freak thing?
Yep, if he was able to stay healthy he was surely going to finish as a top 10 QB.So bummed about his injuries. He was looking like a lethal playmaker and legit FF QB1.
I actually think if he might have been the #1 QB in fantasy if healthy.Yep, if he was able to stay healthy he was surely going to finish as a top 10 QB.So bummed about his injuries. He was looking like a lethal playmaker and legit FF QB1.
He was scoring in bunches out of the gate. He just needs to stay healthy. It’s a little concerning that he got hurt in every game he played.Dudes legit. Gonna be fun to watch. They need to add another outside weapon and offensive line depth. Stay healthy kid.
Yep. One of the hardest things to coach is to convince young players the increase in risk for injury for two more yards isn't worth it. Pacheco comes to mind. That fight he has to get every yard is one of his biggest skills, but also one of his worst. Finding the balance is hard.He just needs to stay healthy. Smart but some guys just can’t help themselves in the moment. We shall see.In case you did not see it this is what he said about it yesterday.Yep. “It’s just a matter of being out there and learning when to get down,” the 21-year-old said on Thursday. “Some of the injuries were unfortunate, hitting my knee on the turf pretty hard, stuff that I can’t control. But the ones that I can control, I got to prevent those. Like me slowing down (in Houston) near the end zone and getting the concussion, that’s completely on me. Getting tackled (against the Titans), I can’t really prevent that. I was trying to brace myself for it and unfortunately, my shoulder did what it did.
“It’s being a little smarter when the time is needed. I can’t try to run through everybody. If its 1st-and-10, get what I can get and get down, get to the sidelines, get out of bounds. But if the game is on the line, go out there and compete. It’s just a matter of being smart for myself and for the team.”
Yeah I love Pacheco but I’m pretty sure his career will be very short lived.Yep. It definitely makes sense for best ball or big tournaments. I don’t think it matters for a traditional league. Though for dynasty, I think if you really believe in a QB then getting his TE/WR is a nice way to extend that bet on the QB you believe in.Why do people care about "stacking" the QB and WR? Makes no sense to me

Anthony Richardson’s going CRAZY in 2024
Some Advanced Metrics You NEED to see
- 2nd in Pace of Play (2.21)
- 3rd in Redzone Carries Per Game (2.0)
- 5th in Carries Per Game (6.3)
- 5th in Rush Yards Per Game (34.0)
- 7th in Rush TD’s (4)
The fact that Richardson was 7th in rushing TD’s and ONLY played in 4 games just shows you how outrageously HIGH his upside is.
2 of the 4 games he played in, Richardson played LESS THAN 40% of the snaps. No, I’m not worried about his durability moving forward.
His weekly finishes:
Week 1: 22.92 points, QB4 (96% SNP%)
Week 2: 17.74 points, QB19 (32% SNP%)
Week 4: 33.6 points, QB2 (100% SNP%)
Week 5: 4.42 points, QB29 (33% SNP%)
Anthony Richardson’s 6’4, 244 lbs, he has the #1 Relative Athletic Score out of ALL 916 QB’s charted since 1987. He scored a PERFECT 10.00 out of 10.00.
The 4th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft is going to have a HUGE season in 2024. I'm ALL IN fellas, you should be as well.
Jeff Mueller, PT, DPT
Fantasy points per NFL snap:
Josh Allen 0.338
Lamar Jackson 0.315
Jalen Hurts 0.313
Patrick Mahomes 0.256
CJ Stroud 0.271
CJ Stroud Wk9-18 0.294
(first QB1 overall game Wk9 vs TB)
Anthony Richardson in first 4 games of NFL career w/ two injuries: 0.408
On a per snap basis, ARich has an upside that CJ Stroud likely can’t touch in fantasy football.
Only reason you’d take Stroud over ARich is a bet on health.
Decide now. If ARich isn’t actually “injury prone”, this is the last injury discount you’ll get.
Hopeful upside is massive in our community. I project I'll own zero shares of this guy. Not that I don't think he will produce, it's that his hopeful upside will drive him out of my investment range.Richardson may be a legit fantasy option, but to try to project a full season from such a small sample size leads to crazy projections. Breaking things down per snap really inflates the projected numbers. Extrapolating his output from last year that way would mean Richardson would end up with 28 rushing TD. That seems . . . high.
Is this true? I'm not sure I've ever seen a bigger arm than Allen's. From last year's class, it seemed to me (eyeball test) that Levis had the strongest arm.His upside is Josh Allen with a bigger arm. His downside is RG3. Helluva ride either way.

I like AR for his potential, but Stroud is reality. I wouldn't make that trade either. He may not have quite the ceiling of Richardson, but no way in hell am I giving up Stroud for him.
I’m fortunate to have AR and Allen as my 2QBs in my SF keeper league, but I am going to make sure I have a solid third option in case AR falters or gets seriously hurt again.Hopeful upside is massive in our community. Chris Ballard (Colts GM) on Anthony Richardson:
"When he plays, people defend you a little differently. I think we saw it already, it kind of naturally happens when he's in there, either with his feet or with his arm because of what he's able to do. Look, he's got a lot of work to do and there will be some moments next year where he'll still look like a rookie. It's going to happen. I think his ability to push the ball down the field and create allows for those explosive plays to happen."

Anthony Richardson (shoulder) has begun throwing after undergoing shoulder surgery in October.
In a video posted to social media by Richardson’s agent, Deiric Jackson, Richardson can be seen lightly throwing in the direction of the camera. The No. 4 overall pick in last year’s draft threw only 84 passes across four games before undergoing season-ending shoulder surgery but appears to be progressing well in his recovery. While we don’t yet have a timeline for his return, Richardson said in December that he’s “progressing way faster than everyone thought” he would. It sounds like he’ll be good to go by training camp at the latest, although we’ll receive official word on his status throughout the offseason.
Yes, guessing AR over Gibbs in SF ranks. But which ranks are you using as your standard?Last year when trying to make a trade with a non-contender in a SF keeper league, I dangled Anthony Richardson to which the owner was offended. I was being honest when I told him that Richarson was a cornerstone player in our format. In the heat of the moment, I bet him next year's league fee that Richardson would be ranked higher than any player on his current roster when we draft next year (using SF rankings).
His only good player was Gibbs (back when it was more of a timeshare with Monty). Now that Gibbs has emerged, I fear I'll lose, but I think it will be close.
What do you think? Will Richardson be ranked ahead of Gibbs in a SF draft?
ESPN rankings. Hopefully they do SF rankings somewhere on the site.Yes, guessing AR over Gibbs in SF ranks. Anthony Richardson (shoulder) is expected to participate in spring practices.
Colts HC Shane Steichen said Richardson “should be” fully cleared for full activities and added that Richardson is “super fired up” to get back on the field. The No. 4 overall pick in last year’s draft played in parts of only four games last season before a severe AC joint sprain ended his season, but he resumed throwing more than a month ago and is trending toward being ready for spring practices and training camp. When he was healthy, Richardson looked like a fantasy stud, and has been taken high in drafts early this offseason. Assuming he’s in the clear come Week 1, Richardson could be in for an exciting 2024 campaign.

Watching Shane Steichen get excited talking about Anthony Richardson's processing speed makes me unreasonably happy.
Credit to Holder for the great question to get him going.

Ran into a familiar face today
@GVOaant
In case you’re wondering, he threw more than 40 passes today with a regulation football and the ball was coming out HOT. That shoulder’s fine.
The curse of The Running Quarterback™.Can’t wait to see him in action again, but man I’m going to be holding my breath every time he takes off out of the pocket.
Every time I see this topic bumped I’m thinking “please be good news please be good news please be good news”Can’t wait to see him in action again, but man I’m going to be holding my breath every time he takes off out of the pocket.
To some extent, yes, but some running QBs get hurt more than others. It’s a matter of managing risk when to run/slide, etc.The curse of The Running Quarterback™.Can’t wait to see him in action again, but man I’m going to be holding my breath every time he takes off out of the pocket.
True, the statue position can get blindsided pretty bad. Like you said both types need to know when to turtle or get out of bounds.some running QBs get hurt more than others. It’s a matter of managing risk when to run/slide, etc.
But we see pocket passers get hurt a lot too - it’s just a vulnerable position and subject to a lot of luck in avoiding injuries.
