QB Anthony Richardson, IND (3 Viewers)

I did some research and while it was reported earlier this year that Richardson was going to be training with Josh Allen and Chris Hess, those plans apparently did not materialize:
This is why earlier when you posted this I mentioned this was like the Rashee Rice injury misinformation. Something like everyone was wrong about.

FWIW I knew early this off-season he did not work out with Allen but swore I saw reports he was working out with Hess. You can sure find a lot of articles and tweets saying such.To the point I'd not believe otherwise if it was coming from anyone other then the horse's mouth.
Even Gemini AI is confused about it when I just asked it

Already hurt. Unblocked sack, hurt arm. Whoever missed that block should get cut.
Yep. Got his hand smashed between his chest and defenders face mask. Nothing bad for a normal person. Possibly career threatening for AR. Dude is ALWAYS hurt.

AR done for the night. Just as well.

Didn’t seem to be hurt badly. Is it too soon to waive the white flag for Colts fans?

Drafted him in a contract league his rookie year. Was going to cut him but someone offered a middling pick the day before the cutdown day.

Dude just cannot catch a break. Absolutely snakebitten.
Yep and I don’t put any blame on him for not recognizing that, seemed clearly like a blown assignment.

ETA-actually more that I watch it I got to put some blame on him.
I mean, Dude came in completely unblocked.
He did for sure but perhaps he should have done a better recognizing the hot read? Tough play no matter.

Past that I see the SP never disappoints and have already buried him again and calling this over which I think is pretty far from the case provided he's not going to miss time.

dislocated pinky on throwing hand - figure at least 4 wk injury - DJ likely the starter now
Not so sure: https://x.com/ProFootballDoc/status/1953604104829485162
Yeah, I believe I recall Steve Young dislocating a ring finger and having them pop it back in and coming right back into the game. As long as it’s not broken or needs surgery of some sort… He should be fine.

Well, he’ll still be Anthony Richardson, but he should be able to play.
;)

ETA: maybe it will help with the accuracy issues. 💡

I maintain; Richardson's athletic abilities and potential for greatness is irrelevant until he shows that he can finish more than three games in a row.

Until then, for fantasy purposes, he should be viewed, and drafted, as a high upside backup. At best.

smh

-Dislocated finger being reported on top of any potential concussion like symptoms, not sure if he's cleared all that yet
This is a QB that already was a long shot to make it, very low completion % in college, he was gonna be a 250 lb battering ram and run over, around and past everyone
Not so much and it's year 3. His passing skills are not going to carry him thru all of this

I’ll take 1 game in a row at this point.

Sheesh, Richardson couldn't stay healthy. And for life of me, I fail to understand how is it Jones received $10M+ from Colts?! Did they not see how he played for Giants?!

His passing looked better up until his tackle completely failed to protect his blind side.

One pass was called back due to penalty, so in live action he was 3 for 4. If that's indicative of him taking a step forward, this is his team, IF he can stay healthy.

I do worry about that healthy thing, especially if his line isn't going to be as good as we all thought.

Even if he is improved, impossible to trust he is able to remain on the field for a long period of time at this point.
This.

To be fair, I do think there is a alot of 'Day 1 install' talk amongst the talking heads that's a bit unfair - like we haven't seen a blindside QB sack before. But it's just another fresh reminder of how he's struggled to stay on the field.

What’s more bothersome to me than yet another injury was his lack of awareness of the defender left unblocked on his frontside. I know he was looking left immediately, but you’d hope he’d have either recognized the blocking issue pre snap/at the snap, or caught the defender steaming down on him through his peripheral vision. The intangibles are just as important as the health concerns IMO.

NFL Insider Jordan Schultz reports Anthony Richardson (finger) “had all his X-rays come. back clean and will be back on the practice field in the coming days.”
This report comes just hours after head coach Shane Steichen said Richardson would be “day-to-day” with the finger injury he suffered in Thursday night’s preseason game. Richardson himself said he doesn’t expect to miss much time with the injury, so we should expect to see him back in short order.
X-rays clean. He’s fine.

We may now resume watching the saddest QB competition ever.

Let’s go AR - time to step it up.

I’ve watched that play 5x now. Feels like a real stretch to put that one on ARich.

Someone blew their assignment. Bad. ARich did his job. He started on his checkdowns, and the defender came through unabated, and was in his lap in .3 seconds.

All due respect, but there is no possible “AR should have…” statement that is fair or correct to assign to ARich on this one. This absolutely was not his fault. And further, if they don’t get their OL cleaned up, no QB will be successful in Indy. That was a horrific display.
