QB Bryce Young, CAR (1 Viewer)

Rappaport says Bryce still is the plan, and Russini says they are breaking up.

There you have it, people. This is really what I think of his chances: I am more interested in which news person gets the L on this story.

He's with a train wreck of an organization, but we need to remember that he can also be an awful prospect. It's possible that he may have sucked in HOU. Sucked less? Sure. But anyone thinks he would be doing close to what Stroud is doing? If so, we live in different realities.

He's had good blocking. Bears, Ravens, Rams, Raiders NYG, Pats, PIT--all have had much worse pass blocking this year, and I am sure we can think of more. Just because Tepper is a donkey, doesn't mean Bryce isn't an awful QB.

Maybe. How can anyone feel for certain though? Look at what’s currently going on around the league: on one hand we’re told that Purdy is only good because he’s on the 49ers. On the other hand we’ve got guys like Malik Willis who looked horrible in Tennessee and yet today with the Packers he’s 12/14 200, 6 carries 70 yards and 2 total tds and Darnold who has looked lost most of his professional QB’ing career and he’s having another nice day for the Vikings against the Texans.

Young looked decent in his single drive, but to be fair a lot of Bears backups were in as well.

Dalton didn't look great and the panthers WRs dropped at least 5-6 balls this game.

Guy is at a major crossroads in a profession he has been treated like a god for most of his life. This is a big game. Odds are they go back to Dalton. He needs a decent game to create some value for himself. I just cant see him getting it.

Oh, believe me, the Panthers are done with Young. They've seen what they need to see and he has been found wanting.

He would need to have a 400 yard, 6 TD game with 100 rushing yards to even move the needle.

Nah. A W with 250 yards and a couple tds would be a nice start. It hasn’t been pretty for him, but it’s also not over yet. We’ve seen this story before.

Yeah, we have, and it always ends with the team moving on. 1.5 years is plenty enough time. The Panthers are moving on. Young is NOT the future. Again, that's patently obvious.

It's a very long shot.

Maybe so, but that’s also what everyone said about Goff after his rookie season too.

I dont know Young as a person. Have no idea how he processes information. How he practices. How he watches film. How he is around other elite athletes. I have no idea. Only thing I do know is the NFL QB is the hardest position to play and he is gonna get 3 plus more chances. Its on him now starting this week. Dudes gotta be feeling the pressure. Maybe he isn't though and that's the problem.

I'll always advocate sitting any Rookie for at least half a season their first year. There is so much to process early on and only the elite tier can do that. The ship has sailed on Young being Elite, but he could still be an NFL QB in the right situation. My expectations are still limited for him, but I am confident the benching was a net positive.

I don’t understand how anyone can not use their eyes and putting all the important other factors aside which by all accounts he has (great work ethic, great teammate, great character) he is so physically overmatched at the NFL level!!!!

Just trust your eyes.

He’s so overmatched but I don’t want to piss off simey, so I won’t go into to it too much. He’s not big enough or strong enough nor has the arm enough to do it. It was a colossal misstep by the Panthers, and they’re duly paying for overthinking everything (they are rumored to have deferred to the owner and the owner’s wife, allowing that sort of input to pick the QB based on interviews).

That's part of the problem in today's NFL with so much money on the line. Highly drafted QBs are thrown to the wolves immediately nowadays, whereas in years past they could hold the clipboard for a year or so and learn. The problem is that for every Stroud and Daniels that hits right away, the landscape is littered with guys that falter badly, often to the point of losing their confidence and never fulfilling their promise. And given that highly drafted QBs obviously go to weaker teams (hence why they're drafting there), it typically exacerbates the situation.

Lots just need time. Geno Smith, Baker Mayfield, Sam Darnold are a few more that just needed time.

And I agree with the poster that was 2 below your post that said rookie QBs should sit. So much pressure these days for coaches and GMs to perform they throw out these QBs that aren't ready.

I’m rooting for this kid to somehow bounce back but not counting on it of course.
As a raiders fan, I also dislike the broncos of course, so wouldn’t mind a miracle in for him.

There is nothing in his performance that gives a glimmer of hope he will be a serviceable starter. I also don’t fault panthers for giving him this week to put something on tape that is a positive.

We'll see if he learned anything over the last month and a half from watching. This could get real ugly though against Denver D.

Its not like Andy Dalton was lighting it up. He caught the Raiders off guard and had a great game so everyone immediately pointed to Young as the problem.

Over the last 4 games Dalton has averaged 167 yards passing, 1 TD and 1.5 INTs. I watched him play the Bears and his yards were mostly garbage time / 2 minute drill stuff. He threw another INT that was overturned because the DB stepped out of bounds.

Carolina was outscored 61-148 during that stretch. They are just a trash team at the moment.

At this point, Carolina needs to see what they have in all their young players and start planning for 2025 as the #1 pick in the draft. If Young is indeed a lost cause, they need to determine if they're using another top pick for a QB or try to sign a veteran QB. You know, someone like Sam Darnold. :ROFLMAO:

It's not looking good, but I wouldn't write Young off after <20 games. Carolina was AWFUL last year and had as little talent as I can remember. That year shouldn't be counted against him. I'm letting Young start the ROS and seeing what else he can put on tape if I'm Carolina. They need to surround Young with more talent and give him time once he has talent around him before throwing in the towel.

I agree it is not looking good but hopefully with some time he can grow and improve. Not holding my breath but it is always better for fantasy and the NFL if the QBs turn out to be good. I believe too many rookies are rushed into a starting job and thrown to the wolves.

Poor kid. I’m rooting for him and “forced” to start him at SuperFlex against the tough Denver D. If he gets to 15 points, I’ll be ecstatic.

Yeah, he just hasn't got it. Bust.

CAR has seen enough, IMO.

Bryce Young completed 24-of-37 passes for 224 yards with two touchdowns and two interceptions in the Panthers’ 28-14, Week 8 loss to the Broncos while adding three carries for six yards.

Things started well for Young. He led the team on a scoring drive on the first possession, and he found Xavier Legette for a six-yard score on a well-thrown slant. From that point on, it was mostly shaky for Young outside of a few throws and a meaningless touchdown to Jalen Coker with just 18 seconds left in the contest, and he threw the two costly picks to keep Carolina from getting back in the game. If Young gets the nod next week — and that’s assuming he isn’t traded — he’ll take on the Saints in Week 9. It’s hard to imagine there aren’t better options out there to start.

Well that benching was quicker then I would have thought. Just shows the Panthers realize the best path for them is for him to actually be good. Is he? Been horrible so far. Lots of people thought he was done in Carolina. Guess those people are wrong. Looks like he is gonna get one more shot with them. All on u you now kid.

Oh, he's done. The odds ain't good that he's suddenly going to "get it" and become Jayden Daniels.
