QB C.J. Stroud, HOU (1 Viewer)

Only two weeks, but currently on pace to break David Carr's single season sack record of 76 times. 11 sacks through 2 weeks is no bueno, and an injury feels inevitable at this point.
he was playing injured yesterday but that's what happens when you got 4 starting O-linemen out. Still to put up almost 400 yards and 2 TDs(a couple of them came back) with those circumstances is impressive and he's made Robert Woods fantasy relevant, Tank and Nico look legit too.

Oh I like him (and am heavily invested in Dell lol, should have grabbed some Nico too while I could), I'm just worried about his health. He's not a little guy like Young, but even monsters like Big Ben couldn't stay healthy through repeated hits in the backfield. A lot of luck in it too, even if he can physically take the beating, all you need is to twist or land the wrong way and suddenly your season is over. I hope they make whatever adjustments they need to so he can stay upright. I'm a huge DeMeco fan so I was rooting for this whole team this year. Even bet the over on their total wins this season. Off to a rough start, but only need 6 to hit it for me haha.

Texans offensive coordinator Bobby Slowik said C.J. Stroud is on an “arm management program.”

Stroud entered Week 2 against the Colts as questionable after missing some practice time with an injury to his throwing shoulder. He played well against Indianapolis, throwing for 384 yards and two touchdowns in a loss. Slowick said the team would be careful with the rookie quarterback’s workload throughout the season. “It may be some days he’s limited on throws, it may be some days he’s not limited on throws, but he’s limited on other stuff that’s not team-period related,” Slowik said. “And that is kind of a week-to-week thing and it’s an individual thing as we go through the year. So he’s always going to be on an arm maintenance program every quarterback is it’s just what we’re doing that specific week.” If Stroud were to miss time, Davis Mills would presumably start for Houston. Stroud is a solid streaming play in Week 3 against the Jaguars.

Never thought I'd think of him as a fantasy threat this year but he's really impressive. Definitely passing all the eye tests. Hope he remains healthy with this poverty OL.

It was always crazy to me to see so many people saying that Young was clearly a better prospect than Stroud.

And unfortunately, Stroud is used to playing behind a bad O-line. OSU’s line was not very good last year (or this year).

C.J. Stroud completed 20-of-30 passes for 280 yards and two touchdowns in the Texans’ 37-17, Week 3 win over the Jaguars, adding 14 yards on three rush attempts.

He had a strong connection all-day with [Nathaniel] Dell, throwing a 68-yard touchdown to the fellow rookie. Stroud entered Week 3 on an “arm management plan”, and wound up throwing 30 passes, coasting to a win over a weak Jaguars defense. A combination of play-action success and spreading the ball out to eight individual receivers lifted Stroud to his first career victory. Stroud has yet to throw an interception and will look to continue his passing success in Week 4 against the Steelers.

This was a game where you start to get excited about the HOU offense. They had positive game script for most of the game and the line will get better over the next 2 weeks, which will benefit not only Stroud but Dameon Pierce as well.

I'm in a quandary. I m not going to carry more than 2 QBs in a standard league format. Bench isn't long enough and only play one at a time. I like what I see in Stroud and considered dumping my second string QB for him but the problem is both Stroud and my lead QB (Burrows) have the same bye week. So I need to keep Goff.

I would drop Burrows, I have no idea who that is.

you'll be cutting Burrow soon enough

I would have cut Burrow already in standard but stupid Yahoo still has him on the can't cut list... but to get on topic, extremely happy so far with using the 1.04 in SF for him, especially as I would have needed to force him in the next few weeks because Carr

Was my favorite QB in the draft and glad we have a share in my long running dynasty league.

Started him in weeks 2 and 3 and he will be in there each week.

Kid is for real.

saw a thing on youtube apparently he has a higher yards/pass avg than Mahomes, Peyton, and a few other QBs through first few games. stud QB for the next 10+ years

I'm still amazed that some new, supposedly high caliber test came out of nowhere and tanked his draft value. He was being discussed as the top pick! If these trends continue - and he looks legit - this could be another historic draft miss. And that test should be canned.

Tanked. Absolutely. He went into free fall in the draft.
Almost Will Levis levels. Really felt bad for the guy.

Gosh I hope it doesn't come to that. I need Burrow to get well and get right. Hard to let go. Might carry 3 QBs for a week and see.

not surprised at all it rumor was more likely from a team that wanted him to slip by the Texans and fall into their lap

Not as terrible a situation as I thought. He has a half decent RB, a developing receiving core, and a non-dominant D that will require them to score. The kid is getting the ball out and he has some wheels. Lots of good pieces to a valuable fantasy QB

Seriously considering dropping Watson for him (also have Goff) but just can’t do it. Maybe I’m thinking too much in the past though.

I have Wilson backing up Hurts but thinking I should get Stroud now before someone else does

ETA: Wilson faces Buffalo on the road on MNF when Hurts is on a bye so I’m pulling the trigger on Stroud

So how would y'all rank Stroud rest of season vs. the other guys who were ranked in the late QB1 to high QB2 range in pre-season ADP?

Gun to head, you have a 1-for-1 trade offer which you must accept or reject. Are you going with:

Stroud or:

Daniel Jones?
Dak Prescott?
Geno Smith?
Jared Goff?
Russ Wilson?

And if you want to get really spicy:

Stroud or Joe Burrow?

Not even going to add Fields, I assume quite a few folks have picked up Stroud as a Plan B for having drafted Fields to begin with.

Way too early but Stroud plays TEN’s pass funnel defense in weeks 15 and 17… could be really juicy. I picked him up to backup ARich and gonna roll the 2 rookies. Keeper league too so I’ll probably keep one of the two depending how the year shapes up.

I'd take Stroud over Dimes, Prescott, Geno, and Russ. I'd take Goff and Burrow over Stroud.

I'm currently debating whether to drop Fields for Stroud...really want to, but having a hard time doing it with the rushing upside of Fields if they can right the ship.

Stroud is legit and there are some nice pieces there. Good for Houston. I don’t think they’re regretting that Watson trade one bit.
