Something smells fishy here.
Yeah, definitely a developing issue. This guy could be mentally checking out and that could lead to who knows what.

FWIW, Watson had an excellent 79.4 QBR in his last game vs a good Titan defense that shut down the run. Speculation is running rampant.Something smells fishy here.

The Cleveland Plain Dealer’s Mary Kay Cabot reports there is no structural damage to Deshaun Watson’s shoulder.
Cabot said Thursday on the Pat McAfee Show that Watson has a bruised rotator cuff — an injury that could take up to six weeks to fully heal. Watson has been medically cleared by the Browns staff to return to the field. Watson, who did not practice Wednesday, is iffy to suit up against the 49ers in Week 6. The Browns could be forced to start journeyman QB PJ Walker against San Francisco, effectively destroying fantasy value for every fantasy-relevant Browns player this week.
CBS’ Josina Anderson reports Deshaun Watson (shoulder) will be sidelined for Week 6 against the 49ers.
Things had been trending this way all week. It’s very concerning for Watson’s going-forward status that he couldn’t even make it to Friday before being ruled out. Watson has reportedly been medically cleared, while testing has revealed no structural damage, but he has now been unable to go both before and after the Browns’ Week 5 bye. The vibe in Berea was strange all week. Sub-replacement level journeyman P.J. Walker has been tabbed to start in Watson’s absence, and is a damaging downgrade against the 49ers’ elite defense. Amari Cooper cannot be trusted as a WR2, for instance. Watson should be considered questionable, at best, for Week 7 in Indianapolis.
Good Titan defense? You sure we’re watching the same corners?FWIW, Watson had an excellent 79.4 QBR in his last game vs a good Titan defense that shut down the run. Speculation is running rampant.Something smells fishy here.

What is weird? DW is injured and doesn't want to push it. A QBs throwing shoulder is kind of important. This situation is getting weird. But more importantly, we will not see another fully guaranteed contract for at least 10 years.

Ahhhh. I guess we shouldn't ever question the medical staff or trust players to make their own decisions about their health. When a team has Invested $250m in a guy, they don't want to put him in harms way. They want him to be healthy the full amount of time hey paid for. Why would they risk his career if he's hurt?Ahhhh. I'm skeptical of the media and prefer to hear both sides of the story. I don't recall seeing anything from DW since this came out. That's what I mean. Yeah, the way this is being handled in the media is making me think the Front Office has massive buyers’ remorse and is looking to set the stage for an out on the contract, maybe? Is it possible the owner wants return on that investment and is leaking info for pressure purposes?
This is the same team that cleared Baker Mayfield to play when his arm was still in a sling right? Lol. I get it, people hate Watson. But they seem completely unable to have a discussion without it being poisoned by that hate.Ahhhh. Apples and Oranges.A little more on the Deshaun Watson thing, and not playing when you are medically cleared.
This is pure speculation on my part, which is always dangerous, but I would imagine David Njoku playing two days after he had a serious accident and was burned factors somewhere in the context.

You’re better than this.
ESPN’s Jake Trotter said Deshaun Watson declined to give an update on his shoulder when questioned about it on Friday.
Watson has already been ruled out for Week 6 against the 49ers, but we’ve received little clarity on his injury since learning there was no structural damage to his shoulder. We know Watson was cleared to play in Week 4 against the Ravens before ultimately sitting out, and assumed a Week 5 bye would have him ready to go. Instead, another week of missed practices have left us with more questions than answers about when we could expect to see Watson back on the field. Head coach Kevin Stefanski said he would treat Watson’s situation as “day-to-day” for the time being. We’ll see if he is able to practice next week when the Browns prepare to take on the Colts for Week 7.
You are right , JB. A locker room sees a guy that had his face burnt showing up to play and then their overpaid QB who the medical staff says is good to go sitting out, it doesn't sit well with players.Apples and Oranges.A little more on the Deshaun Watson thing, and not playing when you are medically cleared.

I saw Njoku's face and I have no doubt that guy has earned the respect of everyone in that building. But while I'm sure he had some discomfort, and I know I heard actually putting on a helmet was a challenge, so long as the pain was not an issue he did not have anything medically going on that prevented him from running , catching or blocking. Of doing his job.
Watson apparently can't push the ball. He can't do his job.
That part is an apples to oranges comp.
But where I can agree with you Joe is I'm sure a lot of players on the Browns feel like even if Watson can't drive the ball downfield he should play anyway. Like Burrow did. That they'd be better off with him managing the offense even at way less then 100% then the alternative.
Stefanksi both letting everyone know that Watson was cleared to play and saying how much of a warrior was for Njoku playing was hard to miss. Which I personally think Stefanski was wrong to go out of his way to put out that info on Watson in that manner, no need for it. Understand he's frustrated because his job is on the line, not the guy with the guaranteed contract. But it seemed clear to me he thought Watson would play and it would only make sense there are players who felt the same way.
That's crazy talk. When a team has Invested $250m in a guy, they don't want to put him in harms way. They want him to be healthy the full amount of time hey paid for. I get the joke but I'm saying if Watson is legitimately dinged up, you'd think the team would protect him to the media. If Burrow was sitting out but the Bengals said he's good, his teammates would think the same thing. That's crazy talk. When a team has Invested $250m in a guy, they don't want to put him in harms way. Watson got hurt playing football. he can’t throw a football effectively right now.
I don’t believe players judge each other’s football injuries.
maybe later on we learn that they did, but right now i don’t think it’s legit.
oh and btw, Njoku’s off field injury that he (amazingly) played through last week, is now causing him to miss Sunday’s game.
I wonder how his teammates feel about that?

No worries. We can disagree there. And hopefully without the "you're better than that" shots. But we'll see.

Do you have the link for where he's been declared out for Sunday's game?

Yes. Very. Nothing about this situation is normal. You don't go from being "medically cleared to play" week 4 and now out half a season week 6. Either Cleveland medical team is completely incompetent to the point of negligence or something else is happening here.I guess things changed in a hurry considering he's been ruled out and might miss multiple weeks. Though it doesn't make a ton of sense for the browns to be putting out word "he's cleared to play" without actually talking to Watson to find out if he IS going to play... it is also the Browns. Hand them a gun and there's a 90% chance it'll immediately be aimed at their own foot.
