Cabot said Thursday on the Pat McAfee Show that Watson has a bruised rotator cuff — an injury that could take up to six weeks to fully heal. Watson has been medically cleared by the Browns staff to return to the field. Watson, who did not practice Wednesday, is iffy to suit up against the 49ers in Week 6. The Browns could be forced to start journeyman QB PJ Walker against San Francisco, effectively destroying fantasy value for every fantasy-relevant Browns player this week.

I saw Njoku's face and I have no doubt that guy has earned the respect of everyone in that building. But while I'm sure he had some discomfort, and I know I heard actually putting on a helmet was a challenge, so long as the pain was not an issue he did not have anything medically going on that prevented him from running , catching or blocking. Of doing his job.


Watson apparently can't push the ball. He can't do his job.

That part is an apples to oranges comp.

But where I can agree with you Joe is I'm sure a lot of players on the Browns feel like even if Watson can't drive the ball downfield he should play anyway. Like Burrow did. That they'd be better off with him managing the offense even at way less then 100% then the alternative.

Stefanksi both letting everyone know that Watson was cleared to play and saying how much of a warrior was for Njoku playing was hard to miss. Which I personally think Stefanski was wrong to go out of his way to put out that info on Watson in that manner, no need for it. Understand he's frustrated because his job is on the line, not the guy with the guaranteed contract. But it seemed clear to me he thought Watson would play and it would only make sense there are players who felt the same way.

I'll be that guy. This is awesome. I never root for injury, but I think its ok to celebrate Watson having one, and I highly doubt I'm alone in that thinking.

PJ Walker has no business in the NFL, he's awful. I doubt the Browns can win a single game with him starting. So if Watson is out for multiple weeks, 2-5 is very possible, if not the most likely scenario, and Houston has their 1st rounder.

As much as people are ragging on Russell Wilson today, this Watson trade was SO much worse. He's played mediocre at best, he's injured, has a fully guaranteed contract, they have no 1sts, and the guy who could have maybe kept the offense afloat is on IR. Its not looking good for the Browns right now. It is looking pretty good for Houston (finally) who also has a better QB.

Yes. Very. Nothing about this situation is normal. You don't go from being "medically cleared to play" week 4 and now out half a season week 6. Either Cleveland medical team is completely incompetent to the point of negligence or something else is happening here.

This is the same team that cleared Baker Mayfield to play when his arm was still in a sling right? Lol. I get it, people hate Watson. But they seem completely unable to have a discussion without it being poisoned by that hate.

Though it doesn't make a ton of sense for the browns to be putting out word "he's cleared to play" without actually talking to Watson to find out if he IS going to play... it is also the Browns. Hand them a gun and there's a 90% chance it'll immediately be aimed at their own foot.

While it was over 10 years ago, we are talking about a team that got sued by multiple players because the facilities were apparently so unsanitary they all got staph infections rehabbing there.

I'm going to throw this out there.

I think a lot of this is Watson has been so heavily criticized for his mainly lackluster play in Cleveland that he's sensitive to the criticism he'll get if he plays and can't function well knowing that a lot of people are not going to be offering excuses/support that it's due to the shoulder. They'll just keep pushing the narrative how sorry he is playing, what a bad trade this is, etc,etc. Which could be a true narrative, don't get me wrong, but I think from where he stands he's rather not play if he can't function and that may not be the case if he's not been under constant criticism for so long.
