On pace for 3800 yards passing, 20 TDs, 14 picks ( ) and 58% completion percentage which should be quite a bit higher if he had competent receivers. Add in on pace for 230 yards rushing and 6 running TDs as well.

So 4000 total yards, 25+ touchdowns and less than a pick per game. What a loser. Bust. Dumpster fire.

Yup. This guy's the #1 overall pick and he's not any better than a 2013 3rd round pick by the name of Mike Glennon thru 8 games. 200 more yards, worse completion %, more INTs and less TDs. Glennon played against 3 division champions thru 8 games that year and a 4th 10 win team (SEA, PHI, CAR & ARI). This guy has played all weak teams except CAR and Glennon fared better against them. Bottom line, he's playing as well as Mike Glennon. No better.

On the flopping, he flops around like a fish out of water anytime someone hits him. Of course, that is a good idea if you do it on occasion. You can get a 15 yard penalty called on the D. When you do it every time, the ref's ignore it.

Oh, you got yourself a 3rd round talent with the #1 overall pick. Bravo!

When you look at other prolific QBs who started very early in their careers and ended up putting up historic numbers, Winston compared pretty favorably. Look at Manning, Favre, Brady, and Elway 9 starts in and you see the following:

Winston has more passing yds and easily a much better ypa than all of them. Only Favre and Brady had better comp. % and more TDs than INTs - and Winston has as many passing TDs as Favre did with only 1 more INT. Winston has more total TDs than any of them.

Now I'm not going to make an assertion that Winston will join their elite company after his career - I'm smart enough to know it is way too early to make any inference like that. But it does give a rational person some perspective when jumping to conclusions about young QBs. Imagine what lod would have been saying about each of them at this point in their career.

All the more reason to simply ignore him.

That is a victory in itself. So far to date we have 'It's Lovie's fault and the D's fault' and last week it was that 'Mike Evans is the worst' and now it's 'all the receivers are awful'. I predicted this. You will also blame the O-line eventually, the running game as well. Bottom line is he is a ham & egger at best. Took 5 years to make people understand that David Carr sucked as they used the same technique of blame that you use. It does look like this guy will be around for a while....to bad for Tampa.

No idea if Glennon is NFL starting material, I have doubts myself, but he has never been given a fair chance. He put up a 19-9 TD-INT ratio and was benched in favor of a journeyman hack. Talk about no receivers. All he had was Vincent Jackson.

Winston is a averaging a full yard per attempt more than Byron did. That's really significant even if you wish to pretend it's not.

Winston is also averaging 50 yards more per game.

Byron also had 16 total touchdowns for the year. Jameis already has 14.

Byron had a qb rating of 73 and Jameis is at 80.

Byron also had a int % of 3.8 to 3.2 for Jameis. Also Jameis gets 13.2 yards per catch to 11.8 for Byron.

So no they're not like each other at all. Would you like to nominate another talk, black qb for me to compare? Or we good for now?

I've never seen so many gutless 5 yard check downs on 3rd and 12 as I did when Mike Glennon was starting for the Bucs.

Watch the games. Jameis continuously attacks the defense. He's throwing 15 yard strikes on 3rd and 12. He's finding open receivers when it matters. When the game is on the line. And now he has a game winning comeback drive under his belt too.

Since someone thinks the numbers are important, there are the ones that matter.

Eventually they'll blame Glennon's O-line and his running game. It'll take years until they figure out that Glennon's "a guy" and Winston's becoming a good QB, much to Tampa's good fortune.
