QB Jimmy Garoppolo, LAR (1 Viewer)

Mixed bag for Jimmy G. Threw some ducks up there tonight and should have been picked off a few times, missing throws. Also had receivers dropping stuff and missing his top guys.
He gets a softball this week though in ARZ. Nice little "get right" scrimmage for Jimmy G in week 11 before he has to face NFL defenses again.

Just rewatched the Seahawks game.

I'd be worried if I were the 49ers.  He is not a QB I would want if I needed yards

He looked nervous and panicky, but when you're w/o your top 2 receivers and the youngbucks are dropping passes like its goin' outta style, and your supposed all-pro tackle's getting dominated it's hard to look good.

You have the best defense in football, so whatever problems there are on offense you don’t make Rex Grossman throws off your back foot repeatedly.

That killface guy is the biggest 49er hater this side of drummer, pay no attention to him.

Jimmy Garoppolo vs Seattle

When throwing in 2.5 seconds or less: 95.3 passer rating
When throwing in more than 2.5 seconds: 26.2 passer rating

yards per attempt:

With E. Sanders: 8.5 YPA, 7 for 11, 1 TD, 0 INTs
Without E. Sanders: 4.4 YPA, 13 for 35, 0 TDs and 1 INT

Pretty obvious that once he was without any reliable weapons other than Deebo, his numbers took a nose dive. He will be fine.

you got me...my thoughts are invalid for all of time.  I guess my 40 years of loving the 49ers means nothing compared to your knowledge and total devotion

This is a fantasy football board.  Hang out at the webzone if all you want to do is talk about how great everyone is.

Staley was getting blown up by Clowney repeatedly. Every QB in the league starts playing erratically when they start hearing the footsteps even if they're not there... No excuse for him fumbling and sailing passes early in the game, but both of the starting tackles looked like ####.

With no Kittle or Sanders, it may be more of the same. Niners only beat Cardinals by 3 with those guys.

I know he's coming off the ACL injury and missed a lot of development time, but he had a lot of Road Goff to him in the 2nd half of that game. He was trying to throw INTs most of the 4th quarter and OT and Seattle kept dropping most of them. To that extent very surprised the coaching staff didn't dial up more screens/passes to Coleman and Mostert.

This is what I saw too....

He took a beating no doubt but he looked pretty terrible early on.  some very wild throws that were just flat out terrible.

and by the 4th quarter (as someone else said) he was literally begging seattle to just take the ball

Jimmy Garoppolo completed 34-of-45 passes for 424 yards, four touchdowns, and two interceptions in the 49ers' 36-26, Week 11 win over the Cardinals.

Garoppolo didn't play as well as the numbers would suggest, as his two interceptions were horrendous throws in the red zone, the first tossed literally right to LB Jordan Hicks and the second a poor ball behind the tight end that went off his fingertips. On Garoppolo's longest pass play, Richie James did all the work for 57 yards. Garoppolo's scores went to Kendrick Bourne, Jeff Wilson, and two to Ross Dwelley. The 9-1 Niners get a big test from the Packers in Week 12.

Am i wrong to drop Jimmy G in favor of other streaming candidates like danny jones, darnold and tannehill for ROS? i have to stream QB rest of the year and based on schedule I see Jimmy regressing back to his 10-15 pt a week that he has been for nearly all other non ARZ opponents... unless you guys see something that makes you think he is going to keep passing for 250+ a game with multiple scores.

Jimmy Garoppolo completed 14-of-20 passes for 253 yards and two touchdowns in the 49ers' Week 12 win over the Packers.

Garoppolo picked apart the Packers secondary, throwing his touchdowns on deep shots to Deebo Samuel and George Kittle. He went 6-for-6 with a perfect passer rating on play action, something Green Bay struggled with throughout the game. Garoppolo has been trending up, but if you take away two games against the Cardinals, he drops to a 12:8 TD/INT ratio over his 11 starts. Garoppolo will a high-end QB2 for a tough matchup with the Ravens in Week 13.

No meathead picks last night.  Nice to see

Jimmy has been really good this year other than the picks, many of which have been brutally bad decisions on his part. He’s an aggressive QB by nature, but sometimes, especially with that defense, the safe play is the right play. Liked what I saw last night. When the play wasn’t there, he either threw it away or took the sack. No picks and no near picks. Played to the game script.  Very nice.

Jimmy Garoppolo completed 15-of-21 passes for 165 yards and a touchdown in the 49ers' 20-17, Week 13 loss to the Ravens.

It was a low-wattage day from Garoppolo in a rain-drenched road affair. Deebo Samuel and clueless Ravens CB Marcus Peters did the heavy lifting on Garoppolo's 33-yard, fourth down score in the first quarter. Garoppolo has now completed 15-or-fewer passes in back-to-back games, with the other being a blowout victory to today's narrow loss. The 49ers are a run-first team, something frenetic recent Garoppolo play has helped reinforce. He can make big plays but is also capable of going off the rails. The Saints are a concerning Week 14 matchup but will provide shootout potential.

Jimmy Garoppolo completed 26-of-35 passes for 349 yards, four touchdowns, and one interception in the 49ers' 48-46, Week 14 win over the Saints.

This was the game of the year to date. Both teams traded back-and-forth blows with the Niners big-playing the Saints to death. San Francisco had handfuls of 20-plus yards plays as Garoppolo averaged a crisp 10 yards per attempt. His first and fourth touchdowns were red-zone hookups with Kendrick Bourne, the second a 75-yard lob to Emmanuel Sanders who fell down and got back up to run it into the end zone, and Garoppolo's third score came from five yards out to George Kittle. Garoppolo got the ball back with 53 seconds left and down 46-45. He hit Kittle on 4th-and-2 for 39 yards with Kittle channeling his inner beast mode on the catch-and-run to set up the game-winning field goal as time expired. This was Garoppolo's signature win to this point in his career. The 11-2 Niners host the Falcons in Week 15.

Dec 8, 2019, 4:32 PM ET

Jimmy Garoppolo completed 22-of-34 passes for 200 yards and one touchdown in the 49ers' Week 15 loss to the Falcons.

This was a trainwreck performance from everyone but George Kittle who accounted for 67% of Jimmy G's yards. Garoppolo has been extremely hot and cold this season. He had four touchdowns in each of the three games against Arizona and New Orleans but is averaging 1.27 scores in his 11 other games. For the 49ers to win in the playoffs, Garoppolo needs to play more consistent football, especially with the Niners expected to play on the road. Jimmy G will be a forgettable QB2 against the Rams in Week 16.

Jimmy Garoppolo completed 16-of-27 passes for 248 yards, one touchdown, and two interceptions in the 49ers' Week 16 win over the Rams.

Garoppolo was bad for most of the game. He was sacked six times and his two interceptions were costly. The first one was picked up Jalen Ramsey while in zone coverage, and the second was deflected into the air by Ramsey in tight coverage that wound up in Darious Williams' hands. But as we've seen at times this season, Garoppolo made big plays to erase some of the nonsense. In the fourth quarter, Jimmy G hit George Kittle for a touchdown and then found Emmanuel Sanders deep downfield to set up the easy game-winning touchdown. He'll need to play a better game for the Niners to win in the playoffs, but it got the job done tonight. Jimmy G will bring a 12-3 record into Seattle to close out the regular season next Sunday. He's a QB2 in fantasy circles.

Jimmy Garoppolo completed 11-of-19 passes for 131 yards, one touchdown and an interception in the 49ers' 27-10, Divisional Round win over the Vikings.

Garoppolo, frankly, wasn't very good, but he didn't need to be with the 49ers' defensive front erasing Kirk Cousins and the Vikings from the face of the earth. The 49ers' ground game dominated. Garoppolo's pick came when Eric Kendricks didn't bite on a play fake. It's not sophisticated analysis, but Garoppolo is going to have to be twice as good if the 49ers are to beat the Packers or Seahawks to advance to Super Bowl LIV. He remains the Niners' biggest liability.

I got roasted in the niners thread for suggesting that Garoppolo wasn't very good this season.  He doesn't really have to be with that defense though......buuuuut, A A Ron is coming to town

i'm a 49ers fan and they are winning despite garoppolo in my opinion.

Haters keep hating. Hes a top 10 QB and will only get better.
I bet Belichick sure wishes he had him about right now.  Kraft is an idiot for running him out of town, and for what, a freaking 2nd round pick.

Jimmy Garoppolo completed 20-of-31 passes for 219 yards, one touchdown and two interceptions in the 49ers' 31-20, Super Bowl LIV loss to the Chiefs.

The 49ers treated Garoppolo like an actual quarterback this evening, but coach Kyle Shanahan still called too conservative of a game as the 49ers let a 10-point second half lead slip away. For the season, Garoppolo got healthy just in time for the 49ers to unleash one of the most dominant rushing attacks of the decade. He did elevate for a number of huge performances, most notably his 349-yard outburst in the 49ers’ epic win over the Saints. He also delivered a pair of four-score efforts against the Cardinals. Garoppolo’s game-manager tendencies were nevertheless confirmed in the postseason, where he comically attempted just 27 passes across the Divisional and Conference Championship rounds. Garoppolo’s primary weakness is a freneticism in the face of heavy pressure, though it is less pronounced than it is in division mate Jared Goff. Signed for three more seasons, Garoppolo figures to take a step forward in 2020 as he becomes further removed from his 2018 ACL injury.

he is what most think he is...an average qb that needs a great d and the bounces and calls to all go his way.

It's not a good look when your GM, star TE, and coach look at you like "WTF are you doing?" at different points in the game. That's not even counting Sanders throwing a fit in the end zone after Jimmy G overthrew him on a TD by 3-4 yards. I don't know what happened to him, but pre-ACL tear the guy looked like a stud. Suddenly he turned into discount Jared Goff and the O is trying to have him do as little as possible.

Worst post ever.

Stop watching football now.

Garoppolo 20/31 64.5%, 219, 7.06 ypa, 1 TD, 2 INT

Mahomes (MVP) 26/42 61.9%, 286, 6.81 ypa 2 TD, 2 INT

ok

Oh I'm not saying Mahomes played great at all (he wasn't accurate on a number of his throws and left a TD on the field), that isn't what this convo is about. When it was time for Jimmy G to make a play that wasn't a 5-10 yard pass in the 4th quarter, a lot of times he was incomplete or threw a near INT. His coach left him out to dry somewhat, asking him to pass in more vanilla formation not utilizing the spread misdirection O the Niners tend to run. Will Jimmy G improve on that? You hope so, he didn't look this way before his injury.

He played great this season considering he was coming off an ACL. The defense and the defense alone blew it when the game was on the line. If they don't give up that huge 3rd and 15 conversion, it's game over.

SF will be even better next year when they have Ronald Blair, DJ Jones, Shon Coleman, Jalen Hurd, Trent and Julian Taylor, Kentavius Street, and Weston Richburg back.

This isn't acceptable.
Passions do run high right after a Super Bowl loss.  Not to excuse anything.  Just to remind folks that the others here are among the reasons we visit.  Lets all try to help those others get through the initial difficult moments.  Yeah, busting on each other is a guy thing, but there is a time for that and a time to maybe show a bit of restraint.

Does this include changing your team's thread title 5 times in 2 hours? Wingnut:

1) Implied it was the defense's fault KC won

2) called Mahomes a "golden Muppet" and that the NFL is happy

3) 2nd place sucks

4) (think he went back to the Golden Muppet insult)

5) current "NFC Champs blew it in the Super Bowl against the NFLs new golden child. We will be back and better next year. Haters can pound sand".

Every single comment is trying to deflect from Jimmy Garoppolo's performance in this game and throughout the playoffs. Not to mention the "edited" version of the comments he's posting in every Niner-related thread. He's getting a break because of Superbowl ache but it's getting ridiculous now. It's one thing if people are trolling or saying some completely out there comment; you can't crap on a completely neutral take and say a dude "never watched football before", especially with the way he's shat on other QBs. I would advise him to bring some numbers and metrics to the table if he's going to come at posters like that... I am the last person to play with like that.

Honestly, this shouldn't even be a conversation. He didn't lose the game tonight and he played great all season.

My main takeaway from The Ringer article is the fourth-and-two call to kick the field goal. I assumed that was the right call. My brother disagreed.

Bro knows football.
