QB Jordan Love, GB (1 Viewer)

All of you must have seen the article referenced by Joe in his daily update; you know... the latest "Aaron Rogers is gona retire" piece. Except this time it might be legitimate. So anyone making a move to secure Jordan Love? I have his value in the QB20-24 area with guys like Darnold and Carr.

Traded him away for a 2nd rounder (start one QB) to the Rodgers owner.

Jordan Love's MRI on his injured shoulder showed no structural damage.

Love had to leave Green Bay's preseason opener early with the injury. He may not be ready in time for the second preseason contest, but Love should be fine to be Aaron Rodgers' backup when the games count. The problem is he badly needs these exhibition reps.

I just don't believe Love has the it factor.  Guys like Herbert and Wilson...you see them and right away you know.

Love looks like a career backup every time I watch him play...and I think the Packers know it.

How many times have you seen him play?  Saturday night was his first live action since the 2019 Frisco Bowl against Kent State. I think if the Packers believed he's not NFL starting QB quality, they'd be acting differently than they are.

Dude's going to be starting by week 7. The Packers didn't trade their 4th round pick to move up for Love to sit the bench for 2 seasons.

I believe the Packers definitely would have traded Rodgers if Love had any promise.   Reading between the lines I think they are nervous about Love and my hot take is that Love may not even win the starting job in 2022.

You might be right of course, but just noting Saturday night was the first time he's ever put on a Packers game jersey and faced a defense that was allowed to hit him. He had no 2020 preseason and was inactive for every single game last season.  They released Boyle and Bortles, and made Love the undisputed #2 this season. I don't think this makes sense if your theory - that they would have traded Rodgers and made Love the starter this season if they thought he had promise - is correct.  It seems to me the plan all along was to let him sit for two seasons and everything they've said and done has been consistent with that.

FMIA: ‘Some Things Are Better Left Unsaid’ — Aaron Rodgers Takes Zen Approach At Packers Training Camp

Excerpt:

• Jordan Love, the pivot-point first-round pick of all the discontent, hasn’t wowed the team. Good days, shaky days. But I’d be cautious about saying the 26th pick in the 2020 draft is in trouble. Rodgers, the 24th pick in 2005, had more than his share of lousy moments in years one and two behind Brett Favre. Love’s decision-making must improve. But some quarterbacks take more nurturing than others. One of the biggest problems in football today is impatience with young quarterbacks, and I got the sense the Packers think Love’s not ready for prime time yet.

I thought Love looked good. Faced the starting defenses of Houston and Buffalo and held his own. Green Bay sat 30+ starters in their pre-season games so Love was behind the 8-ball with second string O-line and WRs. I would have liked to see him get a series or two with the starters.

Definitely would have liked to have seen him with the starting Line and receivers.

Looked good but made 2 huge mistakes.  One not eating it and taking the sack or throwing it away (where he was intercepted) and the other nearly intercepted down near the goalline on a similar play where he was facing some pressure.  Otherwise he made some nice plays  Seemed more decisive.

This will be his audition. If he plays well then he goes into next season as starter. If he falls flat on his face, packers know they need to find their next qb through draft or free agency.

KC defense is awful. I'm thinking of grabbing him as a Rodgers owner. Not many other good names available.

Yea for me Cousins I just dropped after using him over Rodgers last week. That didn't work. So of course Cousins will probably get 300 and 3 TDs against Baltimore.
That's tough.  I'm a Ravens fan, but we've seen how they were tore up recently.  I'd lean Cousin's.

Statistically, Love did not post significant rushing stats in college.  Is there any potential for that area?  I really know nothing about this guy.

My whole team either has covid, is denying they have covid, or is on a bye. Rolling with lots of Love this week.

Really hoping Love succeeds out there tomorrow. He was definitely overdrafted by GB and ripped everywhere but he's kept his head down and worked hard in practice for a year. He doesn't have to be 1st year Mahomes out there, just game manage and let his weapons do the work.

Love was a terrible pick at that spot for the win now Packers. And the fact that reports indicate he can’t hit the broad side of a barn are concerning.

Hope he shows he can be the starter in 2022 but I am not holding my breath.

I was going to post this in the Rodgers thread but that is so over ridden with wrong forum crap I will post it here instead. This game will be a good forecast of Love's future as much as any. If he shows he can win as an NFL starter it will make it easier for GB to move Rodgers, even if it is at a now discounted price.

Jordan Love completed 19-of-34 passes for 190 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in Green Bay's Week 9 loss to Kansas City.

Love's one and only highlight in his pro debut came on a fourth quarter touchdown throw to Allen Lazard, who was covered by Daniel Sorensen, one of the NFL's worst coverage safeties and the butt of endless Twitter jokes. Clearly discombobulated to start the game, Love settled in a bit in the second half but threw fall away prayers on many of his throws -- completions and incompletions -- even when not facing any pressure. Love was as bad as anyone could have imagined. The Packers can be certain they do not have Aaron Rodgers' heir apparent on the roster. Hopefully Rodgers' Joe Rogan-prescribed COVID-19 cures kick in soon enough for Rodgers to suit up against Seattle in Week 10.
