so youre saying at some point were going to get a "you like that!?" moment from LamarThese teams that don’t go all-in when they have the chance, instead falling into the Franchise Tag trap with a QB, really set themselves up to lose even more money long term. If you fall into the Franchise Tag dance with a guy like Lamar, the salary then becomes based on the FT (just like it did with Kirk). If he can make nearly $90-100 million just on two years of franchise tags if he bets on his own health, and he has the balls to do it, now that contract has to be based on that as a minimum. That’s how Cousins keeps getting paid out the ***, because he bet on himself and worked into the position of having the leverage to use the base Franchise Tag (fully guaranteed) as his base salary.
Too late for the Ravens to negotiate? It's the Jets... but 3 TD passes.
Lolz. 17/30 for 213 yards and only 17 on the ground against a terrible team didn't move the needle in his favor. It's very early (very) and a highly suspect opponent but if Lamar returns to his high efficiency ways, the Ravens are going to regret not offering more guaranteed money.
Lamar Jackson completed 17-of-30 pass attempts for 230 yards and three touchdowns, also gaining 17 rushing yards on six carries in the Ravens 24-9 Week 1 win against the Jets.
Jackson was far from sharp against a poor New York secondary that continually allowed Baltimore wideouts to get behind them. Two long touchdowns painted over an otherwise middling outing for Jackson [ ]. The Ravens offense appeared stale and predictable for much of this game; it could be an issue against stiffer competition. Perhaps Jackson would have recorded more rushing production if the game had been competitive in the second half. He'll be a high-end QB1 in Week 2 against Miami.

But we've heard in this thread that the Ravens shouldn't pay him what he is asking, lol.Update: still the most dangerous weapon in the league
I think the Ravens are quite ready to pay him. What team has won the battle of waiting and waiting to sign a QB? The player always gets paid in the end.
Ravens coach John Harbaugh said Lamar Jackson is dealing with soreness but will play in Week 3 against the Patriots.
Jackson was spotted with a sleeve on his right (throwing) arm at practice. He was not seen throwing passes during the media portion of the day, but Harbaugh chalked it up to the general wear and tear of the season. Jackson was stellar in Week 2, throwing for 318 yards and three scores while also rushing for 119 yards and a touchdown. There should be no hesitation on starting Jackson as a top-five fantasy option this week.

Lamar Jackson completed 18-of-29 passes for 218 yards, four touchdowns and one interception in the Ravens' 37-26 win over the Patriots, adding 11 rushes for 107 yards and a touchdown.
Jackson continued his hot start to the season with another big performance against the Patriots. Jackson's first touchdown pass on the day came on a six-yard strike to Mark Andrews, who later connected with Jackson for a 16-yard score in the second quarter. That was just the beginning for Jackson, who would throw two more scores to Josh Oliver and Devin Duvernay in the third quarter, in what was a back-and-forth game. Late in the fourth quarter, Jackson would put the team on his back to secure the win. On Baltimore's final scoring drive, Jackson found Rashod Bateman for a 35-yard gain and ripped off a 20-yard rushing before scoring a nine-yard touchdown to put the game out of reach. Still in search of a new contract, Jackson's new deal with the Ravens will break the bank if this type of play continues throughout the season. The 2019 NFL MVP has throw for 749 yards, 10 touchdowns and two interceptions while adding another 26-143-2 on the ground. The Ravens play host to the Bills in Week 4

If I were an NFL GM I would clear cap space for him. If I were the Bears, I'd tell Justin Fields "Nice knowing yah" and break the bank for Lamar. He is easily the most valuable player in the NFL. He single-handedly wins games, in a way that no one else can claim. The only thing missing from his resume is a Super Bowl. To be honest I'm a little concerned about that. That, I believe,, is Harbaugh's challenge. Unleash him in the playoffs. Tell him that he has complete freedom to act naturally, to trust his instincts and to hell with the rest. Create play calls that force him to run the ball. Fire his *** up and make him believe that he is the baddest football player on the planet, because he is.who can afford him, the Bears and who else?
For sure if he went to free agency, multiple teams would make room if he signed there. But as far as already having room, I think its just the Bears. If I were an NFL GM I would clear cap space for him. Wait... so you won 6K today on that?By the way, I put my money where my mouth is. Today I used a $20 free bet same-game parlay and created a 6 legged parlay on the Ravens, mostly involving Lamar. It was +30,000. And I hit it when Lamar scored that rushing touchdown with 3 minutes left. Just about **** my pants.![]()
Yes, you get hit in a much more vulnerable position by much larger men while in the pocket.FWIW, Jackson's ankle injury last year happened when he was in the pocket. In my feeble memory, there are way more instances of QBs losing time from injuries when they are standing still than when they get out and run.
The opportunities dont come along every day. When there is one, you have to pounce.Trolling Lamar Jackson is a weird shtick
So we can only post when he beats Joe Flacco and the Jets?Trolling Lamar Jackson is a weird shtick
But that’s not what you posted in your previous post. You posted nothing of content after a bad game. Troll job.So we can only post when he beats Joe Flacco and the Jets?Trolling Lamar Jackson is a weird shtick
No one is trolling Lamar- he's a phenomenal athlete and player. The question has always been, does it make sense for the Ravens to give him a record breaking guaranteed contract? Heck no, IMO.

Interesting you brought up the Jets game now since that’s the previous game you posted after to say you weren’t impressed with his play. Crickets from you after his 2 huge games. The guy’s going to be in the MVP discussion (again) yet you only have negative things to say about him. Weird

The Ravens offered him a top dollar contract on par with Allen, Stafford, Wilson, Rodgers etc. The impasse has always been about how much of the contract is fully guaranteed. There's a very real question whether paying him top dollar helps or hurts their chances, which is precisely what the impasse is all about.
I love me some LJ but you can't give him a huge, guaranteed contract. He still seems to have trouble with all-out pressure for one.The Ravens offered him a top dollar contract on par with Allen, Stafford, Wilson, Rodgers etc. The impasse has always been about how much of the contract is fully guaranteed. There's a very real question whether paying him top dollar helps or hurts their chances, which is precisely what the impasse is all about.

I didn't post after those games because they didn't change anything about my viewpoint. He's beaten 2 bad teams and lost to 2 good teams so far this year and has 1 career win in the postseason. Until/unless that changes, it's silly to talk about him getting "paid"- he isn't going to get paid because he beat the Jets or the Pats.
Again, great player, and in a vacuum almost every team would take him. The problem is the NFL doesn't operate in a vacuum, the salary cap plays a huge part. The Ravens don't care about his fantasy points, highlight reel plays, or how many bobble heads he sells, they care about championships. There's a very real question whether paying him top dollar helps or hurts their chances, which is precisely what the impasse is all about. Until/unless he proves otherwise, I'm on the Ravens side of not giving him a blank check. It has to be reasonable otherwise it'll hurt their chances IMO.![]()
He came into this week as the league’s top rated passer against the blitz. Not sure how much of the issues this week were blitz related. Josh Allen struggled in the conditions as well. I recall Lamar was good against the blitz in 2019. Not sure about 2020. He def struggled for a stretch against it in 2021.I love me some LJ but you can't give him a huge, guaranteed contract. Not my decision. Just pointing out the Ravens already offered him a top of the market contract.I love me some LJ but you can't give him a huge, guaranteed contract. I watch every Ravens game. He definitely gets happy feet and throws up questionable passes when there's all out pressure. I mean he's fantastic 90% of the time, but the 10% he struggles loses games when the D struggles the way they have. But I do think he has improved and will improve, just you can't give him a fully guaranteed contract. Not my decision. Although I personally think these knocks against him are nonsense.
The pick of course didn't help yesterday, but the defense is the reason they lost to Miami and Buffalo. He got them up by 21 and 17I watch every Ravens game. Certainly true against Miami but yesterday it was the offense’s fault. The defense gifted the Ravens 7 points by taking a pick inside the 5 5 minutes into the game. I think another fg came off a fumble recovery. The offense was awful. The conditions didn’t help anyone offensively. Bateman had 2-3 big drops. The refs had 2 garbage calls that cost the offense points. The 2 picks were on a tipped ball at the LOS and a 4th down throw that had to be put up (sort of). Not really Lamar’s fault. The pick of course didn't help yesterday, but the defense is the reason they lost to Miami and Buffalo. He got them up by 21 and 17I watch every Ravens game.
