QB Leftwich Likely To Try To Play?

John Czarnecki, FOXSports.com - [Full Article]

John Czarnecki of FOXSports.com is reporting QB Byron Leftwich (ankle) will try to play, but may not last the whole game?

That settles it - I'm going with Leinart over Leftwich. For those of you with Garrard, I definitely wouldn't start him, but he may get some PT.

at this point, i think that it would be the smarter move for the jags to rest lefty for this game since it is against one of the worst defenses in the league with the texans. The jags should be in the playoff hunt and starting lefty with a sore ankle what should be a sure win even with garrard at QB just smells like disaster for lefty..

its still a game time decision, so we'll see..

That doesn't help much. DOn't these clowns realize that thousands of FF games are hinging on this?I will be watching this one closely until game time, ready to drop Frye to the abyss and snatch Gil Gerard to start since the weather for the Cle/Den game will suck. There is a big upside and a big downside to having most of your byes on the same week. Down being I have no one to spare to take a flyer on DG prior to an official announsement.

I think it's important to note the question mark in the statement above. Sounds more like the writer speculating than fact. Here is how it is worded in the article:

There is a good chance Byron Leftwich (ankle) will try to play, but how long can he last?

I just read that rotoworld is reporting that Garrard is warming up but Leftwich is not out on the field. For what it's worth, I thought I would pass this along to see if anyone can verify. Not saying Leftwich is out, but doesn't look good.

OK, just saw that he is out so report confirmed.

Does this help receivers like Wilford today or hurt them?

Misheard the way he said it........ Not official yet....

I'm thinking Ernest Wilford goes off today with Garrard at QB...Leftwich only has eyes for Williams this year, maybe a change of QB will produce more of an even distribution of targets.

just said it on the tip drill on espn countdown....
They also said it wasn't official yet, although it doesn't look good. However, I don't trust anything Del Rio says either. We'll keep digging, hopefully we'll know BEFORE game time.

This is one of those that I have been trying to play real close attention to. Garrard has legs and can make things happen on the move as well as pass. Delhomme and Rivers to decide betweek Garrard/Lefty situation.

(pregame) -- The Jaguars' inactives do not include Leftwich: The inactives include Quinn Gray (third QB), which would indicate Leftwich will be active. The other inactives are: Matt Jones, Terry Cousin, Ahmad Carroll, Alvin Pearman, Stockar McDougle, Marcellus Wiley and Marcus Stroud.

What can we expect out of Garrard if he goes? I mean he's not a bad plug in if you need a QB, right?

Plenty of weapons there. 2 good WRs, 2 good TEs, 2 good RBs, a chance to have a QB rushing TD?

vs HOU it is not unrealistic to hope for 200/2 and 20/1 on the ground from Garrard.

IMO it's probably the same as leftwich. less passing yards but more rushing yards.#8ish QB maybe? He couldn't have a better matchup this week.

Lefty has a few rushing TDs this year. Garrard is a much better runner than lefty... All signs point to yes.

(pregame) -- At this time, the Jaguars are announcing no change in their starting lineup, which includes Leftwich at quarterback.

jags ingame

I'm all over this thread. Definitely gonna start Gerrard over Vick if he gets the nod.

(pregame) -- Leftwich just trotted onto the field. He's testing his left foot; moving laterally along the 30-yard line and in full pads.

(pregame) -- I hope to have some information on Leftwich soon. Hang in there.

Come on lefty! I need you man....

Leftwich is ACTIVE. So I guess he will give it a shot

Jags Inactive list

QB Quinn Gray (third QB)

CB Terry Cousin

CB Ahmad Carroll

RB Alvin Pearman

DL Marcellus Wiley

WR Matt Jones

T Stockar McDougle

DT Marcus Stroud

Well if they start him and he doesn't finish then he and the back-up are both bad plays. It may be best to grab a so-so QB off waivers that you know will be playing.

Damn...Houston is a juicy matchup......

With injuries and byes, I've had to rely on JP Losman last week and planned on riding him again today. It would be a godsend to be able to plug Garrard in for JP before gametime.

Come on Jack, let Byron have a week to heal up....

This is a nightmare.

I think if he plays he plays the whole game. I think whoever plays is going to score 30 or more points.

Uggg!! Who the hell do I start then? Gotta pick either Lefty or Garrard!

(Sorry for the WDIS... frustrated w/ this situation)

From CBS Sportsline

Leftwich expected to start Updated 10/22/06

Leftwich, Byron QB JAC

News: According to sources close to CBS SportsLine.com, Jaguars QB Byron Leftwich is dressed for Sunday's game against the Texans and there is a "95 percent" chance he will start. The media was told at a PR meeting that as of now Leftwich is starting and he is currently on the field warming up.

Unfortunately for me, Leftwich is my bye week filler for Bulger.

And my dumb league utilizes a bidding point system for waivers so I am not allowed to pick up anyone after Thursday.

Stupid rules imo.

So I'm just hoping Lefty gives me a good half...at least.

im in the exact same situation in one league. stuck relying on losman and garrard this week would be beautifulother league, lefty was my qb with bulger on bye, added leinart, lefty will ride the pine..

(pregame) -- Leftwich told me on Saturday that his left foot loosens up with time and activity. He's throwing the ball now and he's struggling to land on his left foot when he pushes off, but he appears to be improving with activity.
