QB Leftwich To Try To Play? (Limited?) (1 Viewer)

This is fun! My lineup today -> Leftwich starting - Leftwich to the bench - Leftwich starting. :loco:

What are you guys gut feeling on if he does start (Lefty) that he plays the entire game? I think it is a certainty. Just a matter of if he starts.

Why would Del Rio risk this though?

CBS Sports analyst Solomon Wilcots, reporting live from Houston, just advised viewer that Byron Leftwich will start today's game against the Texans.

But much like earlier reports, Wilcots questioned whether Leftwich will be able to make it through the full game. David Garrard is waiting in the wings should Leftwich struggle.

He must be reading this site. :D

According to CBS, Jaguars QB Byron Leftwich will start today's game against Houston. Leftwich has an injured left ankle, but he is on the field and will be under center when the game begins.

I wonder if there is any interest in this topic.......

This is neat. I only need the guy for Bulger's bye! I have an opoortunity to pick up Harrington versus Green Bay.... would you do it? I think Lefty is a big risk this week. Could tweak it on the first play!

I'm in the same Bulger Bye Week boat. I guess I pick up Harrington and drop Garrard now. Bummer.

This is a great thread, by the way. Thanks for the info guys. Behold the power of FBGs!

Too bad it didn't turn out for me this week.

I'm struggling with this decision as well. Either way, I'm sure I'll make the wrong call. I'll keep you posted.

no chance. if they're up by 21 after the 3rd why would you keep leftwich in there?there's also a chance leftwich reinjures it and has to go to the bench.think like del rio would, not a FF owner.

I also think there's a good chance that Lefty is just in there to hand the ball off to the RB's and throw on 3rd and long as Houston is not what I would call stout against the run. Jax can win with their running game and defense in this one.

Yeah.....I think I'm going to make the wrong decision as well. I can either go with lefty or pickup Harrington or B.Johnson. I wonder if he will finish the whole game....it's not like the Texans will apply any pressure, lol.

I've gone ahead and sat Gerrard for Plummer and am playing Leftwich in a different 2 QB league.

Please just gets some positive fantasy points before you tweak your ankle Lefty.

if one were to think like del rio "should'' would be to rest lefty against one of the worst teams in the league. A game in which garrard should easily be able to manage. Keep lefty active, if the defense doesn't dominate or garrard sucks it up, plug lefty in, neither of the latter seems probable with the problems the texans are having though.

Going w/ Gradkowski @ home playing 4 qtrs - where he'll HAVE to throw to keep up w/ Dnabb.

:praysforshootout:

Now Lefty will throw 3 tds... ;)

I just think JAX will run all day and Lefty will *rest* in the 2nd half w/ a comfortable lead.

I think the risk he doesn't play four quarters is too great if you have a viable alternative. As was said before, Jacksonville will try to win this one without Leftwich doing much if at all possible. If the Texans keep it close, that's a whole different story.

I'm gambling with Favre on the road in a league where INT do count. Ouch.

Locker room chat from Jags land...they wrapped up Leftwich ankle pretty good and gave him a shot of that Barry Bonds juice (works in baseball why not football). :banned:

On another note, anyone else think the injury could linger after this week, or do you figure he should be ok down the line since he is playing today?

Well, I picked up Harrington and am starting him over Lefty. All of you sticking with Lefty can breathe a big sigh of relief as Lefty will now go for 300/3.

Would you consider Gradonoski of TB a viable alternative?

i am starting him.

i already submitted my lineup with Leftwich.

if history has taught me anything it is, never change a submitted lineup.

my guess is he will throw two long TD's in the first quarter and I will be happy I kept him active.

No, but that is who I'm going with. You have to figure TB will do it through the air if at all. I'm in the Same Bulger bye boat, and I can't risk a low QB output.

(pregame) -- Leftwich is expected to start. He threw OK in pregame but it's obvious that he's favoring the left ankle. The Jaguars would like to run the ball and limit his importance. We'll see.

Jaguars InGame

its up in the air at this point. i think by starting lefty today, they are just leaving him open to injuring that ankle further. He's had ankle problems in the past and by not letting him heal it completely may leave them in a bind later in the season.. JMO

:wall: This is going to be a no win situation. Start Leftwich and he'll play the first series and be pulled. Start Garrard and Lefty will play until the 4th when Garrard comes in to hand the ball off. :wall:

Bulger on bye, needed Lefty for ONE week, sheesh o'cripes, just dropped him and drank the Harrington kool-aid for a crucial game in my league. Lefty will now throw for 250/2 AND I say he gets a goal line push in for a TD, gimpy freaking ankle and all ... Ain't FF great ? :banned:

Hmm, that sucks. I wanna drop Garrard and pick up Johnson or Harrington, but if he gets hurt further I know Garrard won't make it back to me next week (I have Bulger though). From the report it seems like they will try to let the defense and the running game win....

I went with Gradkowski at the last minute. figure the jags will run all day, although I could be wrong. who knows.

FWIW, strangely, the Jags have a history of struggling against the Texans.

I am sticking with Lefty. My other choice is Frye and while I see him having a good game, unlike what most people might think, Lefty has more potential.

Plus, I called Lefty and he told me he was good for at least a half with at least 1 TD.
