I’ve been holding him in SuperFlex for what I drafted him for. A guy throwing to Puca and Kupp.
Timing seems odd with the Rams right in the thick of the division.
Who is a team that could use Stafford and is on a solid playoff trajectory without much at QB?
Gotta believe the Vikings are happy with Darnold.
I would have said Miami weeks ago, but now seems Tua is coming back.
I would have said Pittsburgh but they seem like they have enough QBs.
Does Indy want to give up on Richardson like the rest of the fantasy world. Dont think they would, but it makes a lot of sense. A game behind Houston and severely limited at QB but then again, Flacco seems just fine.
Giants? Dont think there’s any rescuing their season, but Jones is not the answer. So maybe?
New Orleans? Carr ain’t it.
That’s all I got for even a smidge of interest. And I got to squint really hard to make any of those teams give up anything for an old quarterback with limited years left. So it’s win this year or nothing in my eyes.

If you want to believe the sources of some Underdog sports guy with 50K followers on Twitter, the Vikings and Rams are supposedly in talks for a QB switcheroo. Supposedly, Rams might even be interested in extending Darnold. Obviously, giant grain of salt on this. Not sure how I would feel about it, but it's plausible that a conversation like this could take place between McVay and KOC. It would fit Kwesi's M.O.

Complete BS IMO. If the Vikings wanted a pay a 36 year old QB around 40 million a season, they could have kept Cousins.

I imagine they did want to sign him but Atlanta ponied up the guarantees for a QB who just tore his Achilles.
Stafford would probably be two year rental and let McCarthy learn like Jordan Love did and then the team can move on. This does make sense and Stafford would probably take this team to a Super Bowl. The NFC is weakening by the day and the Vikings only have to worry about the Lions right now. Maybe Packers and Philly too.

I am not going to imagine the Vikings giving up anything for Stafford. I feel that this is totally dismissive of Sam Darnold play this year and the chemistry he has built with his team-mates. I going to bow out of this discussion at this point. Have fun.

No offense to anyone who creates rankings as it is nearly impossible to do, but they are often to appease the masses and rarely accurate. He had his weapons back but nobody really knew at what capacity. Vegas was trying to tell s this was going to be a high scoring affair but many missed some of beneficiaries in this game (Stafford, Puka). I did try buying low on Stafford prior to the game in dynasty but was unsuccessful. At least now you have another potential option going forward.

Last week was what I thought I was drafting him for in Superflex auction at a pretty cheap bid. Obviously the early injuries to the line and WRs derailed that.
But last week showed what he can do with a full slate of weapons.
He’s starting for me this week and I hope to see him continue to succeed. I will take 200 yards and a couple of tds with the way my auction team is built.
Two areas where I temper my expectations a little.
1) The Vikings secondary is bad. Real bad. Worst in the league bad. When they don’t get pressure it shows. So while he had a great game it was against a good matchup.
2) this chart was shared in the Braelon Allen thread. But it shows the Rams has having the 31st worst SOS for a QB for the rest of the year. So there will definitely be some tough sledding for Stafford and crew.

Week 11-16 is a gauntlet of pretty good defenses. Doesn’t mean he and his WRs can’t perform. But it’s data to look at.
He closed last season really strong starting to thee exact game he had Puka, Kupp and Kyren all healthy.
I cut him in some leagues last week on notion they were going to trade Kupp and I have regrets. Been doing a lot of shuffling with TLAW, Stafford and recently Winston.
I'm still not 100% sure they don't trade Kupp, very small chance if they lose this week but doubt they'd get enough to make it worth it for them, so yeah I think he's positioned to be a top 10 QB for the ROS.

Well, if the Giants have any sense, then Stafford will be a Ram then. Stafford is 37 years old, seemingly always banged up, and isn't the same guy he was when the Rams traded for him. I'd be loath to give the 34th pick, let alone the 3rd.
It'd be great for Malik Nabers short term fantasy value, but that's about it. Giants need to aim younger or cheaper.

This is debatable, Rams smart to start asking questions if that is what they want to do. Being twenty or so yards away from an NFC Championship makes me wonder why they would want to however.
This is the piece that makes no sense to me, if they're rebuilding or even a middle of a pack team then ok but not understanding why they'd want to trade him now.

Well like anything strike while the iron is hot. Stafford is getting old but his wife won`t let him retire so he will play until he can`t.
Do you trade him now while he still has value? Or wait a year and have his play fall off and another possible injury? If that happens, he will have zero value.
Just don`t see Giant giving up their #1 for Stafford at this point in his career, 4 years ago? Yes, but not now.

I'm not so sure I would put much credence to his decision based on that.

May not make sense to us but they shopped him 2 years ago and have been in year to year mode with him since that time. Refusing to commit financially to him with any contract they can get our from when the upcoming season is over.
They’ve had a similar playbook with Kupp the last two years. Trying to keep his contract on terms they can exit out.
Kupp has shown more decline and is easier to replace but way they’ve handled these two the past few years has been surprising to me.
But any report of the Giants even considering giving up 1.3 is some dumb stuff, slow news cycle attention mongering.

I know Stafford wants a new deal, but this is a big red flag IMO. The Rams are a contender and are the only team to even give the Eagles a game on their run to the title.
I don't think they give up on that if they don't think he is washed or is about to be.

Lions should trade Goff for Stafford/Two first round picks.
Stafford is a 37 year old QB, who wants a huge contract extension, who I would argue has been good (not great) since the Super Bowl season. The last 2 off seasons the Rams have completely reshaped their roster to the point where Stafford and RT Rob Havenstein are the only really important players over 28.
Sean McVay is on the short list for best HCs in the NFL, certainly play callers, and I think makes QBs (including Stafford) look better than they are. This is team suddenly set up for long term contention, and I can see why they wouldn't want to be committed to an older QB for big money who could fall off at any time. Makes a lot of sense to me to get younger (or cheaper) at the position, especially if they can add some more draft capital, like a late 1st or early 2nd.
I wouldn't be totally shocked if there was some Stafford/Kupp package deal offers out there. Giants, Steelers, Titans would all make some sense.
Darnold would make a lot of sense, and Rodgers could too (if he were to be a 2024 Russell Wilson contract) the name I'd keep an eye on would be Kirk Cousins (again model the 2024 Russ deal) who McVay coached in Washington. Wouldn't even totally blow my mind if they had a rookie in mind and just kept Jimmy G as a bridge guy.

This is what concerns them for committing to a big multi-year extension. This is why they floated him in trades in 2023 before his $57m guarantees locked in. He was not washed in 2023 nor is he now, they just don't want to be committed to him on large contract when it inevitably comes.
It's a little unusual path to take for sure. Typically we see contending teams more desperate with the QB position but I guess McVay don't scare like that and I don't think they have a succession plan either. Options, but not like a definitive plan.
I expect resolution on this situation at or soon after the combine.
Other then if the SF job was open I can't imagine a place he'd desire more and he might desire LA more. I have no idea how mutual the feeling would be, I've no doubt the Rams would have interest just not sure he'd be target 1A.
I will admit this is part of why I hope the Rams move on from Stafford, even it dinged Puka who I have some investment towards. Not specific to Rodgers but I've said here that I think Stafford leaving would set off a significant domino effect chain reaction in the QB market. So just for the fun of it, I've kind of been pulling for Stafford and the Rams to exit to set the reaction off. Make for an exciting off-season and anticipation for next year.
I would not be rooting for that if I had Puka, I mean maybe they end w/ Rodgers (which think would still be a downgrade) but if not have no idea what their plan would be.
To be clear I'm not rooting for Puka's sake. I'm rooting for in spite of it.
And way I look at things is like this. I have 11 known rosters right now. Own Puka on two of them. Losing Stafford might ding those teams a bit, but it would also ding 9 other teams I'm competing against in other leagues so not the end of the world. Plus while I think Stafford does matter I think the system is the key, and should Stafford leave I might view Puka as a nice value depending where he drops or cost to acquire.
