Could be worth the risk if a team is shaky at QB. Maye did enough as a rookie to rule out the possibility that he's a performance bust to make it easy to cash out on Milton and get a non-negligible improvement in draft position on a day 3 pick. A lot of other teams are in really shaky QB spots and having a potential out like Milton is a lot more valuable to them.Thing is, do teams want a vocal backup? Patriots just traded their backup QB for nothing because they didn’t want the headacheAt this point, good teams with their QB set have to start getting tempted just to have a potential good backup.
He's one pundit. Insiders reporting that his interviews were off the charts bad. Really, really bad. Like Snow White bad. If he doesn't have that, all he has is hype.I know everyone is aware, but he’s not only Mel’s QB1, but 5th overall rated player of this draft.
Its a combination of both I think. Shough and Gabriel aren't starters in this league either and they've been drafted. Obviously if teams thought he was going to be a star they'd have held their nose and drafted him by now. So I agree that the evaluation clearly didn't match the hype. I think it's short-sighted to say that the off the field concerns about attitude and family circus aren't a factor though.32 NFL GMs do not pass on a kid multiple times because they don't want to deal with his father or because they think the kid needs to be humbled. In a QB starved league, they are saying they don't think Shedeur is a starter in this league. Time will tell but each of these guys is picking for their jobs. Some of them won't be around in two years, and especially if someone now takes Shedeur in the 4th and he turns out to be a star.
Oh it's 100% a factor, but there are other guys in the league who come with the same or similar challenges. If teams thought Shedeur was good enough, they would have overlooked them by now.Its a combination of both I think. Shough and Gabriel aren't starters in this league either and they've been drafted. I kinda doubt they got together for a meeting to talk about not drafting this guy.I haven't read every post but has anyone thrown out the word "collusion" yet?
The league might want to be a little careful here.
Agree, and for what, spite? We have had actual murderers play in this league. If they think he can help their team win, they will take him.I kinda doubt they got together for a meeting to talk about not drafting this guy.I haven't read every post but has anyone thrown out the word "collusion" yet?

Right. And while I'd agree he'd be a headache, he isn't the kind of headache you collude over.Agree, and for what, spite? We have had actual murderers play in this league. Yeah, what's happening with this guy and everyone defending him vs NFL GMs? I'll ask again, what's the bull case that people saw with their own eyes that made anyone think he was better than a career backup and worth all the baggage? All i saw was an average player hyped by the media. He'll be a cancer to whatever team takes him with limited upside.Agree, and for what, spite? We have had actual murderers play in this league. Do you really think Mike Tomlin is worried about his job? The Steelers have no viable QB and decided to take a running back with their third round pick.Oh it's 100% a factor, but there are other guys in the league who come with the same or similar challenges. I dunno - the family circus that includes Deion is a really big one. Like perhaps "coach-in-waiting" big. Have we seen that level of fame/influence/prolific-with-the-media from the parent before? I could see coaches saying "no way" at any pick.
Because the league never colludes?I kinda doubt they got together for a meeting to talk about not drafting this guy.I haven't read every post but has anyone thrown out the word "collusion" yet?

You're probably right but this is absurd. They'll draft other kids with all sorts of attitude and off field issues but Shedeur is worse than usual? I'm suspect.
I'm not sure learning is a strong suit with him.Shedeur is going land on his feet. He might even luck out and end up in a great situation like backing up in KC or the Rams and learn
Anything can happen, but i think these teams are to smart to make an unforced error like that. No offense to the Browns, but even they know that's a bad idea.Shedeur is going land on his feet. He might even luck out and end up in a great situation like backing up in KC or the Rams and learn
Not a good look at all taking pot shots at NFL starters. It's never "I'm gonna work hard. Improve my deficiencies etc .."A spokeswoman from the Browns FO was asked about a prospect and she said one of the best traits of a player was how he'd fit and said the 'goal wasn't to simply collect talent, the goal was to build a team.'
Shedeur wasn't going to the Browns.
If the point is to get the opportunity of being drafted by an NFL team, then this isn't the way to show you're a good teammate.
Shedeur, Deion Sanders throw shade at Joe Flacco, Browns’ QB situation after NFL Draft snub
I have no issue with Browns passing on him, but if they gonna take Dillon freaking Gabriel, they shoulda drafted Shedeur and risked the circus.Anything can happen, but i think these teams are to smart to make an unforced error like that. No offense to the Browns, but even they know that's a bad idea.
I'll admit I think Gabriel over Sanders from a skill standpoint is a bad move, but they've been burnt enough with QBs with issues not related to football. At this point Ewers and Howard look like good bets to go over him too.I have no issue with Browns passing on him, but if they gonna take Dillon freaking Gabriel, they shoulda drafted Shedeur and risked the circus.Anything can happen, but i think these teams are to smart to make an unforced error like that. Why?I have no issue with Browns passing on him, but if they gonna take Dillon freaking Gabriel, they shoulda drafted Shedeur and risked the circus.Anything can happen, but i think these teams are to smart to make an unforced error like that. And now we see that Deoin and Shedeur were basically making fun of the Browns for having Flacco. Yeah, that's a QB you want leading your team. Why?I have no issue with Browns passing on him, but if they gonna take Dillon freaking Gabriel, they shoulda drafted Shedeur and risked the circus.Anything can happen, but i think these teams are to smart to make an unforced error like that. Coaches don't want to deal with the circus within their team. And having Deion's pot shots that he's a better coach/his kid should be starting etc.......
It will take an extrenched coach with entrenched starting QB. I'm starting to doubt they want to deal with it either.....for a backup/3rd string QB......or practice squad QB. And I think Shadeur's skills are perfect for a McVay developmental project
Deion can go talk how his kid is the best QB in USFL etc....
Shadeur can go be legendary in USFL...
If his kid wants in the league, he can grind that way. Away from his father. Maybe he'll find a way in eventually. People **** on Bronny James. Guess what? He's working his *** off in G-League to get better....

Only because I thought Gabriel was a waste. Why?

And Joe Flacco, Super Bowl champ and MVP, has held a clipboard for a long time tooAnd now we see that Deoin and Shedeur were basically making fun of the Browns for having Flacco. And while Flacco might be old now, I am going to call it now and say Shedeur will never have as much success in the NFL as Flacco, but hey, if Shedeur gets to the NFL and someday wins the Super Bowl and is the MVP of the game, anyone is free to bump this post and I will admit I was dead wrong.

Early in the off season Deion did say that he had a list of teams he would let his son play for.Why do people have this impression of Deion? When has he ever done something like this?think Deon hindered his kids upside too. it feels like he will be yapping at the coach/GM every time he feels they didnt handle his kid the right way. or worse..... yapping at the media. I wouldnt want the distraction. While he is a good prospect, hes no
Of course that is Deion's fault. He has been actively promoting Shedeur as the next big thing at QB for years. With Deion's name recognition and high profile he can't now pretend that he doesn't know why there is such media fanfare around him.and this is NOT Deion's fault, that the current media landscape is such that he will constantly be getting asked about his son in the pros.
Only question now is if on NFL practice squad or USFL-minor leagues/etc.....
In a vacuum getting drafted later isn't a death knell. Kirk Cousins was a 4th rounder and has made eleventy billion dollars.
Whether the Sanderses have the demeanor to take the long way 'round...I dunno.
The media didn't farcically retire Shedeur's number, Deion did. Deion uses the media to hype his kid, and it blew up in both their faces. Shedeur had an opportunity to step in and say it wasn't earned, or wasn't the right time, but he didn't. This is on no one but them.Of course that is Deion's fault. Tebow is a better example of a guy not necessarily actively promoting himself but still having the media circus around him. Although I'd bet dollars to donuts there was more going on behind the scenes from his people to promote him than we know about.
Oh sure, both Sanders are in a mess of their own doing. Agree with thisThe media didn't farcically retire Shedeur's number, Deion did. Maybe…just maybe, he’s not a very good prospect.Because the league never colludes?I kinda doubt they got together for a meeting to talk about not drafting this guy.I haven't read every post but has anyone thrown out the word "collusion" yet?
