Rams @ Vikings - Preseason Game Thread (2 Viewers)

Preseason, but Jackson looking better then I think people expected, it appears Williamson could be a nice late round FF pick

The Vikings O-line has not opened many holes yet. Peterson looks quick and strong but not great numbers without much running lanes opened up. Peterson also looked like he did not know where to line up on one play.

McCauley is impressive.

Tarvaris looks nice, but has to do a better job of play action fakes...not good at that at all. Trying to get his head around for the read too quickly.

I was very impressed by the Vikings passing game. Jackson played with pretty good poise. Likes to take off running when in trouble and I thought he floated some passes but he had the team moving pretty well.

Peterson 8 carries for 21 yards, 1 catch for 2 yards

Brian Leonard on the other hand, 9 carries, 36 yds, 1 TD, 5 catches for 30 yds

I like to add that Leonard doesn't really look that special running the ball, but when the hole's there he's hit it and ran hard. He's got very nice hands also.

So is Leonard looking like he can handle the load and produce some stats if S. Jackson goes down. A good cheap handcuff for Jackson owners?

Anyone notice how well Carriker was playing? Did the Vikings have a difficult time blocking him?

Glad to hear Williamson doing well.

How does Bulger look?
didn't turn it on till he was out, but he went 6 for 7 for 42 yards and a pick....As for the next post about Carriker....The announcers showed some clips after the half and were pretty impressed with his play. The Rams did pretty well keeping the Vikes to 3 in the first half....

Physically, Bryan Leanard looks like an average average NFL fullback.
most overhyped player on these boards...he's the next John Riggins.
First, its Brian Leonard. Second, if you think he is overhyped, you do not know anything about Brian. If you have ever seen him play in college, you wouldn't be saying that. This kid is the real deal. He is an athletic freak. Take a look at this clip:
He has all the skills to be an excellent running back, not just fullback. If he was just an average fullback, would Linehan and the Rams bank on him as the backup to SJAX? And on top of that, Linehan already stated that he likes him so much that he is going to be used more than just a backup. He is one of the best, if not the best, receiving RBs in this year's draft class. He has good speed, is a very good blocker, and has freakish strength. And don't ignore the fact that he is a very smart guy with great character.

Keep underestimating him right now if you choose, because soon enough, you won't be able to.

I have no doubt that he could carry the load if need be. Probably wouldn't put up SJAX numbers, but he wouldn't be a slouch either.

What's the deal with ADP still being in in the 3rd quarter?

Did Chester play at all after the first play of the game?

1 carry for -4 yards for Chester. That's it....ADP is still in there trying to get his YPC above 3.0 against the Rams scrubs on D....

this just confirms what I already knew. Avoid Vickings in fantasy drafts. Dynasty maybe for the future. But it's gonna take a while for that offense to rebound like the old days.

Not sure about this...I guess you aren't watching the game. Their first team offense did quite well in moving the ball. They didn't get it in the end zone, but Williamson, Wade and Jackson looked good, so I think they could be decent borderline starters that could be had on the cheap. The defense will be really good. Edwards is playing well (and all four quarters :goodposting: ) - maybe they are giving him paybacks for the fight against the Chiefs.

Artose Pinner just had a carry for 1 yard....Watch out.....JWJDKLDGFJJDJS will be in here in a minute telling us that the kid is destined for the HOF.....

A. Its the first preseason game. B. Its the Rams defense.Lets not get too excited.Jackson should be nowhere near anyone's fantasy team...Wade? Hah!!!!!Williamson could be promising if he has somehow learned to catch the ball. I doubt he will be worth anything during the year though...maybe a spot fill in from time to time. The only intriguing part of that offense is Peterson and Taylor and who knows what kind of split they will really have.

Carriker Looked really good. Glad to see that as a Rams Fan, major difference this year. Also, Wroten gots lots of play and looked decent, which is nice.

Holt open often, as always.... On the pick, Bulger felt pressure that was not there and rushed a throw, if he steps up, Holt is flying wide open, TD-City.

Leanord looks really really good. A poor man's westbrook.

how did Peterson look? those numbers sometimes dont tell the whole story.
I thought Peterson looked OK. He is fast and strong. The biggest issue was the Viking OL did not open any holes. The Rams DL dominated the Vikes OL I thought. I was also impressed how Peterson seemed to always fall forward and fight for an extra yard. Peterson looks to be a special player if he can stay healthy. That OL better open some holes though.

Peterson didn't play with the first team OL much, so it was hard to tell - I'm just happy he didn't wreck his collar bone again tonight!! (OU fan here!)
