2013 Year-end Report
Your goals coming into the year, and were they achieved? Hmmm...I guess I've had the 18:59 5K, 39:59 10K and 1:29:59 half marathon as goals for a while. Only ran one 5K on a 90 degree day and fell woefully short (19:38), ran 3 road halfs and nothing seemed to workout (closest 1:32:25) BUT I did run one 10K and totally made it my ##### with a 39:25.
New accomplishments or PRs in 2013:

New accomplishments or PRs in 2013: PR'd 8K twice (32:03 & 31:43), PR'd the half marathon twice (1:34:12 & 1:32:25), PR'd the 10K (39:25) and PR'd the 50K (4:45:23)
Been a good year.
Your proudest and/or best race (or segment within a race): This is a tough one. Finished 7th out of over 1000 in local 8K sand/mud run. Was majorly stoked to break 40 in the 10K finally. And obviously, I'm less than week removed from my 50K where I shaved off 40 minutes compared to last year despite cramping badly the last 8 miles.
A race disappointment during 2013: As crazy as it sounds, I'd say it's PR's in both half marathons. I think I did about as well as I could considering the injuries I had a the time but that's it...I was nicked up pretty good for both of them. Felt like I left a lot time out on the road in both those races. Was disappointed that I didn't get to bring my "A" game to either.
Your most memorable workout or race for the year: Again, it's been less than a week. Been thinking about how awesome it felt to see that finish line at the end of the 50K. Just amazing.
Favorite “go to” workouts and/or routes: My gym is a 1/2 mile from the Virginia Beach boardwalk and I probably ran that thing 100 times this past year.
Total training volume during 2013: PR for me here too. Ran just over 1200 miles.
Best memories of other guys’ training or races in 2013: BNB's 100 mile race on such little volume...you're insane brother. Steve for his advice and machine like half marathon splits. Love reading all your race reports...worrierking's was classic after his last marathon.
Oddest or funniest experiences (yours or one of the other guys): Hmmm...I sharted on my bathroom rug (white rug) while shaving this past Saturday before my 50K.
 Goal(s) for 2014:

Goal(s) for 2014: Take the next step. See where increased training volume takes me. Be smarter about injuries and know when to back off. And of course PR everything.
