Ran a 10k - Official Thread (7 Viewers)

Keep in mind that about 30% of the field had to DNF.

I guy behind @SayWhat? arrived within the 24 hour cut-off, and he was the last one.  No one else shows as having reached Robie Point yet.

@SayWhat?.... Saywhat!!!???

Absolute jawdropping inspiration.

I said it the other day...but just getting to the starting line is unfathomable to me- the amount of work/pain...speechless. and then to throw THAT down on race day?!

Absolute awe.

I was thinking the same thing. He might as well be juggling fire while climbing Mount Everest - it's just something that I would never contemplate starting.

Still 157 runners out there, 50 of them still somewhere between Green Gate (79.8) and ALT (85.2).  The sun coming up usually gives a little boost, but at this race when you still have 4-5 hours to go you also know the heat is coming - it's 72 now with a forecast of 84 by 10:00, up to 88 at 11:00, and a high of 99 today in Auburn.  It was my biggest disappointment during my experience, the realization as I trudged along with my chaffed undercarriage that I was going to have to grind out a finish (and more puking) in the day 2 heat.

Really can't wrap my head around this type of achievement.  Also just want to say I appreciate chief, triman, duck, gian, etc. giving all of the updates to help follow along.  Just amazing.

I didn’t post at all during this amazing race, but it was incredible to be able to follow along from the middle of nowhere northern Wisconsin.   How does someone run for 24 hours straight?   Make it 100 miles in those conditions?  Just ridiculously impressive.

Just checked the run on Strava. I wonder how accurate the HR data is on that. Maybe @SFBayDuck can weigh in on it. It almost looks like he was in recovery mode for the last 70 miles!

I'm sure it's accurate since he was climbing. I'm guessing afterward his legs were the much bigger limiting factor so HR had to come down.
