And I've already worked 50+ hours this week.![]()
Just checking back in here. First 40+ mile ride yesterday in a long, long while. The reports of my demise are mostly true (and my legs are telling me definitely true), but I'm trying to cut back on 60 hour work weeks and get some form back.
Good luck on the marathon thing this weekend, gents!
Thought I did get in an OWS on Sunday (rock quarry near here), which was cool. I take it back....I'm sure I'll get back to running and cycling consistently sometime soon, but just thought I'd share that some time off isn't a bad thing and allows for mixing it up a bit.
...the swimming continues...."Prime Minister Jean Castex, in a press conference on Thursday morning, announced that the Paris police chief, after consultation with the mayor, "will expand mask wearing" - which is already compulsory on public transport, in enclosed spaces, and in certain busy areas of the city - "throughout the capital.
Paris City Hall later confirmed that the new rule will come into place at 8am on Friday, August 28th....
Paris and its suburbs had already made masks compulsory in many of the busiest streets, but this expands the rule to all public outdoor spaces.
The rules all to all users of the spaces - pedestrians, joggers and cyclists included - and failure to comply attracts a €135 fine."

I don't get either of these.I do hope when he was done, @JShare87 told them he'd see himself out.
welcome to my world in NYC... although as I posted the other day, it's only me and a handful of other people actually wearing masks on runs. the other people use them as neck bands or chin straps or wrist accessories.I take it back....![]()

The first reference is because I said I would only consume rice for a week leading up to my first marathon. The second reference is when I said something stupid and was corrected on it. I think I apologized and said “I’ll see myself out.” I did that for about a week straight at the end of every post.I don't get either of these.

A comparative study of two shovel designs
Abstract
In the present study a modified shovel design with two perpendicular shafts is presented. This modified, two-shaft shovel was compared with a regular shovel. The modified shovel was evaluated and tested in a controlled laboratory environment using surface electromyography recorded from the lumbar paraspinal muscles. The new shovel design was also tested in a field study using ratings of perceived exertion. The results indicate that there was a significant reduction in EMG values of the lumbar paraspinal muscles and a consistent reduction in perceived exertion ratings while the modified shovel was being used for removing dirt in digging trenches up to 90 cm in depth.

This is exemplary of how things have been managed in Paris during this COVID time we're in. Say one thing, then listen to all of the ways you've outraged people and change your mind.Turnaround situation. The Paris police headquarters indicated this Friday morning that cyclists and joggers can travel without a mask in Paris and in the inner suburbs.
Yeah it only actually works if there is enforcement and there is hardly any of that here. Since the strict quarantine has lifted the police are back to normal duties and they do not have the resources to enforce the mask policies. And totally agree that running with a mask is doable, was being a wee-bit dramaticEl Floppo said:welcome to my world in NYC... although as I posted the other day, it's only me and a handful of other people actually wearing masks on runs. the other people use them as neck bands or chin straps or wrist accessories.
honestly- we can all handle wearing a mask while running.
speaking of swimming... did you swim down on the shore? nothing like getting into open water to stretch things out instead of flippy-lappy pools.
You are the hero we need...not the one we deserveJShare87 said:Beet Juice and its Impact on Runners’ Performance.

NYC police don't seem to be doing much policing, mask or otherwise, from what I've seen first hand and heard second hand.Yeah it only actually works if there is enforcement and there is hardly any of that here. I did "swim" a little bit, if you can call it that; but no watch or anything. I'll have to get to properly swimming in the open water a bit later on. I'm just trying to be able to do some bi-lateral breathing at the moment. Baby steps over here.
kept me from kicking too hard with the whole leg, which also helped me for the bike and run. Thanks for posting that. I hadn't looked yet.How in the world hasn't this been posted yet?

Yeah but for the other two who have been running consistently in the 70s and 80s, it should feel fantastic. With the weather and taper rest, I'm expecting good things! If I....errr, Grue....was racing, I...errr, he...would say that’s too warm. Good thing I’m....err, he’s...just pacing.

Yeah, I was looking for a course map. You got one handy? With the lake set up there I might be able to talk my uncle into driving up and bringing his boat. We could root for you while we are on the water drinking beer and catching fish.
