Maybe you misunderstood.  We didn't both get suspended.
Oh, what I understand is that you'll be tapering this week, and then in post-marathon glow/recovery for a couple weeks after.  So I anticipate heat/sweat complaining to be limited to your RR...

I'm already wondering which facet will get the most complaining - (a) heat/sweat, (b) miles 20-26.2, (c) taskmaster Grue.  Overshadowing them all should be the race success, of course.   :boxing:    :headbang:

I likely don't have to worry about c).  They will be running faster than me for most of the race.  I'm not shooting for faster than 3:45 like they will be and even 3:45 is not likely in the cards.  My goal at this point is to just run well, be smart, and break 4 hrs. That's not a given at all.

Where is the race again?

How does a virtual fun run work? After registering for the event at the link below, you will be able to complete your 5K or 10K anytime and anywhere during the month of September. Simply run or walk 3.1 or 6.2 miles any time at any location that works for you. In your neighborhood, your favorite trail, or even on a treadmill! Complete the race on your own, or together with your entire family. Afterwards, you will be able to enter your time on our race webpage. For the first time in the history of our Going Gold Fun Run, participants from all over the country (and world) will be able to take part in this fun event for a great cause!

REGISTRATIONLINK: https://runsignup.com/Race/TX/Anytown/Chanceforhope

I’m in for the 10K. Signing up for the 10K was the shark move imo. All these other monsters sign up for the 5K. Makes for an easy dub in the 10K for me. 😎

Welcome to my living hell. I mean, I love my kids - and things could be so much worse. But, seriously. This is like death by a thousand paper cuts day after day.
Yep

Some of us get 5,000 paper cuts day after day.

(Honestly the HS isn't so bad)

Super excited to have all of you registering for the run!  The shirts and medals will be mailed in October since people can register through Sept. 30 and we’ll put in the order once registration closes. Hope you all like the swag!

Grue said to tell you guys that he was going to run this morning, but it was already warm and super humid at 6am, so he decided to multitask and jump on the treadmill instead this afternoon while he watches the Bucks finish off the Magic (advancing to what he fears will be a very problematic series against the Heat).

Back in NYC and grabbed a run today.

Legs are still barking after my longer run Sunday...4hr car trip didn't help.

And...I've never seen so many runners on the east river as a did today (5pm ish). It was like being in a race- that many people, and tough to run slow on my recovery day with all these people passing me. More are wearing masks, but it's disappointingly still 1/6-7 instead of 1/9-10.

Good to see you!  How are things?
things are good. finally decided to quit making bad excuses and try to make good habits again. still theoretically have a HM to run in about 6 weeks. it may still get cancelled but for now it's on. I've got some work to do!

Salut mes amis.  Went on a short vacation with the wife two weeks ago, just after the Paris Marathon was officially cancelled. Did one run while I was there and then thought, "I just need a break." So I haven't run or cycled for these two weeks save for a casual 5km with my wife. Or even talked running/cycling. Or looked much at Strava. Or opened this thread since 11 days ago.

I think I was trying to find something new or different or just add some variety to my sports/exercise life. And then a funny thing happened. Last Saturday I decided I wanted to be a decent swimmer. Usually I only swim in the waning weeks leading up to a triathlon, to get me through it. Extremely uncomfortable in the water as well. But with nothing in the imminent future, this was a new feeling. Something that I wanted to do, instead of having to do. So I've been to the pool four of the last six days and wouldn't you know, it's getting easier! Have been reading lots of articles and watching lots of videos re: swimming and maybe one day I could even grow to....like?.... it. I've tried before but this feels different as I'm not on some triathlon training plan slogging through, but rather on my own accord.

I'm sure I'll get back to running and cycling consistently sometime soon, but just thought I'd share that some time off isn't a bad thing and allows for mixing it up a bit.

Now excuse me while I catch up on the last 5 pages, I've got some hippling to do...  :coffee:

:)

Love it..

the weather has been perfect this week in the early morning. 64° and 100% humidity - okay, humidity still sucks donkey balls, but I'll take the temps.
Seemingly past the worst of it here. Our low last night was in the mid-50s and at 10:30am this morning it's 62 with 72% humidity. I can't imagine it getting crazy warm again 'til next year.

I think I'm ready for the race in a couple weeks. Today certainly helped. I have no idea how I'll run it much faster than today but we will see what happens.
Amazing work on the 20-miler! And if you had some more in the tank like you stated then you're right on track. The bulk of the work is behind you and you're over the mental hump as well. Really glad to hear you're figuring out the hydration/nutrition element. Can be one of the tricker things to dial-in before a big race. Just some good sleeping and good eating over the next couple weeks and you're there!   :hifive:

Edit: Glad to see in the post below that the Mrs. is doing well also! Looking forward to following on race day!

I get to join the "My Garmin Died" club.  Yay!   Thing was wonky with the music for the past 2 months (got it November 2019) and now won't even power on.

One thing I didn't appreciate when I got my watch is that Garmin Forerunner 645 doesn't broadcast HR and cadence during activity via Bluetooth (whereas the 245 does do this). The 645  only broadcasts HR and only via ANT+.  Who would care about this?  Someone that can't run who wants to use Zwift Run using an ellipitcal but can't with the 645.
I just read DC Rainmaker's review on the Coros Pace 2 and it sounds pretty great. If my 920XT ever dies I'm going to give it a hard look for sure. With so many competing products on the market today there are some good Garmin alternatives out there, and more to come...

Got a nice 9 miler in this morning. At work now and going to study for an hour. Work for about an hour and then head home to try and become @gianmarco’s favorite doctor by successfully defending my dissertation at 9:00 am! Super excited to finish this thing off. Defense report to follow!
Damn dude, good luck!

Oh, very cool!  I didn't recall that you were working on a doctorate.  Looking forward to welcoming you to the club.

So true. The marathon I've mentioned before, I was doing 20ish miles/week for a few months. I would do the long runs and then one or maybe two 3-5m runs during the week. (With a newborn, so sleep etc...have fun Harris!). I did the 20m run on the schedule, but I really didn't have the miles in me to be happy or ready on race day. The last 1/2 sucked.
