Unfortunately Ned had to drop out at mile 14 due to his Achilles. This sucks I feel so bad for him.Any news?
Damn - sucks. Sorry Ned :(Unfortunately Ned had to drop out at mile 14 due to his Achilles. This sucks I feel so bad for him.
I plan on signing up for my spring marathon at the end of the month. Just want so see if I can handle some training first before I signup. If all goes well I am in for Boston 18.It's been a disappointing season for Boston qualifiers. I thought we'd have 5 at this point but we've only had 1. It seems like it has been bad luck with injuries and stuff other than commitment or ability. I hope everyone keeps it up and tries again this winter or spring. I'm definitely still planning on running Boston 18!

Incredibly wise to recognize the situation for what it is, than to push yourself into a more serious injury. That sucks bad, but I love the above. Can't wait to follow your next go at it!The disappointment really fricken sucks, but I'll be back. I'm committed to Boston no matter what at this point.
Yup, marathons are tough. I think I've mentioned my count, that in only 3 of my 11 have I been in relatively positive spirits at the end.Sucks for @Ned but he is still an amazing rock star. His positivity is infectious.
All too often, we are reminded the marathon distance is not something easy or automatic. One can put the training in and the smallest thing can derail the race.
hope @Ned picks himself up, dusts himself off, gets healthy and gets back out there. He has the BQ in him. We all know this.

tell us more about this crewing. Not great quality as it's my phone recording the video showing on my iPad, but here's the clip that Tri was watching. It's cool for me to see, because I basically blacked out for a minute. My girlfriend said she didn't even hear them say my name after the "from Novato, California....". But I did, and we stood up and hugged, I gave her a kiss, then ran up to the stage. I was backstage for a couple of minutes watching, and I tried to text my buddies and parents and my hands were shaking so much I just gave up and put my phone away. And the room must have been super dusty because my eyes kept watering.....tri-man 47 said:DUCK'S IN!!!![]()
Selection #122. I have it live on FB and got to see our guy spring onto the stage. Very cool.
Congrats, SFDuck! So happy for you.
Ahh, with 2.5% odds there's nothing to be sorry about. I'd love to have had a horseshoe up my ###, but I'd also have felt incredibly guilty to get my lone ticket pulled when there are those such as yourself (in their 4th, 5th, and 6th years) just dying to get into this race.SFBayDuck said:Sorry man, now you'll just have to come out and crew! Smile 5KSo much for taking it easy getting back for me...
Guy in my neighborhood gave me a free entry to a 5K trail race tomorrow morning. Based on last year it could be a pretty weak field though...might be a decent race to cherry pick a "W".![]()
Wow can't believe I didn't think to mention my ankle. Yeah, happy to report that running at speed didn't seem to bother me at all yesterday. I can't say it's fully healed but it's certainly trending in the right direction.
Origi goal was pretty sweet, though. Only 42 miles recovering from a bum ankle? That's weak sauce!I got in 10 miles including my warm up and cool down, bringing my total for the week to 42 miles. Pretty happy with that.
