Just coming in here to vent a bit.
Race tomorrow. 29K trail, ~1,000m of elevation. Not really excited about it. It's the "
Moose Mountain Trail Race" but the Moose Mountain trail has been closed all summer so that the Province can reconstruct the fire lookout at the peak. So race organizers had to use a different trail in the area that doesn't go up Moose Mountain. And that really reduces the appeal to me.
But it's paid-for and I need to do a long Saturday run anyway (haven't done one in three weeks), so why not. Plus my friend is racing with me, so at least I'll have some company.
And despite trying some piriformis stretches, my right leg is actually getting worse. Glute pain is now spreading into the hamstring and calf.
I should probably take some time off after the race, but I lose fitness so fast (as seen during my two marathon tapers and post-race recoveries) and I don't want to regress. I've only had three sub-50K (30mi) weeks all year (all marathon-related) and I love that I have this good habit going.
I could run a PR HM right now for sure, even with the pain, but getting to 30K probably wouldn't be possible due to my butt getting progressively worse as any run increases in duration.
Sitting all day at the office also doesn't seem to be helping. By the end of the day my right butt hurts just from doing that.
Again, just venting.
Move along, nothing to see here.
