Random movie "aha" moment (1 Viewer)

The actor who plays the lead character in the TV show Scorpion, was on Game of Thrones as the follower of Khal Drogo who choked Viserys with his whip.

The Senator's daughter who was captured in Silence of the Lambs played an art teacher in one episode of Six Feet Under.

This is pushing it, but what double connection to the movie (without ever appearing in it) does Gavin McCloud have to the movie Airplane?

1. Jill Whelan

2. His real name is Shirley
Half right. And quit calling him Shirley.

In the movie Jill Whelen plays the sick daughter of

Joyce Bulifant.

Whelen played McCloud's daughter on Love Boat & Bulifant played his wife

on The Mary Tyler Moore Show.

There was no appearance or mention of the father/husband anywhere during

Airplane, I'm assuming because he was at the time on a boat.

Showed Rounders to my girlfriend the other day. The guy who played Angel in Dexter and Maroni in Gotham and Morales in OZ was one of the men at the table in the police game who kicked the asses of Matt Damon and Ed Norton after Norton was caught dealing from the bottom of the deck.

Sorry if this was posted before, but I just finished watching Deadwood and realized Stephen Tobolowsky, who played Hugo Jarry (the annoying government official from Yankton) in that played Ned Ryerson in Groundhog Day. So apparently he's got a knack for playing ineffectual annoying characters.

In Almost Famous Nick Swardson is the guy at the hotel who screams "Oh my god it's Bowie"

When Stillwater gets to the hotel in NYC Stuart from the Big Bang Theory tries getting an autograph. Doesn't have a line.

Interesting you mentioned Almost Famous. Was also watching it this weekend and spotted Eric Stonestreet (Cam from Modern Family) as the hotel desk clerk.

Also, my girls had some cartoon on in the other room.. no clue what it was, but I knew "Carol's" voice (Last Man on Earth) as soon as I heard it....

He also voices a character on a Disney Jr. cartoon (Sofia the First) :bag:

The voice of Sofia is the youngest daughter in Modern Family....

speaking of cars, my old building was in Vanilla Sky for the car crash (96th and Riverside Drive). My apt was above camera view there- but I was leaning out of it watching the entire time- and ignoring all the PAs yelling at me to not. freezing day, and they had at least half a dozen of those cars lined up, ready to crash. IIRC, they crashed 3.

Tim Gunn from Project Runway is the butler's voice.

Watched "Ordinary People" last night. Timothy Hutton's girl friend from the psych hospital who ends up committing suicide toward the end of the movie is the same girl who plays Marty Maricino from "Grease".

The Father in Sixteen Candles (Paul Dooley) is the uncle in Strange Brew. He's also the radio announcer for road team in Slap Shot. (The peanut vendors are standing up to them)

Never made that connection before.

Not an actor showing up in a early bit part. But it's funny how you can watch a movie literally dozens of times, and then suddenly catch a minute detail that you've never noticed.

I've seen Die Hard probably over 30 times. And only just last night caught the fact that two of Hans' terrorists were betting on whether Hans would blow the Japanese boss's head off. After the splatter shot and right when McClain distracts everyone, you see Karl paying off the bet.

I wasn't convinced by its performance.

I thought it did a respectable job for a 2003 Toyota Camry.

"I want some American food! Bring me some French Fries!"

Was watching some Thundermans show on Disney or Nick Jr with my kid and there's a talking rabbit...I knew the voice sounded familiar...it was Master Shake from Aqua Teen Hunger Force
