They had 4-5 RBs, and he was effectively beaten out by Chris Carson.what did SEA not see in Collins ?
To be fair, there was no role for him. They have five guys who are bigger and three they thought were better receivers.Come on. They had Eddie Lacy!what did SEA not see in Collins ?
I may have stored him on my dynasty team all year last year and through the offseason...To be fair, there was no role for him. They have five guys who are bigger and three they thought were better receivers.
It wasn’t obvious to anyone after his underwhelming rookie season they were cutting someone special. When the Ravens signed him, nobody started the “Alex Collins to Ravens - this is BIG” thread.
they actually liked him. But they had a lot of RBs in preseason - they believed Rawls could return to form, Lacy with the investment, Prosise is a great player when healthy, Carson had beaten out Collins, and McKissic had a lot of usage as a gadget type player and for special teams as well.what did SEA not see in Collins ?
Yeah, why won't Harbaugh spend more time considering the needs of your fantasy team? What an #####!I haven't posted in a while, so this is overdue. Just wanted to pop in to say that John Harbaugh can continue ####### himself. Dropped Collins in my short bench weeks ago due to Harbaugh not knowing his ### from a hole in the ground and realizing Collins was better than any RB he had on the roster. I'm glad Collins is doing good, and that you all hung on for the ride, but Harbaugh can eat ####.
It was pretty clear that Collins was the best RB on the team. he was averaging over 5 YPC but he still kept giving the ball to Buck Allen and wouldn't commit to him. Nobody cares about my fantasy team, I am well aware. But his inability to utilize the best players on his team does not put his team in the best position to win. It absolutely blows my mind. It's like Mularkey in Tennessee riding DeMarco Murray when he's clearly being outperformed by Derrick Henry. I expect that from Mularkey, but not Harbaugh.Yeah, why won't Harbaugh spend more time considering the needs of your fantasy team? What an #####!
Actually, I was just thinking last night about how I came close to dropping Collins a couple times earlier in the season, so I can't bust your balls too much. As @BobbyLayne points out above, it may have been a function of him joining the team late, and Harbaugh gradually growing to trust him with more and more responsibilities.

I had him in both leagues at one point but dropped him one of the leagues at that point too - right before he blew up on TNFStill kicking myself for dropping him the week before his blowup Miami game. Alex Collins is really good
Short bench league. 5 bench spots, 15 starting positions. Just couldn't roster him anymore.and it's been pretty clear that ever since his first game, his role has continued to grow but he needed to earn their trust (seeing as how going back to his college days he's fumbled about once every 17 touches)...
i'm not sure why you cut him (or even when you cut him?!?) but that's kind of on you.
i've owned him since week 2 and at NO POINT have i ever considered dropping him.
Well obviously the play worked for them (decoy and all that stuff) so while I don't expect John Harbaugh to cater to my fantasy scoring needs it is still annoying as s***It was the same thing when Collins had 2 TDs. They threw on first and goal from the 1 twice and got it. Its like they purposefully try to make sure he doesnt get too many TDs or something.

In all seriousness, should it really take THAT long to earn a coach's trust? My god.
Maybe they couldn't see him at all and assumed Eddie ate him...what did SEA not see in Collins ?
In Eddie's shadow the whole time.Maybe they couldn't see him at all and assumed Eddie ate him...
Well, yeah. But the whole team was probably in Eddie's shadowIn Eddie's shadow the whole time.
I do. Brown's run D hasn't been as stout lately as they were in the early part of the season. 11th most points to RBs the last 5 weeks.Do we like the cleveland matchup this week??
They apparently had some injuries as well andare far from a horrbile matchup right now. I like his chances to put up 80+ yards or so from scrimmage and then maybe a TD or two. After the show he put on against the Steelers he's a must-start for me.I do. Brown's run D hasn't been as stout lately as they were in the early part of the season. 11th most points to RBs the last 5 weeks.
Can you share thinking in placing him over Perine? I lean the same way, but struggling with the fact that Perine is literally the only healthy RB on the roster besides depth pick ups for this week. On flip side, he has been disappointing the last two weeks and WAS may be throwing in the towel. Would be easy decision if Thompson were still there to poach receptions (I am PPR).BobbyLayne said:Starting at RB2 OVER Samje and Mixon
(e.g., the best of three tough matchups
Not thrilled to be starting 3 WRs and flexing a 4th at WRT in December - with forecasts of rain & wind - but as far as hot hands go, this is an easy one me thinks
When you lose two fumbles on your first 25 carries, yes it really should take that long to earn a coach's trust.Tommy Collins said:In all seriousness, should it really take THAT long to earn a coach's trust? My god.
I'm not sure I consider Cleveland a tough matchup. Over the last 5 weeks, they are the 9th best matchup (non-ppr). They've allowed 16 FF ppg to the LEAD RB over those 5 weeks, and 19.7 FF ppg to all RBs over that span. When you look at the entire season, Cleveland has been much better against the run, but they've been leaky lately.BobbyLayne said:Starting at RB2 OVER Samje and Mixon

Agreed, merely going off the season long FFPA to RBs. As noted above, not so much of late.I'm not sure I consider Cleveland a tough matchup. Are you me? My starting lineup is Bell/Collins/Perine.My logic is pretty simple:
Perine has a decent floor. Collins has a much higher ceiling.
- better RB
- better O-line play of late (mostly injury related)
- don't bet into a trend; it is your friend (OK, until it ends.) Last 3 G: Collins RB5, Perine RB23 (full PPR.) - I've been starting both with Bell (RB2 & Flex)
- CLE run defense has been softer of late - 454 YFS, 17 REC, 3 TDS versus opposing RBs the last 3 weeks
- ARI FFPA to RBs - 30th (3rd fewest) the last 3 games - 313 YFS, 16 REC, 1 TD. That's Miller/Foreman, Fournette/Yeldon, Murray/Henry.
- Collins seeing targets - not as much as Perine, but enough it mitigates
- Collins 4 rushing TDs, Perine 0
The groupthink of frequent posters around here. Are you me? My starting lineup is Bell/Collins/Perine.
*My starting RBs as well.. Going to roll all three again. I do have WR options for FLEX in place of Perine, but hesitant to start 3 WRs.Are you me? My starting lineup is Bell/Collins/Perine.
I feel the same way (except we have 10 starters / 8 on offense - QB WR WR WR RB RB TE WRT K DST), I just don't feel right going with 4 WRs over 3 RBs, especially mid-December.My starting RBs as well.. I would. Diggs hasn’t had more than 6 receptions or 100 yards since week 3. Just 1 TD in that time as well. Woods is back which will take away targets for Kupp.I should probably plug Collins in @ flex in PPR (My starting RBs are Ingram & Fournette) over Kupp & Diggs, but I don't know if I can do it...
I’m going with Allen - Goodwin - Bell - Collins - Perine.I feel the same way (except we have 10 starters / 8 on offense - QB WR WR WR RB RB TE WRT K DST), I just don't feel right going with 4 WRs over 3 RBs, especially mid-December.
Started out the week thinking my superior WR matchups should dictate my decision. Then I remembered how often the "all-greenlight" lineup fails, stupid crutch argument.
Now going Allen - Funchess - Cooks + Bell - Collins - Perine.
Bench: Gordon, Mixon, Smith-Schuster, R. Woods.
I have lost all trust in Thomas. I’m riding this train all the way..Struggling with who to sit right now, have him on the bench for D. Thomas/Jordy (1 WR2, the other flex). RBs are Ingram/Gordon. PPR
Ingram?? That's some balls man....Leaning Collins to pair with Gurley
over Ingram, Henry and Lewis
You're getting too cute.Leaning Collins to pair with Gurley

Good read, thanksExcellent article breaking down collins’ success http://www.theringer.com/nfl/2017/12/13/16770368/alex-collins-ravens-offense
This is always a difficult question to answer without knowing the roster and scoring format. In a vacuum, why not? If you like the compensation in return, pull the trigger. Is Collins a sell high in the off-season? I l know Forsett was a lot older than Collins, but this has that one season wonder feel to it.
