RB Carson Steele, KC (1 Viewer)

I had to pick him up! It was a clear sign for my roster!! Why you ask?
My oldest son’s name is Steele
My 2nd son’s name is Carson
Note: 3rd son is Luke

How could I not get him!?!
Brother, I just looked up Carson Steele's middle name, and I don't even know how to say this but all I can say is, you're not gonna believe this, my friend.

Couldn't find it 🤷‍♂️
That was classic!! TY
I did find he owns a pet alligator!!!

Middle Name = Joseph
(My brother’s name)
You found it! That took some digging.

I got him for a $1 tonight in our FA draft along with Jordan Mason. Had to pay $49 for the latter.

Was a bit surprised I got Steele for free given the recent hype and his success in the pre-season.

- Carson Steele has made the team
- This dude's nickname is WAR HORSE
- Deneric Prince was released
- CEH stinks and has PTSD

What do we do with all this info. Is he the #2 RB behind Pacheco?
I think I just want to draft a guy named Carson Steele for my roster.

ETA: I saw someone on Twitter call him "Cream Hunt" - that's beautiful.

I am pretty sure he is the #2 behind Pacheco.

from the way he runs the ball he may be a candidate for some goal line carries too.

Thus is the kind of guy who is very interesting but very hard to rank for dynasty. There is some small chance he is the next fantasy monster. And there is plenty of chance he is a FB who optimistically will have 11 attempts for 18 yards and 4 TDs.

Dynasty players, how many rookie RB's would you rank ahead of him?

Brings back memories of Peyton Hillis

Zero. Just kidding, but I think you can make an argument in that KC offense, he's got top 5 rookie RB potential. Of course this class suuuuuucks at RB so not sure how much that's saying about him.

I dont know that he will be a monster. he runs with good vision and exceptional power, but has not much in the way of a burst.

if running behind a good line, he is capable of performing. but otherwise its dicey.

I think he is limited in what he can do which likely means the best he can hope for is a 1A role but more likely hes a top notch backup.

"high motor guy"
"coach on the field"
"leader in the locker room"
"always hustles"
"sneaky athletic"

That was the first name that came to mind when I saw his highlights.

Yeah, getting some serious Kuhn vibes. Feel like he's gonna get just enough action on full back draws and trick plays / shuttle passes at the goal line to vulture away an impactful number of TD's from Pacheco.

hes actually pretty decent with respect to hitting the hole and following his blocks, but he doesnt always make it through the hole before it closes due to the lack of a burst. but his straight arm has forced open a couple holes that closed while he was partway through and he then got some good yards.

a guy that big isnt easy for a DB to take down once he gets through the line.

Sorry Steele owners, I picked him up today around 1 pm. Good news is I cut him for Perine so there's hope now.

I'm all in. Spent about 85% of my season's BBIDs for him in a bunch of dynasty leagues. He looks like the 2nd coming of John Riggins to me. :drive: Choo mother truckin choo!!! And no, I'm not worried about Perine.

Torn on Steele v. Perine. They are kinda the same player in many way, IMO. Perine has the NFL years behind him (for good and bad), while Steele has the Chiefs months.

Either way, both are >>>>>>>>>>>> CEH.

Not me. I'm swinging for the fences, not trying to just make contact. We know what Perine is.

@pgsween of @ArrowheadPride’s take on the KC RB room:

“Isiah Pacheco is the clear No. 1 — and after working on his pass-catching skills this offseason, it’s realistic to think he could stay on the field for all three downs. That being said, UDFA Carson Steele has flashed to the point that he’s become the ‘secret’ everybody knows about, and who I believe will become the go-to for short yardage and touchdowns at the goal line.”

was this before the Perine trade? Cuz I have Steele for dynasty, but not for redraft

if pacheco misses time, Perine will be start-worthy

Steele owner here....but CEH is still listed as the RB2 on the Chief's official depth chart.
(1) "Official depth chart" is sort of an oxymoron.
(2) Carson Steele is still listed first string, just as a FB.
But point (2) being, he's still listed as first string ... just not as RB. Just like the designation TE1 does not indicate that Travis Kelce comes after all the Chiefs WR's, it's a different position. Though, I have been concerned about that designation itself. So long as he's called a FB, does that mean he'll be used like a typical FB (i.e., not used)?

The battle for the number 2 RB in KC will be interesting, especially for Pacheco owners. CEH has proven to be a JAG (maybe generous), Perine is a little better, and might be much better at pass protection. He went 5 years without any fumbles and had 3 last year, losing 2. Carson is the wild card, but likely no better than Perine, TBD. Carson had 3, 3, 2 fumbles in college. Reid is no Belichick about fumbles, but fumbles could derail a backup RB.

I think Perine had fumbling issues in college too didnt he? I may have him mixed up with someone else.

either way, hes brought in to catch passes I suspect. no competition for Steele who is a banger and likely could be a short yardage ace if the team wanted him to be.

That seems like ions ago. He's 28 and was drafted in 2017, so I think we can forget what he did in college.

maybe so, but if it was an issue at one point and re emerges, its a concern.

That's different from putting an emphasis on what he did 8-10 years ago. What has he done since? I have no idea whether it's been an issue as a whole as a pro, but any fumbling issues from 2016 on back is irrelevant IMO.

Samaje Perine

2017: 2 fumbles in about 200 touches
2018-2022: 0 fumbles in about 300 touches
2023: 3 fumbles in about 100 touches

Probably just flukey last year.
Yes, no reason to start construction on that mountain using a molehill as a template.
