If Penny sucks, Carroll and GM are likely all getting fired anyway. They can put Penny in and watch him suck and then get fired for coaching incompetence...probably not an alternative they are willing to consider.

You know Carson has 48 career carries right? I'm not sure they now "exactly what Carson is"There is no way they drafted Penny in the first round to be a backup. They know exactly what Carson is. I’m guessing Proise will take a lot of snaps.
I thought this had been established from the second post of this thread? You know Carson has 48 career carries right? I'm not sure they now "exactly what Carson is"
Have you not followed the Seahawks? There is no way they drafted Penny in the first round to be a backup. They know exactly what Carson is. I’m guessing Proise will take a lot of snaps.
Evidence does not support this statement at this point in time.131 carries is Carson’s career high. He really can’t be counted on to carry the load and stay healthy. He will be a great compliment to Penny with Penny carrying the load.
Possible, but it's highly unlikely you or the other CC lovers on this board know more about him and Penny than their scouts. I'll take Penny in the 2nd half, especially since CC isn't a proven back.msudaisy26 said:Have you not followed the Seahawks?
Carson has played like 5 career games and has 48 carries.
This is a team that traded a for 1st round pick for guys like Percy Harvin and Jimmy Graham only to use them as gadet players or red zone guys and they cut bait. This is a team that paid Matt Flynn a lot of money as a free agent and then gave their 3rd round qb the starting job and Flynn never saw the field.
If it is one thing that you can give Pete Carroll credit for in his time with the Seahawks it is draft position and what you make will not give you a free pass into the starting lineup. He will play the best guy and cut bait when they made the wrong choice on a player.
I don't love Carson, and I have no idea who is going to win. What I was quoting was wrong on all levels. The Seahawks don't know what they have in Carson, he could be a hall of famer or out of the league in 2 years. The Seahawks have consistently let the best guy play and cut bait on anyone else, no matter what they paid and no matter who it is. I expect this to continue whether it is Carson, Penny, or someone else.Possible, but it's highly unlikely you or the other CC lovers on this board know more about him and Penny than their scouts. I'll take Penny in the 2nd half, especially since CC isn't a proven back.

So, what I’m taking from this is that the Seahawks D isn’t the “Legion of Doom” anymore.zeeshan2 said:Gregg Bell@gbellseattle

People who didn't watch him play last year don't realize this. He was running in wide open lanes in a small conference. He's not an ideal NFL between the tackles runner. He's basically a big 3rd down back.I think Carrol likes the intensity Carson brings and his relentlessness between the tackles. Despite Penny's size he's not that type of runner.
It never was....So, what I’m taking from this is that the Seahawks D isn’t the “Legion of Doom” anymore.

He may be the 'star of the offseason' or he may not be, but one thing i've learned is that Carroll saying so has 0% correlation to reality. The Seahawks Wire@TheSeahawksWire
Pete Carroll calls Chris Carson 'the star of the offseason' https://usat.ly/2vPHErD

Chris Carson is a great example of that. He was a seventh-round pick last season, who managed to beat out established veteran backs like Thomas Rawls and Eddie Lacy to be the team’s number one back, until he got hurt in Week 4.
Now, he has even more competition after Seattle used their first-round draft pick on running back Rashaad Penny. But that doesn’t mean Carson is going to accept a role as second fiddle, however.
“He had a phenomenal offseason,” coach Carroll commented Tuesday. “He was really the star of the offseason in that he was just so fit, so strong and so explosive from the moment we got back.”
Carson ran with the first team in Seattle’s scrimmage game on Saturday, catching a pass on a wheel route for a touchdown on the first play of the game. Penny ran with the second team.

And I'm not trying to bash Chris Carson in his thread, but even if he was - is it really that meaningful yet? There hasn't even been one preseason game played. He may be the 'star of the offseason' or he may not be, but one thing i've learned is that Carroll saying so has 0% correlation to reality.
Appearing on NFL Network, Ian Rapoport referred to Chris Carson as the Seahawks' "bellcow" back.
"He's probably going to be their starter," RapSheet reiterated. Rapoport also stated there is some concern Rashaad Penny's hand surgery could cost him 1-2 regular season games. It will certainly limit Penny's ability to practice and improve in pass protection, where he struggled at San Diego State and in Seattle's preseason opener. Carson is shaping up as a viable mid-round RB3/flex.

Just picked him up in my 17 team work league. All aboard!!Chris Carson is going to explode this season. I believe his value will never be lower than it is right now. We saw a glimpse of his potential last season. I think he will climb more spots on the RB rankings board by mid-season than any other RB in the NFL.
Carson at this moment is a POUND the TABLE BUY !!!
I don't know exactly where he's going right now but I'm sure he'll sneak into the 5th or 6th round by the time I'm drafting. Although I'm sure he'll at least be flex worthy, all the reasons I generally want to stay away from SEA this year (especially their run game) didn't magically disappear because Penny broke his finger. The OL blows, the OC blows, the schedule blows, game flow with likely be negative, Penny will be back, Prosise is still alive for the moment. I'll be rooting for him every week that I'm not playing against him though.Wish Penny hadn’t gotten hurt. Think his price will be too high now. A bit of a bummer
Also AIDS. The zombie has full-blown AIDS.Avoiding this backfield like a plague-ridden Lindsey Lohan zombie.
I would say this for the Redskins backfield, but not Seattle.Avoiding this backfield like a plague-ridden Lindsey Lohan zombie.
I like Carson.I would say this for the Redskins backfield, but not Seattle.
Grab Carson, and enjoy.
Chris Carson rushed seven times for 26 yards and one touchdown in the Seahawks' third preseason game against the Vikings.
He added two catches for 20 yards on three targets, making a nifty grab on a 2nd-and-4 to pick up a first down. Carson's touchdown was a six-yard scamper paved by RT Germain Ifedi. With Rashaad Penny (finger) still out and gaining a scary amount of weight -- 16 pounds since the Combine -- Carson has locked up No. 1 back duties in Seattle. His ADP continues to climb, and Carson looks all the way back from last year's injury. He'll start the year as an RB2.

I watched highlights of him running over people and took him in the 7th. I didn't listen to myself but I do believe that since I typed this SEA's OL has impressed me during preseason action. So now there are only 6 red flags instead of 7.I don't know exactly where he's going right now but I'm sure he'll sneak into the 5th or 6th round by the time I'm drafting. Ooof - what an awful draft. Hope you fare better in your other leagues, you’re done in this one.dcgangstas said:In PPR, I would go with AB.
In standard I go RB because I don't want Shady or Jordan Howard as my #1 RB. I took Alvin Kamara at 1.05 because of his explosiveness and he will get more touches in 2018. I took Davante Adams at 2.08, Tyreek Hill at 3.05 and Royce Freeman at 4.08.
Got Ingram later for insurance and as a flex when he returns in Week 5.
LOL, Tommy Blanks.Ooof - what an awful draft. Hope you fare better in your other leagues, you’re done in this one.
That’s insane valueGot him @11.1 as my RB5 yesterday in my 12 team, ppr, super-flex redraft. He was the 43rd RB off the board, Penny went with pick 06.05 as the 23rd RB off the board. I think I got a great value but I can't help but wondering if I missed something.
That's what I thought, maybe the best in my draft. But this is a 20+ year league with most owners here since the begining. I may be the biggest fanatic of magic Football but definitely not the only one. That's why I keep wondering what I am missing. That’s insane value
I drafted Carson 2 rounds after Penny was drafted. I think I got Carson in round 7. I didn't really want him but it felt like a good value pick. That's what I thought, maybe the best in my draft.
