RB Christian McCaffrey, SF (4 Viewers)

and he doesn’t want to say too much and get in trouble
I actually agree with this. Probably because he got skewered by local radio / fans last year when he was Pollyanna about it before being declared inactive.

That said, I won’t trust anything but the game day inactives report. I’m gonna assume that everyone else is either lying or guessing.
Fair and reasonable approach considering how things have gone down there in the past

Also James is as good as OUT but Guerendo is good to go so it's likely a BRob and Guerendo duo this week, and man, what a wild ride it's been the last few weeks for people who own those two.
Just added Guerendo to my stable of CMC and Brian Robinson. Finally!!! My master plan of devoting three roster spots to 49ers RBs has come to fruition!!!
In one 12 team league where I had Mixon, I picked up Pierce off waivers for $22/$500 FAAB, then drafted Woody Marks with a late 3rd round pick. Because like you, I’m a genius.

And then they got Chubb.
:sadbanana:

If B Rob has any life, I see him as full time goal line back for the foreseeable future if not ROS.

Given B Rob's trade, I'd see ironically McCaffery as Atomic Ekeler, enough production to make each other a bit useless.

With 49ers playing at 4 pm on Sunday how many people are benching him becauae their players are playing early?

I am starting Pacheco at my rb1 spot now, moving CMC to my flex and hoping we have more info before Sunday games otherwise I am rolling out Pittman for my 2nd flex.

Once again, I do not agree with a single word of this. No offense.
No one's asking you to, thats my opinion.

But logically, if he went to "5th gear" and this is the result, for a team with playoff aspirations, the answer is going to be to limit his touches.

You could tell me he's back in 4 weeks and they step on the gas and we know how that ends. You're looking at load management here, best case scenario.

10- 12 touches, I'd antipcate

4 rushes... 5 YPC... 20 yards

6-8 catches, maybe 7 YPC... 50 yards on a good day

TD every other game

If 14 points a game excites you out of a 1st rounder, I don't know what to tell you bud.

The amount of victory lapping from people on all players is unbearable right now. It's worse than I can remember. A full slate of football can't come soon enough.
As a 49er fan, the last thing I’ll ever do about one of our best players being hurt is take a “victory lap” - I see all of this as an awful development and I am hoping beyond good reason that this issue is in fact no biggie (as CMC has said)

That said, as a 49er fan, I am also intimately aware of their lack of transparency when it comes to injured players.

But make no mistake - not a single one of my comments on this topic gives me the slightest amount of joy, nor would I consider CMC missing any amount of time a “victory” by any definition of the term.

49ers have one of the weakest schedules in football & a realistic chance at the postseason. Without CMC that hill becomes much more steep to climb.

Hopefully this is all nothing & I’ll be watching him score multiple TDs on Sunday night.

B Rob is a solid RB2 without mcaff

Guerrendo will vulture but not even worth a spot IMO
BRob’s been with the team for a week. Guerendo both knows, and has shown capable output in this scheme.

IMO you’re vastly misreading this scenario.
I think it depends on what timeframe one is talking about. If it’s just this one week or if it’s long-term. Shanahan made it clear he brought Robinson in to be the number two back, he said those literal words. But if we’re talking about just this week due to exactly what hot sauce is saying Guerrero is probably the guy. If it turns into a long-term thing, Robinson is the asset I’d want.

Yeah he kept looking ever yonder to see if people were listening it seemed like.

i think the guy to own this week is Pearsall.

Long term, if something was going to take CMC out fully, I think I'd throw down with Jordan James.

I do think B Rob is underrated a a pass catcher so I'm rooting for him to make the most of this.

Are we now taking Shanahan at his literal words now?

He’s probably the least trustworthy when it comes to coach speak, and I don’t see him tossing Guerendo aside because BRJ is in town. They gave up a 6th round pick for him, not exactly some large investment.

For me it's not so much "Is he going to play Week 1 with this calf injury", it's more that we know he has an issue now and playing in a 100% full contact, full acceleration game situation can't be good for someone with his history. I have this picture in my head of him playing a few plays and limping off the field and then will be questionable the entire season.

First time buyer.

I can't take much more of this rollercoaster.

🔫
Me too but, I'm riveted. It's like a great sitcom with the whole "will they/won't they" aspect. It's one thing when you're on the outside looking in but when you're living it, it's exhilarating. I feels like I might have a shot with Jennifer Aniston. I'll take more of that please.

This is the FF killer. I said it before - in/out, black/white, that’s manageable.

Having him start & leave a game is just crushing. That ambiguity and not being able to trust him is an absolute nightmare for FF.

K Williams owner is nibbling, get me out!
Kyren or Kyle lmao
Oh yeah, that matters.
Like I smash accept for kyren; wouldn’t sell him for Kyle but I’m not sure the actual value at this point isn’t closer there
Unless and until we know CMC is out that would be a massive overreaction.

Kyren is a smash accept.
TBC I’m not saying he’s worth Kyle, I’m saying I probably smash accept for kyren as a mccaffrey owner more enthusiastically than I smash accept for mccaffrey as a Kyle owner

Edit: Kyle went in the 2nd in most leagues afaik, a 2nd was at the low end of the realistic market for him at various points last year, again the value isn’t on par but it’s not as ludicrous as it sounds imo. His value went back up based on relatively little

49ers paying for a RB when all they do is let KS run them into the dirt was about the dumbest trade/move this decade outside of the two terrible QB trades in Denver/Cleveland.
“The San Francisco 49ers made the kind of decision that could set a franchise back for years when they traded three first-round picks to draft Trey Lance third overall in 2021”

Yikes, not sure how that one slipped my mind. Brock Purdy really bailed 'em out huh?

Never have, never will.
No, but the money always speaks. They didn’t pick up his salary as charity.

Wash had to take on a 3rd of his salary as part of the trade. BRob's base is only $2.125M and non-guaranteed, hardly a sizeable commitment. Doesn't mean they don't see him as that #2 RB, but I'd be more confident in your reasoning had they not required Wash to take a chunk of his contract when 49ers have the 3rd most cap space in the league going into the regular season. Granted, they do need to save some $ for next year but BRob is a FA next year too.
