RB Christian McCaffrey, SF (3 Viewers)

CMC might be limited by a stinky 49ers O
Or get fed every week from every way.

He's not going to last long getting 35 touches a game...few rbs would

And no tds doesn't exactly made him rb1
He's RB2 for this week right now without a TD.

Also, Seattle has a really good young defense. This might have been the toughest matchup on the schedule for CMC.

I think Kittle getting hurt changed the gameplan a lot today, as well as the overall efficacy of the offense. It led to more touches for CMC, but also more attention. After his outing today, teams may want to pay more attention to Pearsall.

Shanahan is an idiot.

He has the best player on his offense, the only guy who gives them a shot at relevance on pace for 527 touches.

This guy is supposed to be some kind of offensive mastermind? Does he know the season lasts longer than one game?

It was an important road division game, where I'm sure Kittle and Jennings leaving the game altered how much CMC was used.

I'd be willing to bet he won't have 30 touches against New Orleans next week.

really not sure what you're getting at here? Did you play against him this week or something?

He’s gonna fall apart at the pace he’s on and the lack of firepower around him … that burst he gained from the defensive player hitting him was pretty nice today

I think the game plan was to mix in Robinson to give CMC some rest but Seattle did a good job against the run and the Niners lost two of their best pass catchers to injury. The game plan changed and they needed McCaffrey to be in there more. Next week should be an easy win over New Orleans and they can use Robinson more when ahead.

He went from full, to limited, to DNP.

That’s a pattern that is 100% not playing. Guy can’t make it to the season opener. He’s toast. I’m taking anything I can get for him.

Were you able to trade him?

What are people seeing as his value today?
I was given such terrible offers, I just held. Clearly the smart play, for now.

He can’t handle a 30+ touch workload though, we all know this. Hoping for another good week and then I think some real offers will be available.

They had a tough road game in Seattle where they lost Kittle and Jennings. He should be more in the 20-25 range in games against bad teams and Kittle/Jennings play. I love 30 plus touches for fantasy but don’t want him to wear down either.

No. I roster him, actually.

I think my post is clear.

Did he look slow to anyone else? Or was it mostly just the line being bad and not giving him much to work with?

Still did great, especially if not at 100% due to the leg thing. Kinda with Chaka that I don't think projecting every week usage at this weeks level will bode well for his longevity, but people who drafted him with confidence this summer were certainly rewarded week 1. He just didn't look like a healthy CMC to me. The most explosive play IMO was when he got the power boost from a player running into his back haha.

I casually watched the game and missed big blocks of it.

I saw CMC running into a stacked box on short yardage downs multiple times.

Slow? Not sure. But when you’re getting hit in the backfield or maybe at the line of scrimmage I don’t think you’re at full speed.

He looked good especially catching the ball. Seattle game planned to take him away running the ball.

Pleased with the outcome, but bracing for the inevitable. Assuming Robinson is rostered, who do you want as your CMC backup in a ppr league--Guerendo or Jordan James?

Interesting week with CMC.

1) This time last week. No concern. Choo Choo...let's ride.
2) Thursday brings a level of doom and gloom hysteria or a 'limited - calf' practice designation
3) 3 days later 31 touches, an amount exceeded 10 times all of 2024
4) Lots of concern over if he can hold up.

...let's say Thursday doesn't happen. What would the mood here be?

He won’t practice much at all this week (rest) sparking concern that he’s banged up.

I think I would feel the same. I want to see a lot more workload management and give Robinson more opportunity to get comfortable in the offense. Robinson can be a high quality backup/relief option for CMC. I think concerns about his receiving are overblown, at least if you look at the stat sheet over the last two seasons.

This is my first time rostering CMC, I would like to see him still available in week 17.

I think Robinson is next man up no matter what. Maybe some "real football people" can explain to me why Robinson has a reputation for not being a good option in the passing game because it doesn't show up in the stat sheet. In 2023 & 2024 he caught 56 of 68 passes (82%) and averaged 9.4 per reception. He can't be that much of a concern as a three down guy, can he? Certainly much better than Mason was.

So...I'm pretty sure CMC won't have 527 touches this season. At the same, he played 58 of the 76 snaps; a 76.3% snap share. In 2023, in the regular season, he had an 86.8% snap share.

I was a little surprised CMC had so many touches, because watching the game without having the stats in front of my face, I thought it seemed like he was being subbed out more than usual.

CMC played 58 snaps (76%) and B.Robinson played 18 (24%). They were the only RBs to see action. It does seem like a reasonable split. McCaffrey saw an opportunity on 53% of his snaps and Robinson on 61%.

Again, very reasonable splits.

I don't think people realize yet that Seattle is a top-5 NFL defense. Mike McDonald has absolutely been as advertised on that side of the ball.

ETA: Also, it was a weird week for RB efficiency. Henry and I guess Achane, were the only RBs taken in the 1st 2 rounds of fantasy drafts who topped 4 yards per carry.

Cries reading this stat as a Barkley, Henry, Achane owner, who’s still going to lose tonight unless Chicago falls into Lake Michigan.

Not to hijack the thread, but agree 100% on SEA's defense.

I should pick up SEA D in Fantasy then? I had 49ers based on easiest schedule.

I don't recall much buzz on SEA D in the DST Committee chat.

I have two shares of him (grabbed him late first in a redraft and fourth overall in a restricted keeper league - took him over Hampton) and my opinion of his value hasn't changed at all. I still view him as a second tier RB1 and late first/early second value in most formats.

So, yeah, content would be the mood.

Who do you have rated above him RB wise?

Assuming .5 ppr?

Bijan, Saquon, and Gibbs for sure (they're my top tier). I had CMC over Henry though could see an argument for Henry now. .

I had CMC and Jeanty similarly valued if that is helpful.

In short, I have:

Tier one: Bijan, Saquon, Gibbs (that's my order, but could see an argument for a different order)
Tier two: CMC, Henry, Jeanty (again, I could see any order here)
Tier three: Achane, Taylor, Chase Brown, Jacobs in some order (though I do have Achane top of the tier)

Week one didn't change this for me at all except I may take Henry over CMC now but they remain in the same tier.

The offers I got were awful. Someone seriously offered me Ekeler and Tillman for him.
