RB De’Von Achane, MIA (1 Viewer)

no one this small and light has ever lasted with a large workload at RB so in the leagues where I drafted Achane just made sure to get Wright since it's not IF it's when Achane gets dinged up.

Warrick Dunn had over 3000 career touches, and he was smaller than Achane.
I made a comparison between Dunn and Achane last year when Achance was drafted and deemed light or small to play in the NFL
Dunn had B2B seasons with over 280 carries after he hit 30 which is insane.
He played until he was 33, was with the Bucs but went to Atlanta the off season prior to Gruden and the Bucs winning the Super Bowl

One more tidbit, he's a 1% owner of the Falcons, he did it the year after he retired, bought a piece of them for $9M and now it's worth over $50M

Not true, but that is fine if you believe it. Kamara and Achane were the same size coming out of college but why ruin a good post? There are more but you said so it must be true.

If you personally own Achane you can trade him away so you don't have to worry about this anymore.

As a sidebar, thats f'ing sensational, good for Warrick.

Achane (and Mostert) both DNPs today. Short week with Thursday game.
Not surprised they are getting rest in a short week. Having said that both could miss the game. I'm picking up Wilson in all leagues I can just in case.

Wouldn't be surprised if its a share with Wilson and Wright if the two starters can't go.

Miami probably wishing they kept Brooks. Wonder if they try to steal Brooks off GB practice roster or if that ship sailed.

If neither play, my opinion is Wright is the starter and Wilson plays backup and special teams.

That being said, pretty sure one or both of these guys are suiting up.

I think Wilson would be the lead back. Having said that Wright could have more upside and potentially do more with his touches. Would I feel comfortable starting Wright? No, unless I'm desperate. I'd rathe wait and see it first. Wilson has had the starting role before. Wilson in 2022 also had 9 games I believe where he had at or above 60% snap share so he has done it before.

I really like Wright but he's still 4th on the depth chart. Can i change? yes but let's see where Achane and Mostert are at before announcing Wright the guy.

At least the Dolphins play on TNF and not MNF. It sure would suck keeping Achane in until Monday, having everyone else play, then find out he is out (Similarly to CMC this week).

You'd expect a smaller dude to have more upper body injuries. Shoulders. Chest. Ribs. Head. Etc. That's not happening here. Achane is always getting tackled from behind because he's so fast and elusive. Guys are constantly falling on his legs and ankles which is leading to the lower leg dings. I'm not saying this to say he is or is not injury prone, it's just what I see happening. I'm not sure if there's anything he could do to change to potentially stop this from happening, before, during or after the tackle. It's a weird situation and not normal simply because of how fast and elusive he is. Still, the same thing keeps happening so hopefully someone in the building is seeing what I'm seeing and trying to address.

Dolphins rookie RB Jaylen Wright told me, on De'Von Achane and Raheem Mostert: “They may be a little banged up, but I still expect them to play... My main thing is, I just got to be ready for that time. Whenever that time is to come, it’s my opportunity.”
That's interesting that Wright thinks they'll both play.

I think they both will too. I don't see the point in resting either of them, as long as they are able, this is one of the most (if not the most) important games they have all season, they NEED to beat Buffalo. They are 1-11 in their last 12 against the Bills, and that's a game that decides tiebreakers often, and maybe the division.

ETA: Get 10 days to rest afterward.

Yep. Rest, and while the Seahawks aren’t easy, the 🐬 really should win the next 3 games even without overly relying on these two.

Sounds like Mostert is not playing, so Achane could be anything from not playing, to playing more. Its a really good matchup for him in my opinion, as the Bills are a slower defense, with holes in the LB/S area.

Wilson will likely get a good bit of the grinding work and Achane can play his normal role. If Achane continues to get 5+ targets (7 last game) it will be great news for him. The short week is not good but he practiced today which is a fantastic sign and he didn't seem limited. See what comes of the reports today.

Cameron Wolfe
De’Von Achane practiced today in what appeared to be a lighter walkthrough session.

Watched him go thru all RB drills & reps including changing direction/catching passes on his ankle. No red jersey or clear visual limitations from media viewing.

This is what Achane Owners dream of. Mostert out, looks to be healthy, against a slower/older D in a primetime game which should be extremely highscoring.

Please, please, please don't get dinged up.

Don't get your hopes up. He's not a bell cow and he's already dinged up. They have 2 Mostert-level replacements ready to go.

Not at all. I'd feel a heck of a lot better if his health wasn't (already) in question.

I believe that is something you're going to have to live with or trade him.

I got a feeling Jeff Wilson is going to play a lot more than expected even if Achane is a full go. Don't forget Miami is still missing 3 WRs and Achane spent a decent amount of plays split wide last week.

I have the same feeling, use Wilson as your volume inside the tackle guy and Achane as your "Deebo Samuel" role where he lines up more as 3 WR than in the backfield. There is so much attention you have to pay to Waddle, Hill and Achane that I think it will open up Wilson. It is a long season but I am expecting Wright to play as well. I am also expecting Wilson to get goalline carries.

I wish people wouldn't say things in absolutes "he's not a bell cow". What does that even mean anymore? Here we are year 2 and the coaches are literally saying they need to get Achane more touches. They gave him 17 touches last game. Coaches continue to show it with his usage. They literally said it and gave him the touches. He produced in fantasy. This isn't changing. He unfortunately got his leg rolled-up but seems to be fine, they are just resting him as Mostert is out.

If he gets 15-20 touches a game he's going to crush fantasy.

But he's not a bell cow.... do I really care what he's called if he's putting up 20 burgers? Kid is talented and the coaches are doing everything to give him touches. QB loves him.

Don't be so defensive about Achane and look at the context of my reply. It was to someone saying this was a dream scenario because Mostert was out and hoping Achane doesn't get dinged. I don't think it's a dream scenario at all. If you think he's getting 15-20 touches a game, that's you. I don't. Doesn't mean he won't have a decent season, but he'll definitley be up and down and I don't think they want to increase his workload with him being dinged and having two other capable backs this week.

I know what you posted. I read it. I will leave it at that. You don't like Achane and that is fine. You don't have to own him.

Its really wild to me, how strongly people feel that Achane can't do this or that, as if his career is written already. The guy's played 10 games and exceeded 15 touches in 4 of them. His last 3 games have been 18-11-17. In every single one of those games where he exceeded 15 touches, he also exceeded 100 yards and had at least 1 TD.

I knew what I signed up for. My point is that his current status is far from "what Achane Owners dream of".

A lot of people are saying if he's playing that you have to start him, but I think it's complex than that.

It's very possible Achane plays but Wilson carries the load, for example. So then Achane still has value because he's so explosive, but he's not a must start.

In those circumstances, I think you would:

* Start a pretty good back instead of Achane
* Start Achane over a pretty weak back
* The dilemma would be whether to go with Achane over an OK back... for example, Henry or Zeus

Purely selfishly since he's on my team, if he's close but not quite there, i'd much rather they gave him 10 days rest and have him come back next game at 100%. Not as simple as that though in NFL terms.

This is correct I think. I have Ford/Dobbins to sub in one league, but Warren/Dowdle/Jaleel/Wright in another. But it’s so tempting to just start Achane anyway since he can explode. But it’s a sprained ankle. I wish they’d just rule him out.

They would rest him if it was patriots but alas
If he's "fine" they won't rest him. Why would the rest him if he can play?

Now whether we trust the coaches to be honest - I can't answer that. If he plays I assume he's healthy enough to go. If it is a low ankle sprain no worries - tape it up and gtg. Someone said high ankle but I have not seen that posted. If it was high ankle I don't think he would be out there.
