RB James Robinson, NE (1 Viewer)

Another late round steal! Congrats to those that dared to dream!

After 2 weeks, the drafters that went RB hero or even all late RB’s are likely sitting atop some of your leagues. We’ll see if that momentum continues over the rest of the season or not. Stay tuned!

What are the odds that Robinson ends up on a different team next year? I think he's a restricted free agent right? I don't really know how often RFA's end up staying or leaving.

James Robinson rushed 17 times for 100 yards and a touchdown in the Jaguars' Week 3 win over the Chargers, adding three catches for 16 yards.

Robinson's day was made by a 50-yard rushing touchdown on a fourth-and-one from midfield. He got the start over Travis Etienne and had a strong lead over him until the final drive when Etienne cleaned things up versus a battered LA defensive line. Etienne ended the day with 13 carries for 45 yards. Robinson is the top back in this committee and is trusted on passing downs, giving him a strong shot at returning RB2 numbers any given week. He will look to repeat the performance when he faces the Eagles next week.

Good lord. Defying the odds- as we should’ve expected from this UDFA. Jax will definitely resign him as the heart and soul of this team next year if health permits. Something like 2-3 years 7m a season. They should do it while they have Lawrence under 3 years team contract

James Robinson has been nothing short of spectacular to begin the 2022 year. Travis Etienne looks good being groomed into the offense as a solid player in his own right. Seems like the coaching staff is aware of his potential talents. This week the JAG RB's get a strong PHI D. My debate like last week is who gets the nod in the Flex spot for week 4 - J Robinson or AJ Dillon. Last week I chose Dillon and it was Robinson with the big game. Both look like back end RB #2's this week.

Forget the YPC, follow the volume. That's what Robinson is getting. The coaching staff thinks he's a better back right now. Like Chaka notes, that could change, but people that manage Robinson must be really happy with their selection.
It's frustrating because I'm struggling getting him into my lineup every week.

What's interesting to me about him is in the WDIS thread I don't think I have seen anyone ask if they should start him this week after he had been a fixture there over the last two weeks. I wonder if he has become an auto-start guy like Christian Kirk or if people are simply avoiding the Phili D.

I see you're thinking. Modesty suits everybody, including you. But I simply mean that if you're struggling to get Robinson in the lineup, you must have some darn good other options. And from the looks of the other thread, you do.

I'm in the same boat. I have yet to play Robinson. Other RB's even though I just lost Swift are: Chubb, K Herbert, AJ Dillon, Pierce, and J Robinson. It's a toss up for Flex between Dillon and Robinson.

I broached the subject again in the WDIS thread. Javonte, Jamaal Williams & Khalil Herbert. All four in line for ~20 opportunities.

What's a guy to do?

Start Jamaal - best matchup.

Has to be this. Philly isn't even that good against the run, actually. 25th in rushing DVOA.
It’s weird - this is true. But while they “struggle” against the run, they’ve been so good against the pass that it forces a lot of turnovers and 3 & outs.

So yeah - a RB might average 5 YPC against them, but on limited opportunities & in low value situations.

Statistics aren’t always the best measure of performance for or against a given position by a given team. I believe this is one of those anomalies.

James Robinson failed to catch his lone target in the Jaguars’ Week 7 loss to the Giants.

In a shocker, Robinson was used strictly to spell Travis Etienne whenever he was done making a good run. It took several series for Robinson to get his first snap. It seems he’s become an after thought in an offense that was never in a negative game script. This should be worrisome for those who were relying on Robinson as a fantasy starter. He’s not worthy of a flex if this usage continues.

Truly mind-bending usage. I get they want to use more Etienne, but to completely phase out Robinson was ludicrous. They both have roles on the team... the whole thing was if Jags are ahead, usually theyuse Robinson more: He'll keep the chains moving and get the extra tough yards/is reliable with the ball (this is where Etienne could have had more snaps). If behind, use Etienne more; He's the more explosive player who can get you back in the game. To not give Robinson any carries felt like Pederson played himself today, especially after the fumble and Etienne bad drop.

JJ Zachariason @LateRoundQB

Travis Etienne played a season high 81.5% of Jacksonville's snaps today. His previous high was a little over 53%. James Robinson didn't see a single carry, and he ran just four routes. There have been reports that Doug Pederson said that Robinson might not be 100% right now.
Well that makes more sense but I dunno how banged up he was that he didn't just sit.

Sounds like the sort of thing that he could play through if called upon, but they would prefer to rest him if possible. I have no clue who the RB3 in Jacksonville is in terms of whether a banged up Robinson is better or not, and while they (particularly Etienne) were playing effectively, there's no need to give Robinson more snaps than needed. Sucks for his owners who were forced to start him, personally happy to have got out in late September at what looks like peak dynasty value

Most likely Hasty, but also have to keep an eye on Snoop (there it is) Conner.

I had Hall, Carter, and Etienne in my biggest money league. Not sure how I feel about this trade. I think it hurts Carter more than it helps Etienne.

Trades. Who knew. Not sure how those Jets touches are going to work out. Could be essentially a straight depth move given that NY would seem to have aspirations beyond being a plucky underdog and they rely on running

Jets backfield will be just what it was the first month of the season. Just about a 50/50 split.

As many learned yesterday with Pacheco, "starting" doesn't actually mean anything anymore. They're getting near equal touches.

Carter is not a workhorse, so Robinson is a nice complementary power back. I imagine the workload will be split reasonably evenly, tipping more based on game script.

Funny, same for a dynasty team. I love the trade. It clears the runway for ETN to finish this season ranked as high as the overall RB1 in dynasty. Carter isnt ever going to be a 25 touch guy. He needs a backfield mate. Robinson isn't so good that he 's going to keep Carter off the field but he should be good enough to provide some plays for that offense. At the end of the year, Robinson is a free agent and moves on.
