RB Jaylen Wright, MIA (3 Viewers)

If Miami doesn't get good QB play none of these guys are startable.

If Tua is back and Mostert and Wilson are still out maybe Wright has some upside as a compliment to Achane. Talent is there, the situation is not good right now though.

Achane still the lead back as it stands now with injuries to Mostert.

Such a tough hold right now. His upside is so much higher than the replacement options out there. But as a RB needy owner who won’t keep Wright next year, and can’t get anything of value for him in a trade right now, tough to keep holding.

In a redraft, you hope there's a way a guy is a league winner. In his case, I think that would take Tua coming back and staying healthy, and in injury to at least one guy, and preferably Achane.

There's three guys in front of him.

Yeah, this very much reminds me of Mason two years ago. I'm a redraft player but based on the SP I have rostered Mason every year. Totally worth it.

I feel, from a redraft perspective his only true value is probably to an Achane manager this year.

With Mostert and Wilson on the roster, Wright's path to relevance in 2024 is cloudy at best.

There's three guys in front of him.
I think only two, and I know Wilson was banged up but my expectation going forward is he passed him.

I'm holding everywhere.
Because...?
Well let me put it this way, he already passed him.

That was pretty clear in week 3.
Was it? It was certainly close but Wilson out snapped Wright 14-13 and had more opportunities 3-2. Neither had a target.

Seems like even if Mostert & Achane are out the most we can hope for in 2024 is a full blown time share.

He started the game, and when a rookie is already matching a vet in week 3 he's usually pulling away.

I do not think it would be a timeshare if Mostert and Achane or out with the caveat almost everything is a little timeshare but Wright would look like the clear cut guy. And I'll say what I said before the season, when Tua returns and the offense comes to life, I think he'll just need an injury to one of them to have tangible fantasy value, as in valid starting lineup option stuff.

This.

I currently don't feel like you can play anyone from Miami. Hill and Waddle aren't doing much. Achane was rough this past week. Huntley felt like our hope for the offense and he flopped.

Unless your bench is super deep, it's hard to roster the 3rd or 4th Miami Running back hoping Tua comes back and the right guys are injured/ineffective.

As it relates to 2024 even if you're right it feels like an injury to Achane is absolutely necessary for Wright to be relevant. And even if that happens he will, at best be in a timeshare with Mostert.

Even if both Mostert and Achane are out, what is the distribution? Chase Brown & Zack Moss?

And all of this depends on Tua coming back and staying healthy.
He feels droppable in redraft.

Some things take a little vision to see how it can go and you are making some assumptions and have some concerns I'm not in lock sync with you or on but you do what's best for you.

I'll just add I"m looking at almost all of my leagues from prism of 12 teams, 20 man rosters. This makes up all my redraft leagues except one that's not like the others, my one local league. It's 10 teams with 16 roster size. I cut him about 2 weeks ago in that league.

You'd be hard pressed to find someone who cut him in the leagues I mainly play, the 12/20 sized leagues which are the national contest. No one has cut in him any league I'm in and there are about 20 of those I don't own him. Heading into waivers tonight it's showing that he is rostered in 98.5% of the leagues.

The context does help when it’s 12 team and 20 man. I can understand him being rostered as one of the top 200, but right now in a start 8 or 9 league with 5 bench spots, he’s a very tough sell.

Definitely league/size dependant.

The other thing that is a big issue this year is injuries. Depending on IR spots it might not be feasible to keep someone not giving you any points. Bye weeks are on us and if you don't have the luxury of keeping a back-up RB then that is how things go.

Deep leagues he's worth a stash as he is starting to see some play time. Like I mentioned before though, if they don't get better QB play this offense isn't scoring.

Own Achane and Wright in dynasty. I wanted it to be different and it’s hard to admit as an Achane backer, but Wright just looks better suited for the NFL. He looked good today against a team selling out to stop the run. He ran with power and speed. Achane could certainly be the Robin to his Batman, but I’m starting to believe Achane needs a coach like Payton to unlock his full potential. I’m not sure WTH McDaniel was thinking the last three weeks pounding Achane like he’s Derek Henry, but it was like he was TRYING to get Achane dinged. I’m glad I bit the bullet and acquired Wright when he was relatively cheap.

Wright had 3 snaps on Sunday (5%), Mostert had 30 (46) & Achane 38 (58%).

It won't take much of an increase for McDaniel to be telling the truth and for Wright to still provide no value this season.

His value is Achane going down. Outside of that not much.

Next year Mostert is most likely gone or fully replaced by Wright imo, I think Wright and Achane have a chance to be very valuable for FF if the QB situation is stable.

Wright has looked better running the ball than Mostert from what I've seen this season, a great compliment to Achane. Mostert may finally be slowing down. Wright has impressed me with his ability to run with quickness and power. Still, Mostert undoubtedly has a better grasp of the offense and pass protections which will prevent Wright from usurping him altogether barring another injury.

I see it this way as well. There have been a few situations in recent memory where 2 running backs from the same team have provided RB1 production over the course of a season. Miami can certainly be that next season with Wright and Achane. It's hard to put all your eggs in the Tua basket though. I hope they're smart enough to bring in a viable replacement next season.

Mostert has played solid but I'm thankful for whatever reporter asked McDaniel if playing time was a meritocracy and referenced the yards per rush of Wright vs Mostert. Some coaches make knee jerk reactions to public criticism, at least gets in their head.

Or Mostert.

It will always be a shared backfield but yes Achane is the lead right now. Wright could get more touches if/when Mostert isn't there.

The bolded is pretty important IMO. While we're looking at fantasy stats, the Dolphins are more concerned about protecting Tua from further damage - have to think that Mostert is the best option for them in that regard. That alone is going to keep him on the field quite a bit.

To be fair to Wright, we have no idea what he's showing in practice. He might be closer to Mostert in protections than his current usage may lead us to believe. I probably should have added this qualifier to my original post.

I've posted this a lot recently, but things change fast in the NFL.

Agreed - just speculating that McDaniel would be more comfortable going with a seasoned vet he knows to protect Tua, but we don't know if Wright is also a very capable protector.

Yup, just ask Devin Singletary.

This week I grabbed the backups, Wright and Corum. Seeing if one pays off before year end.
i think both will hit at some point. Given Kyren’s injury history/heavy workload, I’m confident in Corem
I have Corum and want Wright so badly but can't find a way to squeeze him on my roster.
Wright being on waivers is crazy unless your benches are super short.
12 man league. 9 starter, bench is six spots.....is that considered to be short?

He was on waivers since week 3 in mine. 12 team. 17 player rosters. Start 10

Basically 15 x 12 = 180 rusted players. Do you have kicker and defense?

The chance that he is at some point makes Wright worth having imo. I drafted Achane in the 3rd and Wright in the 12th. I’ll be holding.

Achane down too score 30.

Does he finally get a shot this week with Mostert out?
Mostert gets 3-5 touches/game for the most part so, unless it's a blowout, which is certainly possible, probably not.

Certainly not enough to consider putting him in your lineup, unless you're incredibly desperate.

I agree. Probably not enough work, even with Mostert out, to justify starting him unless bye week blues or decimated by injuries.

I jumped up to get this guy in redraft... felt really good when I got him and home league gave that collective moan when I put his name on the board...

He has sat on my bench every week this year. So disappointing. Don't even want to look at the league draft results that round to see what players I skipped on to take him.

No Sauce, so this could be a big day for Hill or Waddle. Maybe MIA gets a lead and Wright gets 10 carries.

Miami should play Wright to see what they have, as they spent their 2025 3rd to get him. I think he's good and a nice compliment to Achane going forward. Wilson is active, so he might get some action too. There was talk of using Huntley in short yardage, since Miami has been terrible this year on 3rd/4th and 1. As long as Miami has a mathematical chance for the playoffs, Wright is a risky start.
