any word on activation this week?
The Carolina Panthers have until 4 p.m. ET on Wednesday to move the rookie running back to the 53-man roster. If they decide not to activate Brooks, who is working his way back from a torn ACL he sustained last November, his campaign will officially be over.
unless someone throws decent money at Hubbard (doubt it but you never know) I'd expect him to be back next year. He played well and the staff seems to like him. Teams need more than 1 RB especially when Brooks has proven nothing yet.If Carolina doesn't see what they have in Brooks this year, then they're bringing Hubbard back next season. Chuba is a nice RB, but he's going to have a limited market. The Panthers will be able to retain him pretty easily if they want him. That's going to really put a cap on Brooks' potential production.
If the issue is still medical, that's a whole different ballgame.
The Cowboys need a running back and love spending money at the position. I think their season is done. Maybe they draft a high RB. Less likely I see is signing an expensive one but maybe if they miss out in the draft. The Cowboys need a running back and love spending money at the position. Canales just said he's indeed being activated - may not play this weekend though. There's no way they don't activate him.
And the coach just said they will lol. There's no way they don't activate him.

I could see Dallas being interested, but they're much more likely to take one in the draft. Chuba isn't quite at the level where he can command a big payday (or big for a RB). The strong '25 RB class also hurts his chances. The Cowboys need a running back and love spending money at the position. (dynastyleaguefootball) The Panthers have signed running back Chuba Hubbard to a four-year contract extension. Analysis: This is sneaky big news in dynasty leagues as most expected Hubbard to move on in free agency, leaving the backfield duties to Brooks. Instead, it seems the Panthers are more than happy having two capable running backs to split carries instead of having a true bell cow. Brooks' dynasty value is going to take a hit now as it seems he's not going to have the workload many of us expected. This is major news in dynasty leagues and is going to have long-term ramifications. |
……or the better play is not push I’m in a lost season. Either way, Hubbard isn’t going anywhere after just signing an extension.I don’t know many FA adds that would add as much late season value as Brooks. It’s possible that Kanales needs to see what he has in Brooks since their season is already over.
I did…had to make the move and didn’t feel good dropping anyone else and he is depth behind Conner, Walker III, J Taylor, Tracy Jr and Bucky Irving.Droppable in redraft? Gross that I kept him on IR this long to drop him but if he’s not going to be a thing this year I’d rather clear space for other lottery tickets or bye week filler.
No shares, but here is wishing him good health."Will debut vs the Chiefs this week" per Canales
Way to set him up for success there, Dave"Will debut vs the Chiefs this week" per Canales
It's certainly a yearly option contract after 2025, but they save not even $2MM cutting Hubbard in 2026 and it's not a sizeable salary in the first place as you mentioned. Waiting 2 years is an eternity in fantasy football for a 2nd round RB, and it may very well be after year 3 for Brooks before Chubba is gone. Have to hope Brooks comes in healthy next year and is too good to keep on the bench to get any meaningful chance at seizing the job.I'm stashing in dynasty where cheap. Hubbard's deal is only one year hard commit, he's a pretty easy cut each year after that and this isn't exactly wedding bells money anyway. The contract is backloaded with salaries of $3.9M, $4.5M, $7.1M, and $8.9M so this looks to me like a "thanks for the fish" contract rewarding him for his production so far since teams have minimum spending they must reach. There's no comprehensive info out there but CAR hasn't had anyone worth writing checks to lately so I would tend to believe they are on the low side of the spending floor requirement.
All depends on the league. I'm a talent-first guy and I am all in on Brooks. He was phenomenal before the knee and he could easily come in and take primary snaps. Look what Achane does on a true split and Dobbins is only averaging 17.5 touches per game. Not to mention any injury at all to Chuba turns him to solid gold. I'm obviously taking cost into account here, I'm not giving up a 1st rounder for Brooks, but I'm certainly looking to acquire him from owners that are frustrated with holding him.Waiting 2 years is an eternity in fantasy football for a 2nd round RB, and it may very well be after year 3 for Brooks before Chubba is gone. WooHoo!Finally on the field!
2 carries for 7 yards…….

Redraft I’d grab Edwards for Brooks in a heartbeatBeen holding this guy all season but now someone cut Gus Edwards who "should" be the lead back now that Dobbins hit the IR.
Are we still holding Brooks or would y'all cut him for someone like Edwards?
I dropped Brooks this week to grab Edwards. My expectations are super low. Redraft.Been holding this guy all season but now someone cut Gus Edwards who "should" be the lead back now that Dobbins hit the IR.

I dropped Brooks last week. To me he's just a handcuff to Hubbard at this point. Gus should be the primary back for the Chargers.Been holding this guy all season but now someone cut Gus Edwards who "should" be the lead back now that Dobbins hit the IR.

Could be, though for anyone who cares, it looks like the left knee which is not the one he tore in collegeJust went down on a non contact injury looked like an ACL.
Welcome to my personal Mt Rushmore of roster clogs

Can’t for the life of me understand why this craptastic team would rush Brooks back like this. Playing for nothing. What a waste.
