He looks nothing like Witten out of the backfield. Witten has good hands and runs decent routes but he will not make anyone miss and doesn't punish defenders. Bell does both of those things
Cole Beasley IMOChaka said:Is it Witten or Dez Bryant? And is a beast in all facets of the pass game. Looks like a Witten-type coming out of the backfield.Chaka said:Gotta say that he looked very good again last night. He made people miss in tight spaces, showed speed to get outside and punished people at the end of runs.
You people need to make up your minds.
No one will sell him short of high first round value after these first two weeks. As a Spartan fan I have always liked this guy but this year he has looked sick running the ball. He may worth buying now at med/high level as he turns into a top 5 pick soon.

Le'Veon Bell - RB - Steelers
Le'Veon Bell rushed 21 times for 147 yards in Sunday night's win over the Panthers.
He added two catches for 10 yards. Bell's highlight of the night was an 81-yard run in the third quarter. He was held out of the end-zone for the second straight week, but continues to look like one of the league's most complete backs. Bell has 461 total yards heading into Week 4 against the Bucs. He's locked in as a matchup-proof RB1.

I own him in one league and would have a pretty hard time selling.I know now isn't necessarily the best time to go buying him, but in dynasty, I could easily see him being the #1 RB soon. He looks the part of a guy that isn't going away and he's 22. I'm going to see what it costs to get him in my dynasty leagues.
Dynasty Bell owner here: My standard answer is 'you don't have enough'.I know now isn't necessarily the best time to go buying him, but in dynasty, I could easily see him being the #1 RB soon. NICE CALL BRONCO BILLY...PLODDER AND NOT SPECIAL - HUH, YOU DONT SAY..........To each their own I guess. I've seen plenty of Bell in college and now the NFL. Special is not an adjective that I would use the describe his ability. And again, comparing how RBs perform against NFL Ds seems like a reasonable method to gage their relative abilities, but if you don't believe so then I'm not sure we're going to ever agree. I don't care how great a guy looks, I care about production. Blount has done it with multiple teams even when he started the season as an after thought. Bell was not productive and could not generate running room on his own from what I've seen. If you want to simply dismiss that based upon how they look in practice it's your prerogative.I don't have an issue with your projections, only how you compared the two players. You could give Bell a 20% increase but it wouldn't change your tone in contrasting these two running backs. A veteran who has played behind much better offensive lines should have a higher ypc than a rookie. There's better ways to compare players, especially when one of them only has 1 season of numbers for use. Why? How would you compare their running abilities if not by using what they have done to date in their NFL careers? And please take note that I gave Bell a 10% increase in his production on the ground, as well adding an increase over the average numbers of carries for PIT, and gave the top two RBs a generous portion. I thought I was being pretty optimistic given that.Bell would not set a precedent if he improved his rookie efficiency. Isn't a little unfair to compare Bell's rookie ypc to the veteran Blount's?What makes Bell special? His 3.5 ypc last year?
The top 3 RBs in PIT accumulated 341, 317, and 369 carries the past 3 seasons. Let's put the average at 342 and then let's be optimistic and bump that up by say 5% to 360. Then let's say that the top 2 RBs get 90% of that work - that's 324 carries between Bell and Blount.
If Blount gets even 7 carries per game, that's 112 carries, leaving 212 for Bell. Even if Bell is 10% more productive on the ground than last year, that's just over 800 yds rushing - and that's being optimistic.
So yeah, it does make a difference. Blount is a guy with a career 4.7 ypc and in his worst year was still 0.2 ypc better than Bell's ypc last year - and that's for a RB who does almost nothing to make the D respect a threat from him in the passing game. He's hit 5.0 ypc twice in his career, both with over 150 carries.
You think PIT won't use Blount to run the football part time if he proves to be more effective on the ground than the plodding Bell?
Is that not enough in your opinion?
I went to the joint practice on Wednesday between the Bills and Steelers, paying particular attention to the backs. I don't call myself a professional scout, but I could at least see that Bell has better burst and speed. Certainly Blount has many other attributes contributing to his ability, but I definitely question you at labeling Bell a 'plodder' in this conversation. Each of these runners has their own abilities, but if either one of them is a 'plodder', it's Blount.
Those guys were not wrong about last year. He looked totally different when he had that extra weight on.PLODDER AND NOT SPECIAL - HUH, YOU DONT SAY..........

That 20 lb weight loss looks like it is making a huge difference. This is a completely different RB than we saw last year and in his career at Mich St. Still early - I remember eating crow on being down on Josh McDaniels as a HC and publicly owning it after he started 6-0 with DEN, and we all saw how that turned out. But right now Bell looks great and if he continues is a top RB.Even a blind squirrel finds a nut sometimes.Cloppbeast did - read his comments below that disagree with Bronco Billy...I went to the joint practice on Wednesday between the Bills and Steelers, paying particular attention to the backs. I would like to hear from Bronco Billy on this thread, though.
But right now Bell looks great and if he continues as a top RB.

I read an article, probably Faust posted in this thread, about Tomlin telling Bell he'd need to lose some weight before the Steelers even drafted him. It looks to be paying off big time, as he hasn't lost any power but has gained a lot in acceleration. That 20 lb weight loss looks like it is making a huge difference.
Yeah. I traded Charles for a few rookie picks last year, when I knew I'd get Bell with one of them. I regretted that trade a bit after seeing Charles last year, but that time has passed. Don't think there's much that I'd trade for him now.Dynasty Bell owner here: My standard answer is 'you don't have enough'.I know now isn't necessarily the best time to go buying him, but in dynasty, I could easily see him being the #1 RB soon. People keep saying that Bell looks like a completely different back. He doesn't. He looks like exactly the same back, just a tenth of a second faster. You know that amazing vision he has? Fully on display last season. That ridiculous patience? Fully on display last season. Everything that Bell does that makes him so special is stuff he was doing last year. He's just now a little bit quicker after he does it.Those guys were not wrong about last year. He looked totally different when he had that extra weight on.

Add Le'Veon Bell to that list? And let's just end the stupid ### 3.5 argument:
Emmitt Smith 3.9
Walter Peyton 3.7
LT 3.6
Ricky Williams 3.5
I don't point blank tell people to dismiss an argument often but in this case judging him on his rookie YPC is dead wrong.
This a million times and a lot of people were saying that a long time ago...People keep saying that Bell looks like a completely different back. He doesn't. His vision easily makes his best asset. The zone blocking scheme fits this offensive line and Bell way better, as he has the ability to choose his hole, thus setting up defenders. You know that amazing vision he has?
You could see he had quick feet last season, even with the extra weight - the rest of his body just caught up now. I never thought of him as a plodder last season, and saw improvement as his health improved, but he certainly looks far better this season. That 20 lb weight loss looks like it is making a huge difference. No big deal. Everyone is wrong plenty enough in FF. The unpredictability is what makes it so much fun. Still will wait to see how the entire season pans out but so far he looks great and Blount is no threat.Good man, BB.That 20 lb weight loss looks like it is making a huge difference. I don't think they have virtual restraining orders, although it's a good idea. That could be a new feature Footballguys could add to the SP in the off season.
Bell said he was 225.So he lost 20 lbs... how much do they say he weighs now, just out of curiosity?
Ben Roethlisberger took some of the blame for Le'Veon Bell's meager 15 carries in Week 5.
Roethlisberger audibled to pass plays a lot against the Jaguars -- especially in the red zone. "That's me calling plays, feeling like we have the advantage in the pass game down there, so I called passes," Big Ben said. "And I don't regret any of it." Expect Bell to get fed a much heavier workload this week against a Browns defense that is ranked 29th against the run.

Big Ben doesn't regret any of it.Pittsburgh has been passing a ton inside the 10. They've runs 24 plays down there and Bell has only had 4 rushes compared to 18 passes (2 rushes for Blount).
It's no wonder they're struggling down there. You have to wonder what these teams are thinking sometimes. Pittsburgh and, earlier in the year, Dallas with two of the best RBs in the league and all they do is pass inside the 10 and wonder why they keep settling for FGs. Meanwhile teams like the Vikings are pounding Matt Asiata down there and getting rewarded. Matt Asiata!
Pittsburgh has run 24 plays inside the 10, with 18 of them being passes, and scored 5 TDs
Minnesota has run 17 plays inside the 10, with 7 of them being passes, and scored 7 TDs
Dallas got it figured out and started running the ball down there, so hopefully Pitt will as well.
Le'Veon Bell rushed 18 times for 82 yards in the Steelers' Week 6 loss to the Browns, adding four catches for 23 yards.
The 100-yard effort was Bell's sixth in six games, and gives him 793 yards from scrimmage. Foolishly, Bell lost a goal-line carry to LeGarrette Blount, who proceeded to gain his usual one yard on a 3rd-and-3 from the Browns' three-yard line. The Steelers settled for a field goal. Rather amazingly, Bell hasn't scored since Week 1, but his touchdown rate should start catching up to his yardage in the very near future.

dont worry ...rotoworld just said he would be very soonThis guy can't find the end zone lately.
As a Steelers/Le'Veon fan, I've wanted to punch Haley in the face since he got there..Pretty sure it's playcalling down inside the 10-15 yd line. Pitt starts spreading it out with no back or Blount with Bell out wide many times from what I've seen.
Bell may have to break off 20yd+ runs/catches for TD's this year unfortunately.
I would like to punch Haley in the face. He should raffle a chance off for charity.
