RB Michael Carter, ARZ (2 Viewers)

Nathan Jahnke
Trey Benson going on IR. I'd add Michael Carter rather than Emari Demercado. I think Demercado will remain the receiving down back, Carter should get more of the early down and short yardage work.
Can't wait to start him and see Demercado get 20+ carries.
I definitely wouldn't start either until I had to. At least wait until you see how this shakes out.

I'm in the "need to" category as an owner of Conner and then somebody who traded for Benson.

Seeing how things shake out is something that's tough to do if you are in 12 team leagues or more. I have him in a 10 team league and he's sitting for sure.

Carter has shown the ability to handle a good workload. And he has the ability to catch the ball.
While he probably isn't a league winner, I don't exactly think "he sucks" either.

As good or better than Chase Edmonds who was very good in FF for many games in 2021-2022. Murray inflated his value, but he never performed to that level for other teams. Murray doesn't run as much now, so his boost to RBs is less than it was a few years ago.

I don't think this is anything like the Commanders. Carter is a 4 or 5 year vet and decent in pass pro. He could come out of this thing with a Benson/Conner-ish workload with Demarcado getting less than 10 opportunities.

Carter is as good of dart throw as any. Just dropped Dobbs for him. See what the week brings and pick up Dobbs for an epic crash back down to earth next week.

Anyway, not saying Michael Carter is a world beater but he was a decent RB on some. This guy was stuck behind Breece and poor QB play in New York and now he only has to deal with one of those obstacles.

Well, that an Arizona seems like they can't run the ball

Meh, 26th on attempts and 22nd in yards? Not great but the offense as a whole has been bad and they've played a pretty easy schedule (Carolina and New Orleans). Falcons and Bengals in the playoffs tho and if Carter is getting most of the work and Benson's injury lingers... could be some big weeks.

The upside for Benson exists in Carter.

I just plucked D'Ernest Johnson off of the waiver wire for another buck just in case, folks . . . he always was a hard runner and the OC coached him in Cleveland, I think. I'll check on that. Now that dude is on your waiver wire and free, so if you've got a roster spot and couldn't get Demercado, Carer, or Bam Knight (you should have been able to get Bam, but I think D'Ernest might be first in the pecking order after Demercado and Carter) then you know what to do, right?

Picked this dude up in 6/6 dynos. Not sure if there is any chance of flippability here...yet, but I'm plugging him in to start in a few flex spots. That matchup against the Titans...
Think the only real value he’d have is with the Trey Bensen owner.
If he performs well he’ll have the role for probably 3-5 more weeks and I’d think would have value to any team that needs a RB to get them through that stretch.

This right here. We are talking about a starting RB for 30% ish of a fantasy football regular season

with definitely more injuries to come to the position before guys like Bucky Irving and Benson recover

I bid $4 on the cornerback Michael Carter of the NYJ and, uh, 'won him'. :bag:

Hope you IDP guys didn't do the same. Criminy.
it's off topic, but did this for T Etienne RB and was surprised that he was available this week. Luckily I caught it before the waiver ran and canceled it. his name is Trevor and plays for CAR, the younger brother i learned yesterday.

sorry for the intermission, back to Carter. I picked him up and is forced to start him this week, I had Conner and no other RB worth a dam. I bid more for Carter than the guy who took Demercado. I realize today though Conner's injury could force Kyler to run more and that would hurt Carter as the early down back a lot more than Demercado as the safety valve. Upside for both just doesn't feel nearly as high as Conner's was, so just hoping for double digit touches this week if he is indeed the "starting" back.

Good call here. Not sure why he never got another chance, but he seemed like a good runner.

Ha.

I almost made a name related mistake last night and in some really important leagues.

My issue is I keep mixing up Tahj Brooks with Tahj Boyd. I barely caught the mistake, would have bought Boyd in a few leagues.

FanDuel odds for Carter: -110 to score a touchdown, -130 to get over 13.5 carries, and -114 to get over 51 rushing yards.
He’s now -105 for anytime TD. The money moved the lines. But other notable backs at the same odds are: cmc, Breece, Pollard/Spears. Dowdle is -120.

On draft kings he’s +105. Tied with Dowdle, Chase Brown, and White. Etienne +125. Dobbins +140. Judkins +145.

45.5 is his yardage line at -114. So people took the under I’m assuming to move the line down.

All as of this second.

This has to suggest he should be started almost everywhere (outside of the obvious must-start backs).
Except all his lines have decreased since this was posted
In a short bench redraft I cut him for Dowdle this morning, already second guessing that one
Id much rather have 1000 yd back with a great matchup getting all the touches vs a career journeyman also with a great matchup but questionable role. Dowdle for sure
