Saquon is currently on pace for:

The NFL rushing yards record is 2,105.
The NFL total yards record is 2,509.

He’s on pace to break both!

Nutty.

... I don't know how 6-7 pages ago there was a serious discussion about Saquon Barkley being washed.

legit washed...

and people get mad on the forum when I question if they legitimately have watched New York Giants football for more than a few games in 2022-2023 or outside of ESPN highlights.

Imagine your job was to discuss players and their fantasy outlooks, and you boldly and proudly said this guy was a RB5 or worse going forward.

Not the RB5, but an RB5. End your career bruh.

Who tf said this?

Some jagoff "media personality" pre-season was saying they'd draft a guy like shaun alexander (forget which scrub name he pulled) ahead of saquon this season.
don't remember the name, but it's in here somewhere

Paul Charchian. Everyone should ignore him from here on out. Don’t engage with him because that’s what he wants.

People who spew nonsense for clickbait’s sake should be frozen out.

there's clickbait and then there's be so historically wrong that you should be obligated to exit the arena.

The playcalling and "Tush Push" are the only things keeping him from being in the argument for #1 RB overall.

But those are two very big things to be concerned about.
I'd argue talent is also keeping him from #1 overall RB. He's nowhere near the player CMC is, really at anything, even power running. Barkley is a good player, but man, he gets a lot of leeway for his numbers, because the Giants weren't good. Lots of other RBs produced more in situations just as bad. Barkley hasn't been a great tackle breaker or a high-end pass catcher since he tore his ACL. That elite player from 2018-2019 is gone and is never coming back.

Barkley will be good, because he's in a great offense, and should see a big workload, but I don't think he has elite upside at all. I've got him in the RB6 to RB8 range, as a 2/3 turn kind of guy. Which likely means he may as well not even be on my board.

Hurts, probably well, hurts as well. Both from a TD aspect, and a reception aspect. I think 40 catches is a fair over/under in this offense. Maybe 8-10 TDs. I'd consider it a minor upset if he topped 300 touches. I'm not confident he's the best RB (NFL or fantasy) that changed teams this offseason.

Barkley 2023: 12 broken tackles (14 games)

CMC 2023: 13 broken tackles (16 games)

You want to know a huge difference between the two RBs.

CMC 2023: 877 yards before contact (3.2 yards/attempt).

Barkley 2023: 546 yards before contact (2.2 yards/attempt)

For comparison sake, D'Andre Swift had 664 yards before contact (2.9 yards/attempt)

Just playing on the Eagles should give Barkley an extra 100-150 yards before he's even touched.

I was way off on my yards before contact numbers. Saquon already has 616 yards before contact. He could very well end up with more yards before contact than CMC had in 2023.

Saquon Barkley runs for Eagles-record 255 yards in win vs. Rams

Excerpt

LOS ANGELES -- Saquon Barkley ran off the SoFi Stadium field Sunday night with two game balls under one arm and the other hand raised toward the sky as Philadelphia Eagles fans showered him with chants of "MVP!"

If he keeps playing like this, he might just be the first running back since Adrian Peterson in 2012 to capture the award.
Barkley had a career night in the Eagles' 37-20 win over the Los Angeles Rams, posting 302 scrimmage yards and a pair of rushing touchdowns, both of which went for 70-plus yards.

"He's a different type of player," Rams rookie outside linebacker Jared Verse said. "I've never seen a running back like that."
Barkley set the franchise record for most single-game rushing yards (255) and yards from scrimmage. It was the ninth-most rushing yards in a game in NFL history and the highest total since 2009.

He became just the 12th player in NFL history with 300-plus scrimmage yards in a game.
"He's got the home run ability every time he touches the football, he catches the ball out of the backfield, can run over people. It's a lot of fun blocking for him, I can tell you that," Eagles right tackle Lane Johnson said.

Sell high.

Is there really any rent you can seek with this guy? He’s got to be the number one back for both dynasty and redraft. If you can get JJ or Chase for him, then by all means, but I don’t know exactly what is too high. I was tempted to fire off an offer of Nico Collins for Saquon, but I’m not sure the other guy would agree to that or even think it was in the ballpark. (FTR, before last night Nico was still more valuable by any chart or calculation one could look at.)

32 yards from his career high rushing yards in a season.

With 6 games left.
Previous high was 1,312 in in '22. Has 1,392 currently. Not only did he do it in 5 fewer games, but also 70 fewer attempts.

It was tongue in cheek, but I also think it would be an interesting discussion.

I did indeed catch the tone, but sometimes there’s a lot of truth in a joke, and I was also interested in exactly what his value would be (ever since I started playing dynasty I’ve coveted him—no lie) so I just played it straight and proceeded to launch into the conversation.

Not sure what happened to the laugh option for likes, but :lmao:

I’m a lifelong eagles fan and have been playing FF since ‘91. I drafted 6 teams this year. Because I was so shell shocked and mistrustful of the eagles management due to the epic collapse last year, I passed on Barkley. Every. Single. Time.

And I loath myself. Absolutely loath myself…

I don't regularly participate in redraft leagues. Decided to try the FBG Bowl this year. Randomly was given the 11th pick.

Barkley landed in my lap at 1.11. Derrick Henry at 2.02 was just as sweet.
I took Henry 1.12 and then traded for Barkley in week 9. I think I caught the owner in a desperate spot but I have Barkley, Henry and Walker as my RBs now. Giddy up.

probably should have blocked Albert Beer a long time ago

In the final 6 games, 4 of them are against the 4 worst rush defenses in the NFL this season. He has a great chance to break Dickerson's record.

Weren't a lot of people saying that it was foolish to pay a RB big money? Just draft one in the 5th round and plug him in.

This is why Howie Roseman is such a great GM. He saw how transformational CMC was to the 49ers offense so he changed the way the organization treated the RB position.
Yeah, it makes me laugh and shake my head when people act like RB is just a plug and play position, especially when talking about the truly elite RBs like Barkley.

2024 FF is separated by teams that own Barkley and teams that do not. What a year for Saquon holders.
In my money redraft, the Barkley owner is 5-7 because the rest of his team stinks. The team that is dominating has Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry.

In my money auction, the Barkley owner also has Lamar. They are 9-3 but so are two other teams.

I was partly kidding, but a heck of a player to have. In my dynasty league the SB owner is near last place, just having one of those years where he seemingly plays the highest scoring team of the week. For the most part I would imagine most are in playoff contention who hold him.

That’s me in my main keeper league - middle of the pack despite Barkley because I have way too many other holes.

In any event, very happy for Saquon - always has struck me as a class act and as a Jets fan, ngl that I don’t mind seeing him stick it to the Giants. Have to admit from a keeper standpoint that I’m a bit concerned that he’ll have an inevitable dropoff next year - just hope not a meaningful one and that he stays healthy of course.

I bet a lot never even watched that much.

the Reality is he was performing to a reasonable level behind what may have been the worst line in the NFL for the last 3 years. (give or take)

now running behind a good line, you can definitely see the difference.

That was the mantra of the last 3-4 years. Then this year teams paid Barkley, Jacobs, Taylor, Jones, Henry (trade) and to a lesser extent Pollard and Swift. They're all having a positive affect on their offense.

Even people watching can be tricked. Watching a guy have to dodge tackles before he gets up to speed can make them look less explosive.
