This is truly amazing. Did he get caught banging Vrabel's wife or something?
Good thing we have these worthless sideline reporters to tell us they gotta stay out of 3rd and don't turn the ball overThere are rumors on social media sites that Henderson got hurt on kickoff but the broadcast hasn't said anything.
Wasn't he standing next to Gibson after Stevenson fumbled? If he was hurt I don't think he'd be on the sidelines.Good thing we have these worthless sideline reporters to tell us they gotta stay out of 3rd and don't turn the ball overThere are rumors on social media sites that Henderson got hurt on kickoff but the broadcast hasn't said anything.
They are probably waiting to unleash him after the bye weekReally doesnt make much sense
Vrabel is probably an old school idiot who sees big plays as a negative as it gets the defense back on the field too soonIt’s completely bonkers. I don’t have Henderson or any patriots in any leagues. Have no horse in this race but it’s beyond infuriating from a fan POV that this kid who is insanely talented, they have players ahead of him that are literally fumbling games away and yet they continue to get carries. Big plays win games … you get the ball into your playmakers hands and let them make a difference. It’s not that hard.
So don’t draft him…sometimes these guys are too smart for their own good. This year, Rhamondre Stevenson and Antonio Gibson have combined for 5 fumbles to TreVeyon Henderson's 0
In college, Henderson had zero fumbles on 667 career touches. Last year, Stevenson led all non-QBs in fumbles with 7
How bad must he be if they still won't give him the ball?

Vrabel is a boomer. He sat Derrick freaking Henry for Dion Lewis. He’s an insanely bad coach.
Scott Barrett
He's honestly a great coach who maybe does stupid things, such as breaking the No. 1 most important rule - play your best players
Frank Schwab
Really wonder what's happening behind the scenes. These are not dumb coaches. There's no way they think Rhamondre with 1 fumble each game > Henderson. Or that Gibson > Henderson in any galaxy. But that's how they play it.
Ryan Heath
The fumbles will continue until TreVeyon Henderson learns his lesson

I’m enjoying the TreVeyon Henderson discourse tonight, and cannot wait for the Pats to sign Gus Edwards next week to also play ahead of him.
This. The announcers called his name and I saw the nameplate from afar on the broadcast and I was like "That's not Henderson, that's somebody like 'Evans' or something--that name is too small to be Henderson." Then I looked closer and saw the font and was like ????.But the important question: Why is his jersey nameplate so small?
Thank youuuu. I kept thinking who is this new rb I’ve never seen that earned touches over Henderson. But the important question: Why is his jersey nameplate so small?
He’s being punished with snaps and a small nameplateBut the important question: Why is his jersey nameplate so small?

It will happen.

His pass pro better change fast or his role is unlikely to.**** changes fast in this league though.
Give him 15 touches to get into a groove and let's see what happens. One thing they should be doing is getting him out into space on those short passes and let him do his thing. Which is to turn out big plays. Oh, but Josh McDaniels thinks he's God's gift to football but he isn't.Lot of humor in here but honestly he didn’t look that good to me on the snaps he had. He is, as has been said by others, something of a negative in pass pro. RS is bigger and definitely protected Maye better. And RS has more power, which is why they’ll use him more in goal to go situations.
That really might be all there is to it. The good news for Hendo shareholders is the Gibson injury probably opens up a sizable workload for him, and not every game will be against a tough Bills D.
But I’d temper expectations. He’s clearly in a RBBC, and apparently getting the smaller portion of the pie.
I thought it was Josh McDaniels calling the plays. What does this have to do with Vrabel?Lots of ppl dogging Vrabel calling him an idiot and everything. But he has this team much improved at 3-2. He's a good coach. Just look at what the Pats were doing last year.
It's true Vrabel didn't use Derrick Henry at first. But eventually Henry had an MVP caliber season. He's probably just making the rookie earn it or something. Idk. But they're still winning games so it's not like Vrabel is a complete moron.
Oh he’s gonna get more work if Gibson’s knee takes him out.Yeah, he hasn't looked good. It's not particularly insightful to have noticed that.
Nobody else has looked particularly good in that backfield either.
Still gotta believe he's in line for more work and that's often all we need for an RB to be usable.
That might be the answer, but if he can’t protect Maye, the Pats become more predictable when he’s on the field.Give him 15 touches to get into a groove and let's see what happens. Due respect but this is a very odd comp - Henry is a monster at 6’3” 252, and Henderson is 5’10, 210 lbs soaking wet. It's true Vrabel didn't use Derrick Henry at first. But eventually Henry had an MVP caliber season
Funny thing is, he had the reputation as a good pass blocker coming into the draft. I can't imagine this is much of an issue, regardless of what happened earlier.Oh he’s gonna get more work if Gibson’s knee takes him out.Yeah, he hasn't looked good. I noticed a lot of packages with both Hendo & RS on the field last night. I suspect that was to keep defenders off balance for that reason.
Regardless, RS clearly isn’t going anywhere.

It’s like comparing Marshawn Lynch to Samaje Perine. And to this point, based on what I’ve seen of Hendo in the NFL, if I were a GM I’d probably rather have Perine.

I see people saying this all the time. It was said several times in the game topic last night.Funny thing is, he had the reputation as a good pass blocker coming into the draft. I can't imagine this is much of an issue, regardless of what happened earlier.
Was what he did related to Maye getting blown up? Because that’s arguably worse than a fumble. Can’t risk your franchise QB’s health.I guess what I don't understand is how Henderson needs to be punished for doing whatever he did, but Rhamondre, who averages one lost fumble per game, still gets half the work plus high-value touches.
You want to bring bigger and heavier to the equation, but I don't see anyone saying this about the runt in Miami. I don't think pass protection will be an issue for Henderson. Or not to the extent it's being talked about.I see people saying this all the time. But college < NFL. Everyone in the NFL is bigger, stronger, faster. I’m sure he faced some tough defenders in college, but his size is an issue in this arena for sure. NFL linebackers are 6’-6’5”, and typically play between 230-260 lbs.
Skills don’t always translate from college to pros is all I’m saying. And with this particular skill, Hendo is almost always going to be at a height/weight disadvantage. When pretty much every LB has 2-7” and 20-40 lbs on him, that’s a tough row to hoe. DEs are often even bigger than that. Greg Rousseau is 6’7, 267 lbs. that’s 9” taller and 57 lbs heavier than Hendo. Good luck with that.
Maybe he’ll improve through technique, but technique isn’t gonna make Hendo bigger or heavier.

The nameplate size directly correlates with how many touches he’s getting. So, his nameplate font size will increase as his usage rate goes upBut the important question: Why is his jersey nameplate so small?
IIRC Achane isn’t tasked with pass pro very often. Probably why Ollie Gordon & Ingold have a ~30-50% snap count share.but I don't see anyone saying this about the runt in Miami
Exactly my suspicion as well, as posted above. As much as the coaches care about ball security - and they all do - there is plenty of logic behind caring way more about franchise QB security when you have one.
Not knowing the schemes on passing plays, is the Miami OL or TEs that much better than NEs for blocking? If not, why would Henderson need to block more than Achane does?IIRC Achane isn’t tasked with pass pro very often.but I don't see anyone saying this about the runt in Miami
All I know is when Hendo was alone in the backfield, Maye was getting blown up with pressure. When RS was blocking, Maye had time to complete his throws. Not knowing the schemes on passing plays, is the Miami OL or TEs that much better than NEs for blocking? I had to reword my last response, so go read it again. My point is why is Henderson's blocking more important than Achane's? 1 game sample size, but that’s the difference between playing winning football or not. It doesn’t matter how good of a RB Henderson is (and IMO that’s a legitimate debate at this point) if he can’t protect their franchise QB, he’s not going to be a big part of the offense.
Henderson was running a route most of the time when he was in the backfield alone. All I know is when Hendo was alone in the backfield, Maye was getting blown up with pressure. Yes, he runs a lot of routes on offense, so I don't see the big deal with pass protecting. Besides, RBs protecting the QB is overrated. If Achane is OK to get most of the carries, so should Henderson. I believe I would trust Henderson more in pass protection than Achane. Still, no one has answerd my question above.
