RB TreVeyon Henderson, NE (3 Viewers)

I mean you can complain how about he’s used etc but he hasn’t been good when he has gotten the ball. Doesn’t break tackles and he really hasn’t made many miss, which is supposed to be his strong suit. I’m sure he’ll improve but right now he’s not good.
Have to make your opportunities
Exactly. If he was tearing it up, McDaniels would certainly get him more involved. He goes down when someone breathes on him and he’s missing assignments in pass protection. CMac and others started with a whimper so he’s not necessarily done or anything but right now he stinks.
Of course he’s not done. He’s probably not confident, he’s not getting consistently fed to get in a rhythm. Hes a young kid 1/4 way thru his first year.

Not sure what he was doing here. Yes, I’m bitter that I bought the hype and took this dude early. Ashamed to admit where, but let’s just say there were plenty of players available. Now I like a fool hold on and dream for a miracle while others have picked up Rico, Vidal, and Skat. We have short benches and pretty much have to drop someone of value to pick up players.

Your answer is in the first comment on that Instapost
He did his assignment. Chase young was out on the flat. He’s making sure he stays on his flat assignment and doesn’t start rushing the qb

Agreed with the rest of your thoughts about Tre. He has officially entered can't start, can't trade, can't cut status, which is a horrible place to be. The back half of his schedule is the only thing really keeping me from punting at this point.

Its just not looking good, Stevenson has also looked ordinary to just bad with the fumbles and Henderson just isn't closing the gap.

Stevenson had 13 carries for 18 yards yesterday. Has fumbled 3 times. 3.1 YPC for the season. Below ordinary I would say. I know Henderson hasn’t been much better but maybe give him a game with 15-18 carries and see if he can get into a groove. He also hasn’t fumbled. They know what they have with Stevenson.

Didn’t you know Stevenson has compromising pictures of Josh McDaniels with farm animals?

Jk

I’m sure they will once he gets his pass protection down. He missed a few key blocks early on. Neither guy is doing much so they’re playing the one who doesn’t get the franchise killed.

….and he was such a highly rated blocker coming into the draft. RB blocking is overrated.

Henderson ranks last in the league in rushing yards over expected per attempt at -1.2. Stephenson isn’t much better at 9th worst at -0.2. But that’s still a yard better. But it’s clear blocking in the run game hasn’t been very good to this point.

I don’t think they view him as a bell cow and he hasn’t been making the plays. I saw one rep a few weeks ago where he caught a pass down the sideline and only had one defender within 20 yards and couldn’t make him miss and was pushed out of bounds. Not impressed at all so far

I don't think he was ever viewed as a bell cow...IMO I thought he was drafted to be like a James White/Shane Vereen but more explosive and more of an RBBC guy than a third down/COP RB...right now the whole situation is disappointing...the explosion that was seen in camp and in preseason games is no longer visible, they don't appear to trust him too much (pass pro was seen as an attribute of his but he has been iffy there) and while the Pats O line is a lot better than last year it is not translating to the run game...locally some of the media members I respect feel it is a combo of an O line that only has one legit bad *** in Campbell (i.e. a road-grinder not just a pass-protector) and the fact the RBs are playing scared as far as ball security goes and that is hindering how they are playing...I have heard Vrabel allude to that as well...unfortunately all that combined leads to Henderson just looking blah so far...my hope is this is just a transition to the NFL and he will eventually pop but there is zero doubt he has very much underwhelmed from the expectations I had going into the year.

This guys gonna be on a lot of waiver wires this week
My biggest miss in a long time. Look what his partner from Ohio State is doing for the Browns.

It's a fair point, but I think Stevenson was averaging something like 7 YPC relatively deep into this game. When the guy in front of you is dominating, there's not much incentive for the coaches to force you into action. The Browns do not have an equivalent of Stevenson to siphon touches from Judkins, so it's really not a parallel situation. I still stubbornly believe that Henderson will be a good NFL player when it's all said and done.

Nobody could deny that his season has been hugely underwhelming so far though.

We saw the blueprint at Ohio State last season to managing Henderson's touches. Stevenson will still be heavily involved. However, Henderson does not need tremendous volume to be an elite producer. Think Jahmyr Gibbs.

From A Patriots perspective I am thinking a more electric James White...who is probably more involved in the run game.
Yeah same here .. Everyone says “Gibbs” but idk Henderson doesn’t look as dynamic as him. I see more of a Tony Pollard/Reggie Bush comp.
100. I was thrilled when the guy ahead me took Henderson which allowed me to grab Judkins who has grown on me quite a bit. I think Henderson has some real NFL value (as well as FF) but I do not see Gibbs in him at all. I think his ceiling is a lot lower than what we have seen from Gibbs.
Holding on my original opinion, was also concerned about McDaniels using Henderson right. Not saying Hendy is junk, but it is not looking awesome right now. The preseason kickoff return was the peak so far.

So, any word on WHY he didn't play much? At this point I'd feel better about an injury - but it seems he just is BAD.
How can you say that when we haven’t seen them use him?
I'm not sure if this is sarcasm, but in case it's not? Uh, the fact they are not using him, means he isnt good - yet. Ok?
Not sure, but I’ll defer to your expert opinion.
Ok. Do you have an opinion on the matter? Whether its an expert opinion or not, does not matter to me.

He hasn’t had opportunity yet. Not enough any way. He will get his chance some day.

I benched AJ Brown for Henderson.

According to the “experts,” Brown had the #1 most difficult matchup, and has been a dud vs pushovers. No reason to think this week would be any better. Figured the Pats would be up big and this would be the perfect game to give him opportunities, including garbage time.

Nope. Despite playing this stupid game for 30 years, I’m still an idiot.

Yea ... this ones on you brother. I started Henderson today, but only over the likes of Travis Hunter (oof) and Tre Tucker. You should know better than that though .. I don't care how "bad" AJ Brown has been, hes still been better than Henderson. Plus the ceiling/floor differential?

Next week is a new week, thankfully

I agree. I don’t see how anyone could start Henderson over Brown, or anyone similar, given his minuscule usage.

It was a jackass decision, plain and simple. Got tired of AJ boning me and went with a gut feeling based on nothing but matchups.

Tomorrow is a new day.

This is the point in the season you would expect to see him trending up but he seems to be trending down. If gets dropped, I will stash him for a bit but this looks extremely bad for short term and long term value. If I took him in dynasty, I would be very skeptical about what I have now.

Just wanted to say, although you made a bad roster/lineup decision ... you're not an idiot. You're smart, funny, and people like you.

Definitely on me. I was tempted by the notion of rolling the dice on the unknown vs what seemed to be a guaranteed dud. Would it have been shocking if AJ Brown went 4/37/0 in a tough matchup and Henderson went 8/32/1 in an ideal matchup?
