RB TreVeyon Henderson, NE (2 Viewers)

Henderson isn’t slow, he’s a real talent that’s being ignored for egotistical reasons.
I'm fuzzy on this, what are the egotistical reasons?
My guess would be that they think they are smarter than they really are, draft capital be damned. I’d bet this wouldn’t be happening on a lot of teams. We all know that McDaniels thinks he’s an offensive guru. Maybe he is, but we also know he couldn’t hack it as a head coach twice. And Vrabel seems to be stubborn about Henderson. Why did he misuse Derrick Henry? Oh, and he was also a fired coach. So these guys obviously have flaws, just as they claim Henderson has flaws.

Rotoworld: Sunday Aftermath: Jayden Daniels injured, Rashee Rice’s return, Vikes QB woes, and more

TreVeyon Henderson makes it clear: He is droppable in fantasy leagues. The only thing stronger than Henderson’s fantasy draft capital is his real life draft capital. Rare is the second-round running back who is not immediately fed touches. Rarer still are egos like Mike Vrabel and Josh McDaniels’. If you don’t do things their way, you don’t get the ball. Henderson apparently isn’t, and he isn’t. Why should we expect things to change for Week 8 after Henderson played nine snaps and notched two touches against the Titans? He also lost yet another role when Terrell Jennings became Vrabel’s “five-minute drill” back. At this point, the only thing more inconceivable than cutting your Henderson losses would be not doing so.
It's all because of Vrabel's ego. Such a shame.
Maybe. I agree that he and McDaniels are hard @$$#s (and McD seems arrogant AF and desperate to prove he's an Alpha Genius) but, as I understand it, they do run a complicated system and, maybe Henderson is slow to pick it up.

Henderson isn’t slow, he’s a real talent that’s being ignored for egotistical reasons. There’s a reason why McDaniels was fired twice and Vrabel once, but while they are currently winning its status quo. I don’t expect Henderson to overtake Stevenson yet, if ever, but not playing Henderson is criminal. If they think so poorly of him they are essentially admitting they shouldn’t have drafted him in the 2nd round (38th overall). My guess on most teams this wouldn’t be happening.
I wasn't talking about foot speed. We have no idea if he's truly picking up the offense. If he was, my guess is he wouldn't be ceding touches to...Jennings???

I don't think it has to do with them thinking poorly of Henderson but, it does track with general rookie usage in the Belichick coaching tree. They really seem to favor veterans at every turn.

I know you weren’t talking foot speed. I understood you perfectly and responded to it that way.

Vrabel's first year was 2018, Henry got 1000 yards and 12 TD's, on 215 carries that year so while maybe he could've gotten more carries he ramped up to 300 the next. For the most part the misuse was before he got there.

I suspected that was the case. So, please tell me how you know, for certain apparently, that Henderson isn't slow in picking up the offense.

From what I’ve read the Patriots scheme isn’t complicated and I doubt he had issues with OSU. To answer your question about his abilities to process things mentally, I don’t know whether he has issues with that or not, but I haven’t heard that is a problem with the Patriots. I think it’s silly to surmise that. All I’ve heard is issues with pass blocking. That’s more about technique, not mental acuity.

Yeah, I remember that season vividly. The 230 touches were nice and, 1,258 & 12 TDs looks great on paper but, almost half of that production came over the last four games. He wasn't used as a feature back over the first 12 games, even though he started nine of them.

He had 10, 18, 18, 8, 11, 7, 12, 6, 11, 9, 8 & 10 carries, with 15 targets in the first 12 games. It is important to note that he only averaged 3.7 YPC on those 128 att so it wasn't crazy, on paper, to time share him.

Then he went 17-238-4 on TNF against Jacksonville (painfully on my bench because of how untrustworthy his usage was to that point).

After that the Titans turned the backfield over to Henry full time and he went 70-347-3 over the last three games (5.0).

I have heard otherwise over the decades of McDaniels career.

Not making the right reads on pass protection, if that's the real problem (and IDK if it is) seems to be a big part of the offensive scheme. I'm guessing (just guessing) the approach is different in NE than it was at OSU.

Honestly this thread just makes me angry that the Raiders didn't take Kelvin Banks at #6 and go after Henderson in round 2. At least he would have been familiar with the scheme.

Henderson looking real good today...they are leaning on him for the past drive...getting close to the end zone...and he fumbles.

It’s really incredible. All we heard about him was his elite pass protection and that he never fumbles. Then he struggled with pass protection and then lost a fumble at the end of his best performance. Five star recruit, four year starter at Ohio State, and I think my expectations for him as a rookie were higher than they should’ve been.

Fun while it lasted. He is never going to see the field again.
Yup. Stevenson’s allowed to fumble 5 times for every one Henderson fumble .. That’s how Vrabel determines playing time for these two.
Plus Stevenson had another stellar rushing game. 14 carries for 34 yards. I mean how can you not keep giving him the ball? He’s amazing. Henderson is toast!

I've thought he looked uncomfortable until recently. A gazillion backs need to stop thinking and just play the game and he's been guilty of that. Very normal.
He looked good on NFL+
Like oh we're playing now?

I can click away and see him look at his feet and who does that? Someone nervous and second guessing and not playing the game.

No one will trade with me but maybe y'all can. I'm wondering if the light went on for him. He's a big time talent. Idk if I'm overreacting to a young player or I'm right here. I think I see him just playing the game now

D’Ernest Johnson is JAG, I see it as he’s veteran depth as an injury to Stevenson or Henderson would’ve left only Terrell Jennings as the RB2 otherwise. I think Johnson leapfrogs Jennings but Henderson still keeps his spot as RB2, fumble be damned.

I was surprised to see he is still under 30 (29 yrs old).

For whatever reason, Rhamondre wasn't seen practicing today. Something to keep an eye on.
He fumbled his playbook on the way to the stadium and couldn't find it, thus the reason he missed practice if I had to guess.
But Vrabel said that when Rhomondre fumbles, it really brings the team together and that’s why he’s going to make him a captain for the rest of the season.

On a side note, Henderson will be inactive this week due to his fumble last week. “It’s imperative that he hold onto the ball or else suffer the consequences” Vrabel said.

Rookie discrimination. He should file a complaint with his union rep.

Seems it's concerning enough for the Pats to sign on another RB in D'ernest Johnson. If Stevenson doesn't go, I doubt Henderson gets bellcow volume but he'll definitely be getting a lot more than what he has been.

As long as they don't keep slamming up in between the tackles like the constantly were doing prior to this past weekend...

Vrabel and McDaniels are stubborn enough to give more carries to Johnson and Jennings and Henderson get his usual scraps.

Sadly, this is true.

Hendy is a good buy-low in dynasty. There's got to be some impatient owners out there.

I like the talent...and talent typically wins out. That said, RB is one position where good players can get the shaft for a variety of reasons and never get a legit chance.
