RB TreVeyon Henderson, NE (11 Viewers)

I guess I have decisions to make when Rashee Rice comes back for his bye. I kid I kid.

All kidding aside, nice to to see my high draft pick getting me some points.

Zack Cox
Stefon Diggs said he was “talking mad junk” to TreVeyon Henderson at halftime about the rookie struggling to break off long runs.

Two plays later: 55-yard TD

Diggs: “I’m proud of him. … He’s finally scoring touchdowns, finally running away from guys. We’re kind of hard on everybody, (and) I’m definitely hard on TreVeyon, just because I see so much potential in him.

“When one guy tackles him and stuff like that — I’ve been around some great backs in my career, and I was telling him, ‘Those great backs don’t get tackled. I want to see you score.’ I was talking mad junk to him at halftime. I was just being hard on him. So him coming out there and busting two of them, it’s like, it’s good to be hard on people, I guess.”

I thought I played Henderson in all leagues but when looking through my scores I sat him for ETN in 1 bah that cost me 13 pts.

I'd like to take a moment and acknowledge FarFromHome. He declined 50 plus trade offers for Henderson this past month. It was basically sharks trying to take a advantage of him. He never waivered. He kept believing. Then one day he stopped believing, but his pride continued to reject trade offer after trade offer. Here's to you FarFromHome!!!

It appears he was looking to Vrabel to see if he should score.

Given that Tampa Bay has two timeouts left, it may be right to score. If they had no timeouts, then he should go down.
That was really cool
Yeah. I just watched the highlight of that run, he was definitely looking for the okay from the coaches. That will earn him some respect from the coaches.

Henderson gets the Jets, Bengals and the Giants over the next three weeks.

Seems like the only thing that can keep this guy under 100 yards rushing is Mike Vrabel.

Good Grief..

Of course his owner had him on the block last week. I try going after him, willing to give well more than he’s shown. Dude never responds.
:sadbanana:

I said yesterday during the game when Jennings got nicked that it was bad news for the Bucs because this kid was about to get his shot. Damn. Ludicrous speed.

This FarFromHome guy sounds impressive. If I was him I'd absolutely refer to myself in the third person every chance I got.

But not from me. Who was going against Baker. ;)

In a bizarre and in this case fortuitous twist of fate, I started Henderson, Baker and Tez in my local league. Would have really sucked if he had taken a knee instead of scoring.

I started Henderson and Tez in my local league I will find out tonight if I can hang on and win and if those pts were the diff

Same sitch myself. Good luck tonight!

Watching that 2nd TD run, the lineman that they lined up at FB, basically blocked like 5 guys on that run. That might have been the best run block I've ever seen, he sealed the edge, and pushed the edge defender into another defender, who fell, and dominoed into 2-3 others.

Henderson is a tough guy to get a read on right now, obviously he won't have huge TD runs like this weekly, but he (and honestly Kyle Williams too) should get more playing time for NE because they bring the chances of hitting these types of big plays up a ton. TB is a good defense, so most matchups are easier than them. Henderson also could have had another TD just before halftime but got tackled inside the 2 on 3 straight plays (1 of which may have been on purpose to run clock since TB was out of timeouts?)

Looks like the party might be over NE estimated all 3 backs limited today
Party is just starting.
The arrow is definitely up for Henderson, but if Rhamandre is healthy I bet you he gets a good chunk of action. They still want to pound the middle success or not to keep the D honest.

Henderson's touches are still not what we want them to be, but he's going to have plenty of opportunities understanding Maye's development, McDaniel's play calling, and their easy peasy schedule.

I’m under no impression Stevenson won’t get his if healthy.

Jennings started & had the lead in carries before going out. Vrabel already knew what Henderson could do then. He obviously has something tactical in mind with all this, thing is fate keeps calling the shots.

I do not think he is smart enough that he has something tactical in mind.

Hard to argue

Jennings starts and has 4 carries for 5 yards. Henderson comes in and goes for 16 on his first carry and of course the two long TD runs later in the game. Henderson is electric. Maybe Vrabel just doesn’t like big plays and that’s why he also put Kyle Williams back on the bench after his 72 yard TD. Maybe an aversion to big plays is his “tactical” plan and Henderson and Williams kept screwing it up.

TreVeyon Henderson had 93 rush yards over expected in Week 10.

Rhamondre Stevenson has 20 RYOE on the SEASON.

This is both true, misleading, and taken out of context all in one tweet. That's a rare trifecta.

Henderson until this past game was last in the league in RYOE. By a lot. Stevenson wasnt good here either. But he was 2.2 yards BETTER than Henderson was in RYOE (+0.4 vs - 1.8).

Henederson got 93 ruh yards over expected on two take it to the house runs. The last (huge) run was sprung by a devastating block. It really didnt have much to do with Henderson. Yes, his speed allowed him to score on a breakaway play. But it was not due to Henderson juking people out, running anyone over, or driving the pile back.

I am not dissing Henderson here. His job is to get in space and turn on the jets. That's what he did. ANy NE back has been terrible running up the middle. That's not on the running backs. That's on the OL. And McDaniels has adapted by calling plays to the outside and not up the middle. Those plays work better for Stevenson, too.

Meaing, we all know Henderson has breakawy speed when given the chance. And he showed that here. He also was good in pass protection. BUt the week before Maye was sacked 6 times with Stevenson out. Henderson is a rookie, so he will have some great plays, some mistakes, and some bonehead plays, Because that's what rookies do.

I sitll see Stevenson playing a ton when he gets back. But Henderson certainly has more upside for NE in that he could score on any play. I still for the life of me don't understand why McDaniels doesnt call swing passes, wheel routes, or put him in motion to get him on a backer, or run quick slants or underneath crossing routes. Those to me all scream CHUNK PLAYS.

Yeah, this is really surprising especially when you look at how McDaniels used someone like James White in the past. I realize that was a while ago but you would think he would want to get the ball to Henderson in space. Maybe this week

good post. The RYOE is misleading just based on that last run alone. don't know the O-lineman that did it, but he threw one block and then basically fell in the path of like 3 TB defenders.

It's coaching malpractice. Running the fastest player on the team up the middle incessantly is not to be understood. Some play callers make it look so easy, and understand how to utilize talent. I don't know if it's ego or density, but others just ignore what is right in front of them.

Face the facts NE likes the even split most of the time, especially if everyone is healthy. That won’t change when Stevenson is back. I’ve come to grips with this reality.

Agreed...I don't see there being a legit bellcow with McDaniels...the key to Henderson to me is the explosive plays and use in the passing game...we finally got a couple of explosive plays, but the receptions are still nowhere near what I thought they would be (21 receptions on 25 targets in 10 games)...the pass-protection was pretty much seen as a given when he was drafted but he has struggled in that area...he did much better with that this week so between that, the big plays and a solid game against Atlanta in week nine hopefully he is on the verge to becoming what many of us thought he would be.

Agreed. I am a big Treyveon fan but these "over expected" stats have become all the rage recently and this just shows how truly dumb it is that those stats have become so commonly quoted.

That was 75 yards "over expected" on that one play alone. But it's a total judgement call. To me, that play was 0 yards over expected. It was perfectly blocked. Heck if anything he had poor vision on that play and ran into his own lineman. Most NFL RBs should/would have scored on that play imo. I don't want to say it's a dumb stat. But it's a very very low value stat that is completely subjective and is way overused.

Ron Stewart
The most important stat of the day:

Treveyon Henderson allowed 0 pressures in pass pro, good for a 79.6 pass block grade.

Both season highs via @PFF
I’m not a PFF fan by any means but the thing I care most here is the 0 pressures on pass pro. That’s what Henderson needs to continue to do if he wants to stay on the field.
