Appreciated the nice spot start from Sermon. Goodson probably got more touches and was more efficient than what I hoped for. So now the question is whether Sermon is worth holding when Taylor makes his return.

Obviously, the answer is going to be different for every league. For me, not in re-draft. 24x12 dynasty, don't mind rostering him, but probably not a priority to hold.

Trey Sermon rushed 10 times for 38 yards and a touchdown in the Colts’ Week 5 loss to the Jaguars, adding six receptions for 25 yards.

Sermon got stood up three times inside the Jaguars’ five on the Colts’ opening drive, including twice from the one. That portended an ominous spot start, though he thankfully eventually nabbed the score and some nice PPR goodness on top. Sermon looked like what he is — a journeyman forced into a job he should not have — but the usage was as expected. Jonathan Taylor’s (ankle) status seems questionable at best for Week 6 against the Titans. Sermon will probably need to remain rostered through at least Friday.

I'm not sure Trey Sermon qualifies for a 'Veteran Rest Wednesday', if that's what you're saying.

IMHO, he's at best in a time-share with Goodson, and neither is appreciably better than the other, though Sermon appears to have a slight majority of opportunities. I would imagine if Taylor was in danger of missing the upcoming game, they'd want both Sermon and Goodson getting as many reps as possible.

Usually when a player gets a Vet Rest Wed, it doesn't include a body-part injury designation.

I'm rostering Taylor in multiple HS Leagues, with some very tough waiver cut decisions due to injuries and bye weeks, Goodson among them.

Knowing how serious the Sermon collarbone issue is would be helpful.

I couldn't find anything definitive on IndyStar, only that it is a collarbone injury and that he didn't practice.

At FantasyPros the only thing I found was - This seems to be a new injury for the young running back, and it's unclear how serious of an issue it is at this point. Indianapolis' running back room may be really thin this week if he and Jonathan Taylor (ankle) are both out against the Titans.

Probably not, unless reports come out that it is bad. Sermon isn't good enough to absolutely hold if he's hurt bad. Not saying he is either. What are your other options? I don't think Goodson is the difference in winning or losing in a given week, but obviously he could be. Sometimes the right decision is to punt a week and sometimes the right decision is you have to win that week. Only you can make that decision.

Yahoo & Sleeper have JT projected with starter-level points, but I think it's a given he misses week 6. If Sermon misses as well, Goodson absolutely can be a weekly winner, just like Sermon was RB7 last week. No website even lists a 4th RB on the depth chart right now, but I thought it was Evan Hull?

I did say "but he could be", to indicate he could be the difference in winning and losing, but not necessarily. Whether you pick up Goodson and play him depends on your current team construction and whether you drop Sermon for Goodson depends on the same roster construction. Sometimes it makes sense to do so and sometimes it does not.

I may have to drop Sermon to pick up Flacco for this week if Richardson isnt a go, with Darnold on bye and Tua on IR. I never, ever thought I would rostering Sam Darnold and Joe Flacco at the start of the season, yet here we are.

Even if Sermon plays, Goodson isn't a terrible option for the desperate this week.

Only two RBs saw snaps for the Colts last week and Goodson was on the field for 41% of the snaps. He only saw half the utilization as Sermon (5 rush, 3 targets to 10 rush & 6 targets) but he was much more efficient both as a rusher and receiver.

If Sermon is nursing an injury, even if he starts he may not see as much utilization.

Sermon is scooped up unfortunately but Goodson sounds intriguing. I am in deep trouble at RB with JT likely out, Achane on a BYE and Robinson Jr. knicked up. I have Chase Brown I'll likely have to start but then I have a combo of Corum, Allgeier and Braelon Allen.

Took a flyer on him this morning. Even if Sermon is out I might consider Allgeier because of that Carolina matchup. But Goodson would likely be the volume play.
