RB Zach Charbonnet, SEA (1 Viewer)

NFL Rookie Watch
Zach Charbonnet absolutely laying the BOOM 😳

Not once, but TWICE on Lewis Cine (Vikings Safety).
Charbonnet’s contact balance was reportedly viewed as “elite” by many NFL scouts leading up to the NFL Draft.Charbonnet has reportedly looked “fantastic” at training camp after coming back from a shoulder injury. The Seahawks rookie RB is not afraid to TRUCK.
I don't understand how a RB is allowed to lower the crown of his helmet into the head of a defender, but if the defender does it it's 15 yards and a 1st down.

It's supposed to be a penalty.
Preseason for the refs too, I guess.

Seahawks coach Pete Carroll said rookie RB Zach Charbonnet “looked really physical” in his preseason debut.
“Looked good, didn’t he?” Carroll said in his post-game comments. “He looked really physical. Guys on the sidelines were going crazy for him. He’s had a great start with us.” Charbonnet didn’t start with DJ Dallas getting the first few carries but was active while Ken Walker (core) didn’t play. That could change next week, with Charbonnet potentially drawing the start if Walker remains sidelined. The longer Walker is out the more chances Charbonnet will get to climb the depth chart before Week 1.

I think who is a starting RB (outside of a few like Henry and CMac) is an antiquated way of judging one's fantasy value.
Agreed. I tend to look at which parts of a backfield are likely to have more or less FF value based on role, and then look to ADP to see if they can be exploited.

“Starting RB” is kind of meaningless outside of a few situations.
How many backup RBs score more fantasy points than starting RBs when both are healthy? Maybe McKinnon? Anyone else? This is foolish to say it’s meaningless.
Literally missed the entire point of my (and Boston’s) post but that’s ok.

Enjoy your day.

Just watched the game highlights. Charbs looks like he belongs out there.

If I were a betting man, I’d bet this is a RBBC
This. You know Pete was going crazy when he trucked that db. Love to see physicality and pass catching. Walker owners getting nervous seeing him do stuff in the NFL that walker is not good at.
No not really.

The pass catching was pretty basic and if he keeps trying to just run over people he’s not going to last long.

menobrown nailed it......he isn't going to last long with that style. This is not something I want to see from a guy with a shoulder injury already.

I mean it, I feel even better about Walker now. Those highlights are not highlights at all. In fact he looks rather slow in my opinion. And you have to notice the happy feet.

It isn't something you want to see from a guy with a shoulder injury and it also let's you know how he probably got it lol.

Also he looks like a mudder in those. Walker takes 1 of those to the endzone

It is actually something I want to see from a physical back and the reason they drafted him. Let's agree to disagree

No I get that. If you are a mudder you best be physical.
Doesn't mean you will last long in the nfl though.

Fortunately the head coach agrees with me.

Wait....now we can believe what Pete says? I thought we were to take what he says with a grain of salt? Sure he said plenty of good things about Walker too.

On that play he really had no choice but to try and run over the defender. It was either that or slide.

I think it’s because he has stiff hips and runs upright

Maybe but it had zero to to with it on that play - the defender was right on top of him and there’s a defender to right if he cut that way.

If I'm Walker I immediately convince myself I'm healthy. Dude needs to get on the field. Sad thing about sports. People people quickly forget how good u are when your not on the field.
He has a lot of runway to get healthy. No need to rush.

That being said competition is a good thing.

we can agree to disagree

Faust dropping facts while the insecure Walker owners make stuff up is hilarious to me.
No insecurity. Just disagreement on talent levels of the players. Disagreement is what makes ffb fun.

What's annoying is the people who post all day long hedging on what they think happens. Everybody knows nobody knows anything with certainty. No need to play patty cake. Just give your hot take and live with it right or wrong. Worst thing that happens is that your wrong on a ffb prospect and someone quotes you later.

I’m sure the team is holding him out because groin injuries are tricky and they don’t want a reinjury.
Agreed - his last one ended up with hernia surgery. Probably something they don’t want to risk.

Walker is still the better home run hitter.

I can see a scenario where Charbonnet is used more earlier in games to wear down defenses, while Walker comes in later to take advantage of softer fronts with his fresh legs.

At least that’s how I’d use them.

That said, I still think FF value will boil down to who’s used in short yardage situations & where the bulk of the receptions go.

Once we know those things, the FF valuation will be a bit easier to quantify.

Zach Charbonnet with two catches last night for 14 yards.

It will be interesting to see the split when Ken Walker returns, but few backs have more contingent upside than Charbonnet.

If Walker misses time he would have a clear 3 Down Role.
Agree with if Walker goes down with injury Charb has big upside in this offense for his adp. But not without injury to Walker. But you can say that for quite a few backup rbs.

Walker 2022
Comparing a guy torching starting NFL defensive players to a guy barrelling over 3rd stringers and future car salesmen is not really fair.

If history is any indication the Seattle backfield will be a RBBC crapshoot the first month until one of them goes on IR and the last man standing will put up low RB1/high RB2 numbers.

This thread and the Walker thread should be the most entertaining in the Pool over the next 2 months.

He looked like a JAG vs backups to me.

No way this dude outperforms Walker.
Did you expect him to go break tackles on the sideline against more experienced players on the other team?

He can only play the guys he’s on the field with, and IMO he looked far, far better than “JAG” - no offense, but comments like that really hurt your credibility as an observer in my opinion.

Again, he can only play against the players on the field.

Seems kinda obvious. And it’s totally fair to watch him play and come away with whatever opinion from it.

I saw an NFL caliber back out there. He ran with intensity and power. He looked decisive.

And if he hadn’t looked good against “3rd stringers” then that’s probably what everyone would be talking about. Would that also be unfair?

Looking good is looking good, regardless of level of competition. He didn’t go out and stink up the place, so he advanced his cause. That’s really the long and short of it.

I also agree with that, a league winning potential handcuff.

I give up. I brought up credibility when somebody here posted Charbs IS better than Walker at many things prior to taking one NFL snap and a few people thought I was in the wrong. lol.

Fact is Walker has done it at the NFL level. See my link above. A few of you getting excited Zach ran into a safety and knocked him down.

I don't think anyone here is going to argue if one of these guys gets hurt, the other has league winning potential.

Fact is Walker has done it at the NFL level.
You’ve tried this argument time and again, and time and again it remains a deeply unserious thing to say.

Charbonnet will get his chance against NFL level players soon enough.
One of the worst arguments I've seen on here to be honest and he's screaming it off the mountain top.

While the Vikings defense isn't great Lewis Cine was a 1st round pick and is not 3rd string.

I think my fear is both are just good enough to cancel each other out making only one a rb3. The fun part of this thread reading the opinions of which one that is. The cool thing about sports is we get to find out week 1.
